Let me start off by saying that I'm a fan of Golovkin. He's not the fastest boxer in the world, but he's very smart, and puts punches together very well. And obviously he's strong as hell. He's a beast, I'll give him that. But why do HBO act like NOBODY wants to fight him? They went as far as pulling up a Froch quote saying that Froch wouldn't want to fight him. I remember seeing a post fight interview where GGG and his team said they'll fight ANYONE from 154 to 168. Andre Ward called him out on this, and gladly said he'd fight GGG. HBO made no mention of this at all. And now GGG changed his tune, and says he wants to just fight in the 160 division against of all people, Miguel Cotto (Who used to fight at 140 years ago). It's pretty obvious to me that GGG is way too big and strong for anyone at 160 at this point, so why not fight Ward at 168?
GGG/Geale went as scripted, GGG won impressively like he was supposed to. After he called out Cotto. Good move, winnable fight for good money.
Notice how a Ward fight was never mentioned? Not by team GGG, and certainly not by the HBO drones.
If team GGG thought he could beat Ward, they would take the fight. They don't. It's that simple

You're right in a sense, but it works both ways. GGG never moved up in Ward's division yet where as Cotto has. Cotto is in GGG's division and is ranked #1 Middleweight in the world after winning a title against an injury prone old fighter. That looks a hell of a lot more sketchy to me than GGG not fighting Ward. Although I agree He should fight Ward eventually if Ward keeps winning and don't move up in weight.
He's still overhyped after walking through a top MW and former champion who barely lost to Barker?
You a HATA!
If Geale was/is a top MW than the MW division is a joke. I did say I was impressed. But Geale was hand picked. I thought he came to fight and just didn't roll over, which was why I was impressed. But Geale couldn't punch. However I thought he showed some good movement and put his punches together. He just didn't have any power.
GGG is over hyped but last nights win was impressive. I think it's time for the big fights. If they can't get Cotto than move up and fight at 168. I don't want to see no more tomato cans.
Very true. If HBO can find a way to get Cotto $12-15 mil I think he makes the GGG fight. He'd be at MSG and he'd have his home crowd. Would be the biggest boxing event in NYC since Tito v Bhop.

It's pretty obvious to me that Ward has had no one to fight at 168 in 2yrs, why doesn't he go up and fight Kovalev????
I think it's safe to say that GGG is a solid boxer but his power and chin make up for any defensive or other areas where weaknesses may be present. He can take a punch and has so much power in contrast to those around him that little things like a lack of lateral movement are of little consequence.
I think it's high time Cotto steps up to the plate and gives the fans a sure-fire PPV mega show. I don't think anyone out there can honestly say that this fight would not sell like hot cakes...come on now.

first rule of NSB
Anybody who starts a thread with the following:
"first of all/let me start out by saying I'm a fan of INSERT NAME."
Are never actually fans of INSERT NAME.
GGG behind the scenes: "But I will fight anyone."
His advisers: "STFU, and let us handle this. Just smile, and say that you're happy at 160 for the time being."
GGG: "Thank you Max, thank you peoples."

Oh right, the same Cotto who is the lineal middleweight champ right? Gotcha...maybe cotto should vacate and let the big boys go about their business then. Quillen doesn't want any either. Ward vs GGG is not a PPV fight right now. Andre should move up and fight kovalev, He's already cleaned out 168. Or go to England in front of 80,000 fans and fight Froch. Ward gets no more fans then GGG at his shows and he's only been here for 2 years.
