many people have started late, but if you notice what they have in common, they are all in the higher weight classes. You can get away with that in the higher weight classes, where age and speed don't mean as much. But in the lower weight classes, you can't do that. Name some fighters that are in low weight class that turned pro 25+ and were successful
Gamboa was 25 when he turned pro, still going strong at 30. And he's a fair bit smaller, hell his first gold was at Flyweight. But yeah, the clock is ticking. If dude waits until after 2016, he might as well not bother.
Na but a certain Gamboa will send Broner into retirement and onto the cast of Barber Shop 9.
I liked Gamboa against Broner at 130, but no way is he jumping up two weight classes to beat him now. Paulie would make it interesting, but naaaaa.
Last year at LW for the World Championship vs the 2011 PanAm winner Yasniel Toledo, a tall quick Cuban southpaw.
Wicked 5 punch combo to the body and hook to the head to floor Toledo.
Haters would love this fight. One great fighter has to lose huh? Lol. **** aint happening anyway. Floyd retiring soon.
Lol at Broner being a great fighter.
Props to Morales' performance and if he needs/wants to continue fighting more power to him, but I have no desire to see him fight anymore this far past his prime.
Good matchup. I'd favor Toney, but wouldn't bet a ton on it because you never knew which James would show up. It is possible that Ward will continue to improve after his upcoming fight with Dawson and later maybe Dirrell.
Dude is a physical freak. Only 1 person in 100,000 can do a one arm pull up and this dude cranks them out like nothing.
Go to 1:42, one arms are at 2:23.
Impossible to tell whether his AM prowess will translate to the pros, but waiting until 2016 to find out would be crazy.
if he rematches Kessler and beats him he has got to be in top 7 in my opinion
Depends on how Dawson and Bradley do in their next fights, because Ward and Pac aren't going to drop out of the top 7, unless they lose badly.
I know Toney made CW last year, but given that he was back to 250 a few months ago, I can't see him making it now. If he can though he beats Roy at this stage.
A top 10 or 5 middle weight. His achievements were great and legacy is sealed. Dirty or not a great boxer!
Damn, you beat me to it. I was gonna say surely Larry means top 10 ATG MW.
Well it certainly hasn't done him any good to have 6 (ultimately 9) of the best fighters in the division tied up for a couple years fighting each other, while Bute fought lesser competition. But I thought it was common knowledge that the Super 6 was set up from the beginning as 3 Fat Yanks vs 3 Eurobums, no room for a Canuck like Bute.
I dont know whats more embarrassing:
1. The fact that Bernard fought a blown up WW in DLH
2. the fact he was losing on the cards when DLH took a dive.
Uh no, no he was not.
Depends on whether Khan can keep Bradley from smothering his punches. I'd give Amir the edge, but I'm curious as to the TS reasoning behind Khan having the advantage at 147.
I was being sarcastic my friend. I know my history.
It's crazy how many people don't know that these states belonged to Mexico just as recently as 164 years ago.
And Spain as recently as 191 years ago. To be fair, Mexico was highly unstable for the short span between those events and indeed all the way until they created a constitution 95 years ago.
But yeah, JMM has wicked powers of recuperation, or perhaps less than perfect balance.
Already agreed on rematch. Both guys get interim bouts.
I think Bute wants a tune up first, can't really blame the guy for that.
Nah I don't blame him, that first fight was brutal. So much so that I can't see any way out for Bute in a rematch, short of a perfectly placed body shot. And given his inability to get inside Froch's reach without getting battered, that's looking extremely slim.
Odd to see Pavlik relegated to "stay busy fight" status.
