Following his knockout win over Vivian Harris, WBC junior welterweight champion Junior Witter told Sportinglife that his most recent win should give him the proper recognition in America and show the world that he can no longer be ignored.
"I want big recognition in America," Witter said. "And I think that this will make them sit up and take note. People don't always like Vivian Harris for whatever reason but everyone knows he is a hell of a fighter and the way I boxed against him has got to be respected. Hopefully this will lead to bigger things. I am the best light-welterweight in the world bar none."
"Whether you weigh 140lb or 147lb, if you get in with me I am going to win."
Witter has been chasing UK-rival Ricky Hatton for years, but is now tired of calling Hatton out and wants to fight one of the other champions in his weight class.
"He (Hatton) is just one of many - and he is not the best of them all," Witter added. "I am fed up of talking about him to be honest. Given the chance I will unify the belts."
According to Witter, his promoter is going to try and secure a bout with IBF champ Paulie Malignaggi. Last week, Witter said that he would be willing to fight Malignaggi in New York's Madison Square Garden.
"A fight against Malignaggi is a very strong possibility and Mick (Hennessey, Witter's promoter) is talking about that. I also have a good feeling about Ricardo Torres for the WBO title, I think that would be a good one for me. It is all about the politics of boxing now, but I am not afraid of anyone."
