WBC/WBO/WBA super middleweight champ Joe Calzaghe has no shortage of potential opponents at super middleweight, light heavyweight or even middleweight. Calzaghe's promoter Frank Warren is working around the clock to secure a fight with light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins.
Jack Loew, trainer of WBO/WBC middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik, said they are interested in facing Calzaghe when Pavlik eventually makes the move to super middleweight. Pavlik takes on Jermain Taylor in a non-title bout at 166-pounds in February. Should he get by Taylor, Loew says the next move is to unify the middleweight titles. But, if the Calzaghe fight comes along with the proper dollar signs, anything is possible.
"I think Kelly will move up [to super middleweight] eventually," said Loew to Sports Illustrated. "Right now, after Taylor, he wants to collect all the middleweight titles. He wants [IBF champion] Arthur Abraham. He wants [WBA champion] Felix Sturm. But we have an interest in fighting Joe. Because we know we would knock him out."
