Algeri arguably beat amir khan. Pacquiao couldn't even take Algeri out.
Spence is amazing. Khan sucks and Canelo will make him do the Stanky Legg
I agree. Errol Spence Jr. is just amazing. I think he is that very rare talent that we are gifted to witness.
I also think Saul Alvarez will make Amir Khan's body and limbs do something funny, but I do relish the slim chance that Khan can somehow pull off the upset. Nothing like a huge upset now and then to stir things up!
:lurk:
I was watching a bunch of his fights the other day, and inside the squared circle, he sure is exciting.
Wasn't he the last or one of the last fighters trained by Emmanuel Steward (along with Andy Lee)? Quite a few of those boxers came from really tough circumstances and that Kronk Gym was their way out to a better life.
Jim "The Boilermaker" Jeffries? Perhaps not the strongest ever, but in his era, he might have been. So many of the greats from back then thought he was the best ever.
Force equals mass times acceleration. His huge forearms give him that thudding power.
Nobody hit harder than Julian Jackson, pound for pound, in my opinion, just as the video therealpugilist shows.
What gets me is that it never gets brought up that he almost died from cancer within a year after the fight. One would have to figure that would play some role in his ability to win a difficult fight less that a year before.
It is such an uplifting story to me about Mr. Jacobs. What determination and heart he had/has to go through that.
I've known a couple of friends who got busted up bad, fully geared. Broken bones, missing flesh ... going way harder than those pics but still ...
Extremely bad idea, in my opinion.
SMDH...
GGG is going to demolish him. I don't see Gennady Golovkin weighing 158.8 lbs. as being any issue at all. Marvelous Marvin Hagler (whom I think is the best middleweight ever) used to weigh in less than that sometimes.
You can't see it from that angle, but ward landed a crippling body shot that nearly sent Kovalev down. The only thing that saved Kovalev from a knockdown was that he fell back on the ref.
The body shots, especially all the right hands under the heart, really impressed me.
Kevin Iole is reporting that Cotto-Kirkland will be PPV!!!! LMAO
I should say, its being discussed and not official.
Ahahaha! Perfect way for Mr. Kirkland to go for the rematch with Mr. Golovkin. Knock out the golden prize and force the rematch! XD
Kirkland hasn't fought Golovkin.
My mistake, Mr. Clarke. I was reading Mr. Stevens wanted a rematch with Mr. Golovkin and got confused. :/
Maybe I'll go back to lurking... have fun!
J. Louis
M. Ali
L. Holmes
J. Dempsey
G. Foreman
L. Lewis
J. Johnson
S. Liston
G. Tunney
E. Holyfield
.......R. Bowe, R. Marciano, M. Tyson, S. Langford...........
I could put Ali at number one, but what Joe Louis did was unsurpassed. At that time, in those circumstances and then the way the government treated him afterwards. I always put my arm around the shoulder of his statue when I pass it by here in Las Vegas. What a hero!
While that interview was happening, I was wishing that Mr. Walters had just left the ring without giving an interview. I hope he can rise up from this low moment.
Mr. Arum sure did look like the cat that swallowed the canary.
Pacquiao had six loses. Got put to sleep by a Mexian warrior. Floyd is undefeated, refers to himself and his fanboys as the best eva. Who did he fight? Berto. Best eva fighting the best.
Anyways, Pac was paid a small guarantee in his last fight, according to Arum. And I have a feeling he didn't earn a single cent. He may even have accumulated bills. He's partly to blame because of his penchant for bringing in a large contingent of friends and relatives when he fights. He feeds them, houses them for a minimum of 2 weeks. He's also all over the headlines buying $1 million worth of tickets to give away to anyone he comes in contact with. The guy have a hard time saying no.
What I'm getting from Pac is this, he wants his guarantee of $20 mil back, it doesn't matter who he fights. Arum could give him his best fighter, Crawford, King Kong, whoever. Which Arum doesn't seem to get. Don't waste his time fighting an unknown Australian fighter for $10 mil or less. It's a royal waste of his time.
It's isn't any of my business, but I've had concern for Mr. Pacquiao because he has a hard time saying no. He has so many from so many angles to deal with. I am glad he was able to help Rolando Navarette a few years ago. I was a big fan of his back in the day and he has had a very hard road to travel after his career ended.
What, because he shrug his shoulders/ took a deep breath?
:lol1:
XD
Love both fighters and I don't know who is going to win, but I think this is going to be a cracker of a fight.
I remember Foreman seriously injured his knee during a fight a couple of years ago. I think it was against Cotto. Might have had an ACL tear. A mobile fighter is never the same after that injury no matter what.
I remember that. He tore his knee bad (ACL and Meniscus) and kept fighting. Then after, he said that he kept going because champions don't quit. Championship heart for sure.
Cool. I love reading about warriors in the past. Too many of them from the past for me to choose a number one, but here are a few interesting ones.
Xiahou Dun. Got shot in the eye with an arrow while on horseback. Pulled the arrow out, ate his eyeball and continued to fight for Cao Cao, whom we know from Sun Tzu's The Art of War.
Galvarino. Captured by the Spaniards in Chile and they chopped his hands off. Strapped on blades to his stumps and started jabbing enemies in the throat. Real life wolverine.
Melankomas of Caria. I wonder which of his techniques were lost in time. Olympic champion. Slipping punches, unbreakable defense... it would have been something to watch him box in those first Olympics. :)
Thanks for saying that. Some people obviously don't know when to shut the fuck up.
As to your earlier post, it was awful to watch. Diaz made some type of scream or unintelligle utterance to the referee and collapsed. It was something that I won't soon forget, unfortunately. I'd have rather not seen it.
I agree. That sound he made in response to the referee was very unsettling. I hope he is able to pull through. My prayers to Diaz, his family and friends.
