Good fight. I like the fact that Stevenson got screwed. But if Hopkins wins against Kovalev it might have not hurt him that much though because he'll get to fight Hopkins anyway. I'm just glad that he wasn't rewarded a fight with Hopkins right off the bat since he ducked Kovalev.
You're doing the opposite, bro. People are saying Cotto should duck Golovkin for Canelo are asking for competitive fights. People who are asking for Golovkin vs Cotto are asking for mismatches.
Lol I mean don't get me wrong I don't think Cotto stands a chance really, but come on man you can't claim lineage to a title if you are gonna side step your number one challenger. Is this anymore of a mismatch than Cotto-Bradley? And we aren't gonna see a Cotto-Canelo fight this year which is bs. That fight should happen this year. And I'll laugh at Cotto if he fights Bradley or a bum while Canelo fights Kirkland.
If Cotto would've stayed at 154 or 147 I would really have no desire to see Cotto-Golovkin. But since he decided to step up to win THE TITLE, this fight needs to happen then. And besides that, if Cotto stopped Martinez that means there is a slight chance that he could maybe have the power to at least be competitive or possibly win. He'd be the underdog though.
You're right in a sense, but it works both ways. GGG never moved up in Ward's division yet where as Cotto has. Cotto is in GGG's division and is ranked #1 Middleweight in the world after winning a title against an injury prone old fighter. That looks a hell of a lot more sketchy to me than GGG not fighting Ward. Although I agree He should fight Ward eventually if Ward keeps winning and don't move up in weight.
I'm just tired of all these cherry pickers. Nothing ruins the sport (is pro boxing really a sport these days?) as "champs" that fight nobodies, buy refs., pick gloves for their opponent, fight people out of their weight so as to not put their title on the line or wait until the time is right to face shot/old/injured opponents. Its fking pathetic.
Fits Cotto perfectly. Lol everybody says he's got this great resume with Alfonzo Gomezes and Broncos. On top of the fighters that he has caught at the end of their careers like Martinez and Mosley and people praise him like some kind of god. He's a pathetic excuse for a champ.
This fight is a step down from the Rios fight. And even that was pretty one sided. But Rios was understandable because Pac needed a chance to redeem himself from the KO loss. My theory is, if all the marketable interesting fighters in Pac's division are managed by Haymon or GB, then Roach and Pac should've took that into consideration. I get tired of hearing excuses like oh Arum don't do business with Haymon. Don't get me wrong, I hate Bob Arum. But we need to start blaming the fighters too. I get tired of this.
geale's definitely not a real talent, but he is one of the top 5 MW in the world right now. so was matt macklin. stevens was in the top 10 in a couple of different ranking entities.
none of these guys are anything to write home about, but golvokin is f#cking destroying them.
cotto beat delvin rodriguez to get his MW title shot.
Add insult to the issue, Martinez barely beat Macklin and Cotto saw this so he jumped on a guy who was on the decline. Yet his fan boys are giving him a pass for holding the middleweight belt hostage.
He barely beat Macklin? :lol1: :lol1: Which fight did you watch?
I was thinking of the other dude that a lotta people say Martinez got beat by and got a gift my bad, can't think of his name.
Lol talk about a diva. Don't care about fighting the best just wants to milk big money fights. We will probably see Cotto and Canelo fight even if Canelo doesn't win against Lara. Boxing is rigged.
I like Glen Johnson, but I think the dude is a gate keeper for the elite fighters at this point. Really think his career took a down turn after he got screwed in his first fight with Chad Dawson. He hasn't looked like the better version of himself ever since. It's sad to watch.
I don't mean this post to only Mexicans, but anybody in general who is trying to justify the dirty fighting that Mares did. There is a reason why fighters like Ward, Bradley, and even occasionally Hopkins get hated on. When you do things to bend the rules in your favor whether if it is intentional headbutting (not the head clash of where both Mares and Agbeko caused at the same time) or low blows you are gonna get criticized. Period. So quit trying to justify all those low blows that Mares threw and landed.
He even threw a lot of kidney punches to the back too. The kind that Rahman landed on Toney in their first fight, only worse. The dude is just a dirty fighter whether if it is blatantly deliberate or not.
I think Johnson won against Cloud by a slim margin when they fought, but I still think Cloud is a more dangerous fight at this point and Bute used not moving up to 175 for and excuse not to fight Cloud. Which I guess this means that Johnson is gonna fight Bute at 168 I take it?
Since his two losses to Dawson, Johnson gave good fights to Cloud and Froch, both being among the best in their division. Not that bad for a gatekeeper.
I'm a big fan of Johnson, but he just isn't getting any younger and it seems like he does enough just to lose competitively instead of winning. Got to respect him for his determination. Just don't think he is the same as he used to be when he was younger.
I think Agbeko should just try to get a fight with Donaire and forget about Mares. He already proved that he could hang with him even with a cheating ref and the low blows. Take away all that and he probably wins the fight with a better training camp.
Mares doesn't impress me at all, I'm sorry. And it doesn't have anything to do with Mexicans in general.
The motherfucker still lied through his damn teeth saying that all the blows that Mares landed were legal after the camera shows Mora in the camera doing the hand lifting signal to keep the punches up. Made me sick. Lol.
If Cotto fought any of the following guys: Lara, Angulo, Molina, Mike Jones, or even Saul Alvarez like what was discussed in another thread then I couldn't criticize him. But whether he fights any of these guys after the Margarito rematch remains to be seen. And like somebody else said, if he can't beat this version of Margarito then he isn't that good at this point and he should just retire
Do you really want me to bust out the articles of Marquez saying this?
It's not my fault that Marquez was a coward and turned the fight down.
Now that Morales guy in your sig......that's a true warrior and a mexican badass............Marquez ehhhh not so much.
I have pretty much turned on JMM. I was a fan of his about a year ago, but now I can pretty much see how overrated his resume is. He turned down Khan too for a chance to become a four division champ and all he wants to do is ride Pacquaio's coat tails for the paydays. Lol.
Morales is a guy who fights all comers like he is doing next month and is creating his own legacy even while he is past his prime. I can respect a guy like that a lot more.
And Morales offered JMM a fight and JMM ducked him. Techincally twice if you want to stop to think about it.
I just hope Arum doesn't pussyfoot with this fight like he did with Juan Ma and Gamboa. Maybe Garcia and Gamboa fight a couple more fights until then, but strike the iron while it's hot.
