Aaayyyy! Shout out to all the guys who were giving credit to Loma since way back when....lots of non-believers back then.
You can see who the bandwagoners are now. :lol1:
Been following him since 2007. Right handed southpaw who's favorite fighter is mike tyson

Watching him now. He looks like the complete package. he can do everything really, really well.
Yes he is very good and technically sound. I think the would be a good pro but he chose to go the semi pro route with the AIBA pro league. I believe the traditional pro route would be better for a talent like him. I can see him wanting out of AIBA in a few years but it will take a while before the champions will believe he deserves a shot. I can see Vasly being with AIBA for about 4 years where he will be around 29 when he leaves and I think he will have to wait close to two years before a champion will fight him. Winning gold medals at 24 plus means very little to me especially if you already have two. In 4 more years he will be 28-29 fighting 18 year olds smh.
Lol at people hating. This kid is clearly special. Rigondeaux didn't go pro until 28 I believe and he is one of the best at 122 right now. Going 300 wins with only 1 loss is incredible.
To be fair, Rigo didn't exactly have a choice to go pro whenever he wanted lol
Still, He's been impressive and is clearly better than the competition. Wish they'd risk it and give him a chance to be a great pro. No shame in living off his olympic success and fight cans for a living...but it'd be a waste. We'll see.
I’m a little more excited about this kid (since my first post where I ignored the corner of the video lol). Kid has got some skills, disciplined fighter and he’s an exciting guy to watch - Looking forward to watching him in the pros…whenever.
Yeah, unless he turns pro anytime soon...it's hard to take him seriously AS A PRO...from the 20sec I saw, I was reminded of Khan...still that amateur style that will only serve so well in the pros.
Exactly my thoughts. I can't help to think Pirog, remember him? He blasted a good American prospect a few years ago and what did they do with that momentum? Nothing. It's like they are so afraid of international embarrassment they don't dare to let their biggest talents try! Makes me mad! Why waste talent like this?
Pirog's momentum is completely gone. Pulling out of the Golovkin fight was the last straw for me. What a complete waste these last two years of his career have been.
Yeah, but that will still allow him to box in the Olympics and ****. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but he will not be actually fighting for rankings/world titles or anything. Just getting paid to fight now and without headgear.
Thanks for the info, I didn't know this. Sauerland or K2 would have signed him in a heartbeat, put him on a Klitschko undercard, he'd get his name out there quick.

I thought he signed with AIBA's new professional boxing venture. I can seem them moving him painfully slow though.

I'd be impressed if this guy was 17, not fukin 24. He will go down as a great amateur fighter but that's all he will ever be. To put it in perspective, he is in the same weight class as Adrien Broner. Imagine him fighting Broner right now in the pros, he'd get destroyed. And yes that is a fair fight because he is 24 and Broner is only 22.
This. The pros are much different and the way I see them managing him, he looks like a should have would have could have and not a will be. Even as he signed the "pro" contract it's not a pro contract per say, it's a contract which will enable him to make some money in a closed circuit pro promotion while maintaining olympic eligibility, so it's not like he will capture a belt and defend it. Hell of a fighter but like many eastern fighters, his management really prevents him from trying bigger things.
Lomachenko would be a decent pro (although he's totally wasting his talent) but I'm not convinced he'd be a p4p fighter. Lomachenko's style is perfect for the way amateur matches are scored but it would also be a decent pro style. The most impressive part of Lomachenko's game is his footwork. However, the main problems with Lomachenko is that he's easy to turn at times and sometimes his head movement is very easy to time. His style also makes it a little too easy to catch him coming in at times. This isn't a major problem in the amateur ranks but in the pros where there will be rangy and powerful counterpunchers it will get him hurt. I'm not convinced he'll fix his habits that will get him caught in the pros at this stage and I think any rangy clever boxer with decent speed would give him major issues. He'd probably be a bit too predictable for a 12 round fight against someone with the aforementioned style. Whenever he comes forward he does the same thing and it wouldn't be a big ask to catch him with a hard check hook when he tries to cut off the ring. Since headgear won't be worn taking such punches from pros and not amateurs will cause problems. Don't get me wrong, all amateurs have flaws but at Lomachenko's age I don't see him correcting them quick enough. Another potential problem for Lomachenko is uppercuts - an underused tool in amateur boxing. At times Lomachenko is a sucker for them.
Well in the ABP he will be put vs the best
If you have watched the WSB, you know the majority of the fights are between fighters with the same level, the best in the amateur world.
That's why the majority have at least one loss.
Just look at Terrel Gausha record 5-2. If he had become pro with GBP for example his first loss at least would have come at his 20 something fight.
the best amateurs are exactly that. the best amateurs. being pitted against each other does very little for these guys pro wise. the best amateur is leagues below the best pro level guys. and in order to fight at that level guys like lomechenko simply need to fight pros. not this semi pro bull****. I don't see how this does anything for any of these guys besides making them money until the next Olympics.
hes never gonna turn pro it seems. so he'll be fun to watch but he'll be fighting amateurs and tomato cans. to me hes wasting his talent. but if he wants to keep fighting for gold medals, who am i to say hes wrong.

Wow, I didn't know Vasyl only had one recorded loss.
I disagree with those that aren't impressed with Lomachenko and think he'll be a bust as a pro. I think the kid has the talent, the skill-set and the discipline to be successful. I also believe Vasyl will provide the excitement fans crave. If this bullshit AIBA venture doesn't sabotage his career potential, Lomachenko will be a star. I'd bet on it.
