Scott Quigg says he is “150 percent confident” he can defend his WBA super-bantamweight title against Japan’s Hidenori Ohtake on Saturday, but has one eye on a future clash with Carl Frampton.

Quigg's fifth defence will form part of the Sky Sports Box Office bill at the sold-out Echo Arena in Liverpool this Saturday.

Quigg told Sky Sports News HQ he had only seen limited footage of the Japanese champion, who is ranked third in the IBF list and fighting outside his home country for the first time in 26 contests (22-1-3).

Quigg dismissed concerns that he would struggle if the fight was drawn out, given his last three contests have not gone past three rounds.

"I live in the gym, so my fitness and my engine aren’t going to be a problem," Quigg said. "If it goes late in the fight then I’ll still have the stamina to keep doing what I’ve done in the gym and take it in the later rounds.

"I’m expecting Ohtake to come out aggressive. He says he’s going for the knockout and I hope he does try and go for that, because I think that will play into my hands and will leave him open, and I’ll exploit that."

Quigg also said that while he was focused on Saturday’s fight, he recognised victory could secure an even bigger match-up, against Ireland’s Carl Frampton.

"That's the fight the public want, the fight I want, and it’s a massive fight for both of us," he said.

"What’s potentially at stake after this fight... there’s big, big fights in the new year that could be made, obviously that brings pressure for Saturday night, but the more the pressure the more I seem to thrive on that and perform."
