Do you agree? I think Sergio is too inactive and since he wont fight GGG, GGG deserves the spot despite Sergio having the better resume.
GGG is the top middleweight. IMO he is the middleweight to beat.
i just hope to see him back soon
Didn't he just unify last night lol
He unified the WBA and WBC at welterweight. The ultimate goal is typically to unify all titles (WBC.WBA.WBO.IBF.Ring) = undisputed champion of a particular division
I've watched several of Flanagan's fight. The guy sucks. He struggled in his last two fights. Crolla sucks too.
Verdejo should beat Flanagan if he is what they (Top Rank and the other people hyping him up) think he is.
I'm not on the Verdejo bandwagon, but this is their Golden opportunity.
Flanagan would be the easiest title shot. Crolla is not available and I don't think Verdejo is even ranked in the top 15 by the WBA. Also, apparently Warren wants Flanagan to unify against Zlaticanin. Zlaticanin would obviously be a much tougher fight for Verdejo. I doubt Top Rank would want to put Felix in there against Dejan anytime soon. Their best bet is to get Flanagan before Dejan does.
Mikey Garcia is also looking at Flanagan. Top Rank should also try to get Flanagan before Mikey does.
Up until last month, he was ranked top 10 in WBC, WBO, and either IBF or WBA
the only people who thought it was tainted was ricans and bitter cotto fans.
doug fischer and the NSAC already debunked the whole plaster thing.
tony just out stamina'd cotto. fair win
That's not true
It doesn't surprise me that you are trashing yet another good white fighter since you are clearly a pro black anti white racist boxing fan. You trashed Kovalev earlier today and you're just getting started. Canelo usually fights in Vegas which is the fight capitol of the world and neutral territory. Your beloved Ward is a boxer who has almost all of his fights in the Oakland Arena where he can break all boxing rules with immunity and fight as dirty as he wants to without even a warning from the ref. Canelo has never even been knocked down in near 50 pro fights so it's unlikely he will get KOed but keep on wishing and dreaming. dang, dude just got owned lolol
Tainted how?
Where was the evidence he used anything against Cotto?
The rematch with Cotto the only difference was Margarito then had a bad eye and Cotto managed to luck out and inflict the damage on that without it there is a good chance Cotto would have got beat up once again.
"Styles make fights"
There was evidence that he had loaded wraps. Everyone knows this. The outcome of their rematch showed who the better boxer is.

The kid has it all! He'll be bigger than Verdejo or Pedraza!
I like Machado. He has a bright future. I've seen him fight live. Very fan friendly. Rangey south paw. LIke 5'10. Only had about 14 fights under his belt. Hard to compare to Verdejo. Two very different styles. I like both styles. Verdejo is rangey too long jabs and a brilliant amateur career. Also watch out for Christopher Pitufo Diaz, also from Team Diamante. Lots if energy intensity and stacking wins. All these guys could end up in the same weight divison
I have literally not seen one GGG fanboy say one positive thing about the upcoming Ward-Kovalev fight, which happens to be the best and most important fight to be made in all of boxing-probably in recent memory too. Two prime, undefeated fighters in the top 5 p4p. When was the last time this happened? Oscar vs Tito? This is a historic fight and all I hear from them is b1tching and moaning about irrelevant sh1t. Sad to see. Maybe they are just insecure that their hero isn't challenging himself like Ward and projecting their anger at him? I can't wait for this fight and honestly would be happy if either fighter wins as I like both fighters.

