Ive got a well deserved break from work and Ive been watching some of the fights i have saved on my DVR. I ran across Ortiz vs Jennings. What I didnt remember from the first time I watched this fight was some of the really good work Jennings did on the inside. To the point I think Ortiz changed his game a little to boxing. What I took away from this was that Ortiz can be touched pretty solidly on the inside and two Jennings is a damn good fighter with almost no experience in the game. This dude fought Wlad and Ortiz back to back. Where the hell is he? Id love to see this guy get a few cofidence builders then get back in the mix. Why does he not have a fight lined up?
He weighed in as low as 218 for a fight. I think he could make cruiserweight. It would suit him better. He is outweighed by the top heavyweights 20-30 lbs and he won't close that gap on his vegan diet soon.
I think of Jennings as basically a younger Cunningham who was a very good HW but never near as good as he was at CW..
That was a really good fight between two good heavyweights. You don't see many fights at heavyweight anymore where both guys actually fight and look good doing so. I hope Jennings gets back in the mix.
I like Jennings too.
Is Stiverne fighting Joshua? I agree what with Adam said, I'd like to see Jennings and Stiverne.
He needs a fight to get back in W column.
Jennings is very good fighter. I expected him to become known as one of the best in the division. I thought he would beat Ortiz. Hopefully he still has the desire to continue fighting.
I think Jennings is a good opponent for joshua or wilder. He is a guy to give the, rounds without losing too much risk
More realistic fight would be Jennings-stiverne in a crossroads fight
I like Jennings a lot but he's going to always be a little outside the very top tier due to his height and lack of power for a modern HW. He'd be an unstoppable cruiser but not sure he could ever get down there..

You could certainly make the argument that Jennings is the second best American heavyweight right now. Definitely would like to see him more active, because there are a ton of these fringe contenders getting big fights that he could beat. I think because of the back to back losses a lot of people have forgotten about him but he's a legit top 15 heavyweight imo.

nevermind I just noticed you said what I was about to say on post #12 on this thread lol.
Ok.. I never understood the betting odds & how they work.. Could have made some money if I knew how it worked.. :lol1:
Actually Ortiz was the underdog going into the fight.. People expected Jennings to win easily over Ortiz after going full distance with Wlad.. He gave good account of himself in the Ortiz fight until he became reckless and started trading with Ortiz.. But you are are right about his lack of power at HW.. He knocked out Spzilka but again Spzilka has been chinned by lesser caliber guys before..

I don't recall many people backing Jennings against Ortiz, on here at least anyway.
Oh ok.. I am not necessarily a betting man. But you are right.. the bookies had Ortiz as the favorite, but many experts picked Jennings to get the W..

Jennings is pretty skilled for a HW. No power whatsoever though.
I respect him for getting in the ring with Ortiz.
