I have to agree, he has not been the most entertaining fighter to watch but ultimately he always wins and the most skillful boxer by a long way that I have seen in my lifetime.
Although I can honestly say until yesterday I had completely forgot this fight was happening on Saturday which I can say has never happened before when Mayweather fights due to the coverage. Just shows you how tame a fight this actually is, although some really good fights on the undercard.
I completely agree, Mayweather's toughest test will be Sugar Shane do not believe the other Welterweight contenders have the skill, speed or power to hurt Mayweather or rough him up.
If you dont know anything about Calzaghe you obviously dont know alot about Boxing. Calzaghe is the better fighter, he's way to fast and busy for Hopkins to keep up especially at 42
No Chance!
I like Pavlik but he ain't gonna a chance of a KO win over Calzaghe, more likely to be the other way round because Pavlik is so easy to hit and Calzaghe is a tricky Southpaw who can trade toe to toe as well. Definite win for Joe can't see Hopkins beating Calzaghe either.
I'm not a fan of these all time P4P lists. I have watched plenty of Robinson and Ali fights but really feel I can only judge fighters I have watched every week in my generation.
People watch a few fights and read a couple of books then all of a sudden have a top 10 which has nobody in they have even seen live in their lifetime.
I can't stand the guy, but the best Boxer I have ever seen in my time is Floyd Mayweather, yet a lot of people rubbish him being in the top 10. If you pick the top 10 most exciting fighters of all time, he will not even be considered.
We have heard it all before off Roach, talks absolute nonsense nowadays - every fighter he has trained to fight Mayweather was going to beat him but somehow ends up being an absolute disaster!
That looks seriously suspicious. I felt & most boxing fans believed Khan won the fight even with the points deductions.
After watching the video, the fight seems corrupt. Never seen anything like it, absoultely disgusted. No wonder the UFC is taking over boxing!
Amir on his day is a quality fighter and can beat anyone, apart from Mayweather.
The guy's he has trouble with tend to be the guy's who are on the front foot pressing him constantly without any let up. The likes of Garcia, Peterson, Maidana and even Diaz most recently.
The fighters he has performed well against have been the more technical fighters who are fighting at a set pace and not pressing the action. He was so comfortable against Malignaggi and Judah because he was allowed to just hit and move. So in many ways I can see him having his successes against Mayweather, but ultimately only one winner whenever Floyd is in the opposite corner.
Certainly a better opponent than Maidana, could not think of an easier opponent for Floyd (just watch the Baldomir fight again if you want to see the result)
Hearn doesn't want it
I think the opposite in that McGuigan doesn't want it - clearly just not entertained listening to the offers on the table.
Frampton can just have some really easy defences and make some really good money with risking anything and then look for the big fights.
Hearn doesn't seem to concerned about throwing his fighters under the bus.
I think Frampton is probably the more skilled boxer but Quigg is just like a dog - he aint going anywhere, hits hard and has energy for days.
Everyone likes Maidana as a fight fan, because he is exciting. However he has literally no chance of winning this fight, not even a punchers chance of winning the fight.
Easiest fight Mayweather has had since Baldomir, pointless fight and not worth even tuning in to watch.
Agree Khan would have been a much better matchup due to the speed he has. But he can't stick to a game plan Khan unfortunately. Mayweather wins that fight either way, can't see anyone beating him.
I fancy khan to beat Peterson in the rematch convincingly. Just watching previously Bradley fight I see him struggling against a faster fighter - both in handspeed and footwork!
Periban was already offered the final eliminator with Degale in the first place but turned it down so it went to Badou Jack who we all know got stopped last night.
Periban had his chance. Bika clinging on to his title, about time Degale stepped up and **** the title off his hands.
Rubbish
Warren chats shit, I know and everyone knows Haye would KO Enzo. It would be a good fight to put on but why would he fight Enzo when he is the mandatory to beat The Cruiserweight Champ Mormeck. Warren is a joke
Are you Martin's family member or lover? He turned down fights in Canada and Monaco against Golovkin that were offered to him and dropped his WBA interm title when he was Golovkin's mandatory so he wouldn't have to fight him. Now he's the WBC Silver belt holder so we'll see if he's finally willing or will drop another belt.
I forgot you were involved in the negotiations for the Golovkin fight - what a ridiculous statement for me to make.
The guy is literally shouting for a fight against Golovkin. Even Golovkins ****ing promoters are saying Murray wants the fight. Murray has barely got a pot to piss in so he aint turning down the money that will come with facing Golovkin.
Believe anything you read you turd! ha
Would love to see this fight, don't think there will come a point where I would not enjoy watching Broner get beat. Khan more than capable of putting a beating on Broner, he tends to struggle with the come forward fighters such as Garcia, Maidana and Peterson.
I'm not sure if I want to see a B-Hop/Joe C fight. I would much rather see Joe fight Roy. Is that a possability?
I don't think that fight will ever happen Calzaghe wanted that fight a few years ago but has stated it would not interest him now because he has been KO'd by much lesser fighters than himself in Tarver and Johnson.
Oh my days, Americans have had an absolute shocker in the Boxing. To be fair i'm English and was cherring for the Indian lad, but that was a shocking decision. Errol Spence was all over him in the third and considering the Indian fighter had just a 1 point advantage it should have been a clear win. The referee even lifted the Americans hand thinking he had won and was shocked when he heard red corner. I genuinely think the Indian fighter did not relaise he won, because as soon as the ref raised Spence's hand the Indian fighter congratualted him and walked out of the ring shaking his head.