Two fighters doing it the right way.:boxing:
I've been following Golovkin for about 5 yeara now and have seen him fight live. I've been following Kovalev for longer and have seen him fight live and have met em twice. Perhaps that makes me a "fan boy" of both... from my perspective, I remember taking a selfie with Sergey sitting in the 2nd row of Mikey Garcia vs Burgos. Sergey sat behind me along with Tapia. Many people just walked by Sergey. Meanwhile, Andre was suited and booted and a commentator at ringside for HBO with ppl asking for autographs. It's great to see someone climb and now find themselves holding an arm full of titles and now facing someone like Ward who needs no introduction. IMO it's a nod to days when you fought who you had to fight simply because they were standing in the middle of the road towards someone being what many would call P4P best. I wish it happened more often and congrats to both fighters. I am unsure what that has to do with the middleweight champion however
I'm one and can't speak for all of us. When I go to a Verdejo fight or watch a card with Mexican fighters there's a lot of support. And there are many exciting Latino prospects. Unimas solo boxeo is back and you'll see a good fan base there.
I disagree. Schooling would require a technical/boxing IQ/ability & advantage over Cotto which is not the case. Attributes as it relates to age are a different story. IMO it'd be an interesting fight to see. Didn't this guy lose to Bradley and Khan??
Correct. I think the ref even got caught up in the fanfare for Brook. He called it a mulligan but it was a knockdown. No matter in the end. Brook's lucky his corner threw in the towel. He would in all likelihood have sustained a career ending injury. Fractured eye socket is bad enough.
Yeah, that's a serious injury too. And he wants a puncher like Canelo next. Pffft. His career just just cut short
Rewatched fight. Lmao. Ggg carried Brook too.
First round ggg backs brook into ropes. Ferocious liver shot then buckles him with a double left hook upstairs.
Magically. Ggg gets inactive and let's Brook recover. Lol
I mean was ggg out of gas? Was he hurt? No and no. He let brook recover for a good minute
Took it easy on the 2nd. Then turned it up in the 4th again then 5th. He was faster in the 5th than he was in the first.
Complete beast
I completely agree. Boxing went out the window in that fight. Brook was a couple of shots away from getting knocked out on his feet right at the end.
same here, imho both provo and maidana should have gotten the nod.
I have seen quite a few high profile fights where the fighter with most punches thrown/landed (a Mayweather fight included) did not win the fight. Provo pressed the action the entire fight. He landed the most power shots. He floored goof troop twice in the first for a 10-6 round. In return Provo got him with some solid jabs sure but the majority were a lot of pitty-pat punches while on the run. AND let me say that he took a fair amount of non-sportsman-like punches during breaks and moments where a respectable fighter would cease to stop throwing. This was a major, and I mean major robbery. Others disagree. But it's my opinion. I know HBO agrees with me..
As for Maidana, I think it was a draw. But as many commentators have mentioned in the past on more than one occasion, you have to win convincingly to de-thrown a champion. And he lost a chunk of the middle rounds. The Garcia fight in PR I didn't watch but heard it was super questionable.
If this Algeri guy, or however it's spelled, fights someone with some defense and good ring movement it's going to be an early night. #mamaguevo
I say Verdejo wins. These two have fought before in the amateurs. In fact, Verdejo's only loss ever came as an amateur and was to Lomachenko. It wasn't a significant victory nor stoppage. Verdejo, while not having fought any major opponents has handled his business like no other thus far. I would rather go with a guy who has a handful of 20 something second knockouts against tin-cans than a guy who loses to an experienced opponent.
Sick of ya Ward fans crying about **** that has to do with GGG.
I know right. Worry about people in that same weight class. Ward doesn't have all the titles in his division. That's what he should be focused on. Or the handful of great potential bouts at light heavyweight.
GGG has defeated two of the Ring's current top ten fighters at Middleweight. And by impressive KO. Sturm isn't going to fight him and cough up the IBF. Quillin isn't going to fight him and cough up his WBO. And I think he fights on rival networks anyhow. Geale had his fight in Australia and couldn't do April 26th, not that it matters now anyhow due to bereavement. What does that leave you with?
You have an Andy Lee (ranked top ten WBC and WBO), Sergio Martinez (pending the outcome of Cotto/Martinez), you have a potential Geale down the road (who is decently ranked for WBO), maybe a Darren Barker (just lost his IBF in Dec 2013), maybe a Martin Murray who is highly ranked by most sanctioning bodies and number one contender for GGG's WBA.
These are the fights Team GGG are probably looking for to clean out Middleweight division - in hopes of unifying titles at Middleweight. Not Ward, not Lara, not JCC and God knows who else in some other weight division. Those guys are all superstars in their division. Now its time for Gennady to be the superstar in the Middleweight class. All he has to do is get these fools to sign the dotted line...
Now if I see one more uncalled for thread about GGG I'm gonna go crazy. Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh!!!!!!!
A year or 2 from now it will be the same story. I hope & pray to God that GGG gets fights with Sergio Martinez/Cotto winner or the #2 fighter in the world Andre Ward so he can be exposed as Lucian Butte part 2. Anyone else notice how a lot of the posters & people who were hyping Lucian Butte are the same ones hyping GGG?
Non-sense. This doesn't even deserve a response. Shut this thread down.
JCC. I would like to see GGG some day but not anytime soon. I hope GGG goes after other titles at middleweight first. Then step up to super middleweight. Anyhow GGG would knock the socks off this guy
I have been asking this same question for week.s Sure hd did great things in the olympics and prior to becoming pro, but there is absolutely no justification, zero, for getting right to the front of the line for a title shot in his seceond pro fight.
WBC seems to be the most recognizable. truth is it's the most corrupt. one example, mayweather sucker punched his way to the 147 belt ages ago and he's still listed as their champ.
WBO on the other hand strip fighters of belt all the time. pacquiao won against bradley, review commision even said so but they still did not reverse the decision.
WBA has two types of champion, a world champion and a "super" world champion. wtf? arum once said he had to pay them to have his fighters ranked higher.
IBF champions pretty much earn jack shit. they've been linked with racketeering and bribery.
it's all for good business i guess.
your thoughts?
There is foolery in all of the sanctioning bodies. As a result, I favor whatever belt looks cooler. WBO and WBC
First match
Please let me know what you guys think.
Thanks.

good movement. good use of the jab. there is a lot of back and forth movement and not enough lateral movement. and your cross/hooks come in really wide with no hip movement or leg movement. when you throw those you leave yourself open for a massive counter. overall a good first fight. someone comment on no power. if you put your whole body into some of those crosses and hooks they will have more impact. tighten them up some. and make all those shots count. you have some good stuff against them near the ropes.
Sutherland versus Adonis Stevenson
Stevenson's power is always a concern and Suth might overlook him due to overconfidence
LOL I feel like I vaguely remember this
Showtime should release Lara for this fight. Its win-win situation.
That's what would have to happen, because as of right now both are under contract with rival networks.