Again im british and british fight 'fans' dont know ****....man aint even top ****ing 30. Look at people like willie pep, henry armstrong, etc.....imagine what lamotta would do p4p to floyd.....floyd would get pole axed by duran hearns et al!....and for that poster that said 'duran isnt top 10 sorry' the only thing i agree with is you apoligising!....typical brit....sees joe calzaghes ****ing name there and doesnt batter an eyelid, sees duran and has a problem......YALL DONT KNOW **** ABOUT BOXING......but welcome to england where expert commentary is provided by a fat pub man in bunce, and fighters have to 'sell tickets' themselves to fight......and they wonder why its dead over here!
This generation must be next to useless if you put Mayweather outside the top 30, crazy talk!
Tell ya what, Junior, why don't you bring your ass over here and fight a few times, like your boy Ricky Hatton did? Maybe then you'll be able to get some recognition.
Here are a few fighters and venues for you:
Ricardo Torres in Miami, Fl
Paulie Malignaggi in New York
Kendal Holt in Atlantic City or NY
Demetrius Hopkins in Las Vegas (great way to get under the GBP banner)
Juan Lazcano in Las Vegas or LA
Herman Ngoudjo in NY or even Canada on FNFs.
If you hurry, you might even be able to get on the Dec 8 card right under Mayweather-Hatton, especially if you pick D-Hop as your opponent as I'm sure B-Hop wouldn't mind giving his nephew a title shot on that card. It will also be a pretty easy win for you as I doubt D-Hop would go the distance.
You dont need to fight in America to get recognition not many of your fighters fight outside America (Mayweather, Hopkins when they wud earn more money). Malignaggi is to scared he aint getting any recognition from me, Witter will beat Paulie easily I think. You got to get in Witters face to beat him. Ricky wud take him apart. I wud not fight Hopkins cos u can get stupid decisions like the Forbes fight which he clearly lost.
im not sure but didnt he turn down a bunch of big fights against ggg and chavez or somethin?
Murray aint turned any fight down, unfortunately he has a convictions which has affected him getting a Visa to fight in the US.
The guy went in to Sturm and Martinez's backyard and won the fight in most people's eyes but got done out of a decision on both so very doubtful he will be concerned about GGG and Chavez is just a bum living of his Dad's name!
Murray is comfortably the best of the British fighters over recent years which includes Barker, Macklin and Lee.
Nobody likes Bellew and Hearn can just **** off with all these bull **** Stadium fights - Bellew is not Hatton or Froch. He has a fan base as big as Junior Witter!
Although would happily see Lebedev beat him, only British fighter I have no time for at all!
Well spotted, just summed up how Europeans see Americans they have no idea what happens outside of America. Why doesn't Mayweather come to England and fight outside his country, they all call Calzaghe, so why doesn't Floyd see how he deals with a hostile Manchester crowd.
Calzaghe is a joke and doesn't stand a hope in hell's chance of running Kessler close because he simply hasn't mixed in good class since Woodhall, and has only had about five fights in the last five years. He can't even hit the bag because his hand is so fucked. And the guy has zero personality, that's why nobody cares about him in Britain.
Nobody in Britain gives a flying fuck about this fight, and neither do the Americans. Once Kessler disposes of this joke and his promoter, hopefully they'll be forgotten.
The top fighter in Britain is Ricky Hatton by a country mile and the future fighters are David Haye and Carl Froch.
I think Calzaghes comments have obviously got to you, because what he has said is true. Calzaghe makes alot more money than Hopkins does, Hopkins needs Calzaghe in order to make some proper money he made $3million for fighting Winky yet Calzaghe is earning £5million. I agree Hatton is the top man in Britain but Joe has a very big fan base unlike Hopkins and Wright who I respect as excellent fighters. To say the Americans are not interested in the fights is bollocks as well your the first person I have heard come out with that.
Yea Americans are not bunch of blind butt munchers like the rest of the world, they will not go sing some corny songs together and pay to see one of their top fighters fighting a guy like Manfredo Jr. :lol1:
Joe did not sell any stadiums out before the Lacy fight, he turned into a god after the Lacy fight, again that's all it take to become a god in UK.
Mayweather/Delahoya could've sold over 100,000 tickets if they wanted the fight in a stadium, American fights is all about the PPV's, not how many idiot comes to a stadium, that's not where the money is.
We sing corny songs the americans are the corniest peops in the world. USA, USA, USA, USA. You watch a basketball match and all you hear all game is DEFENCE then it's fuckin OFFENCE then they repeat that all game, it would drive me mad. You get a bit of passion out of the English and get behind there fighter and don't start booing 2 rounds into a fight because some fighters are not brawlers.
A lot of people who post on here just come back with the bigeest load of nonsense without any reasoned argument other than discrediting Malignaggi because he questions whether Floyd would win the Khan fight.
I think a lot who bother to watch Khan apart from the times he has been KO'd know his speed is no joke and at this stage of Floyd's career he is without doubt faster.
Floyd will avoid that fight like the plague!
I know what u mean, but let be honest, the big fights are in america,
I really dont understand this Kessler fight hype, he is nowhere near as dangerous as lacy was, he is just a solid fighter with two alphabet belts, thats it, i live in london, and im really not bothered too much about this fight.
For all the shit talk about ticket sales, lets be honest
If Calzaghe kessler was on PPV, would you buy it?
I wouldnt
I wud personally at the end of the day this fight just unifies the division once and for all and then Joe can move on to Light Heavy. If there is a decent undercard I may even go I've heard Maccarinelli may be fighting Steve Cunningham on the undercard which would be good. If it was in Manc I wud defo go.
Kovalev is the Top Man in the division by a long way, Pascal is a better fighter than Stevenson but would love Kovalev to KO Stevenson, but seems like Stevenson is happy picking up cheques for fighting average opposition instead of getting KTFO - which I suppose makes sense!
