I once heard a good chin was in the making if you practiced walking around with your chin tucked but your eyes up, build routine. The few times I've sparred other guys with different skill sets, I try to probe my jab as close to my face and short with my side of the head protected. It's not a chin hitting c ontest! Also flashback to Lewis Tyson is on, some of those shots Lennox hit him with, Tyson's head bounced off his left or right shoulder. He conceded to say he can take a hell of a shot, one of those thick necked big headed mfs.
True day! Remember the shot sugar Ray Leonard hit Donny lalonde with? Oooh, he hit him in the Adams apple( throat) it was the punch that almost ended his career. He from my home town.
Hey, do you guys remember those old Hopkins training vids where he wears a skull cao attached to weights? Lifting his head up and down! That's gotta be worth something, as nacho beristeun views bhop as the greatest p4per of all time.
Agapito sancheZ, was shot in the club for dancing with a soldiers wife. He had great losses to Manny Pacquiao and Joan guzman. Was a dirty fighter but Lord rest his soul only 35 years old.
Didn't he (rock Newman) caused a brawl causing Lou devalle have a heart attack where they had to put him on a stretcher and they dropped him? Lol old Lou said oh saint Christmas in his Roman Catholic book of names lol.
My favorite moment was right before the margarito fight they showed Manny stretching his jaw while Freddie trembled with Parkinson's. It gave me the chills, these 2 ordinary guys who achieved greatness by believing in each other becoming great and possibly on the ride of a lifetime to the top. This was the epic summit for Pacquiao, mr margarito at 154! I am super glad he effed up Margo's eye so bad that he did his compadre cotto and stablemate and friend a sincere favour! Cotto is my favorite fighter, but c'mon he put it out there that pac was the greatest in the world after his good stoppage loss. Margaritos machoness would never let down. Anything less than death he would take as much as he could in that fight! Pac said cotto was the hardest fighter he ever fought because it was even on the scoreboard s after 6 rounds plus he gave Pac-Man a cauliflower ear (like in mma) anyway my favorite personal fight of time was cotto margarito 2 but let's admit it, Pacquiao was the person who layed down the groundwork for that! Mabuhay!
I see that JMM is a bit salty and is contradicting himself talking about Mayweather not being a real fighter because he potshots and moves away but also dosnt say anything about Andre Wards dirty tactics. His list is as follows 1 Mayweather
2 Pacquiao
3 Andre Ward
4 Canelo
For fighter of the decade
He says Canelo must unify and fight some young fighters in their prime, but it sounds like another contradiction to me cuz Mayweather did none of that he fought them out of their prime AND slapped them with a big serving of ASide politics. I want to call JMM a hater but I can’t because I almost want to put JMM on my number 2 pick because let’s face it he deserves to be nominated. He’s a fighter who never really got beat in the ring, he always was held back by the politics and never got red carpet ASide treatment. All in all I believe biased or not most of us SHOULD agree that he deserves at the very least to be ahead of Andre Ward and Canelo
Good insight, op I agree, just didn't have that ",it" factor I guess?
1 bowe vs Larry Donald , bowe gave the legend a big smacking punches on the face
2 Vargas mayorga, they needed a plexiglass between them
3 Lewis Tyson is in, a full stream of cops in the ring with uniform
4 teddy laying his hands on Foreman at the press conference with moorer.
5 what about that melee of David Haye and Derek chisora? " He glossed me" lol.
6 tapia trading in guns from people for free tickets with special gang police as lampley said they would read everybodies body language lol.
Apparently lamps daughter was there he was fearing for her safety, then that one part where big George had to pull enforcer saying son put that chair down before you know what's best for you! And lamps meagerly saying yah put that down man.
Let's see, hatton had a screw driver jab, he would lunge in the air and throw that corkscrew jab popping back his opponent s head this getting on the inside to start brawling. This man was the master brawler, the way he dug in body shots was like somebody digging for gold. Not to mention his frenetic pace. Another thing he liked to do was step with the ref on the break so when the ref said break he would be right in their face lol.
Now cotto, very polished, light on his feet, kinda big at 140. With a devastating left hook to the body, almost cuncussed by minor competition but also tough as nails.
Who wins? I would put my money on cotto and see it much like the mayorga fight but every man is entitled to his own opinion. Have you ever seen anybody pump out a brawling masterpiece as ugly as the tszyu hatton fight? These guys were both great fighters pound for pound right behind Manny and Floyd!
Hey man I've sparred with a girl who hits like a man. I was feeling all woozy thru my guard. Then you have Juan Diaz, the reincarrnate of iron Mike Tyson who puts EVERYTHING into his shots but has pillows for fists. No way to teach him that.
Yeah, Raheem was the man back then right? He beat Morales as his claim to fame. Sounds like there coulda been some L's on Manny's record back then. To be fair he fought Shane Mosley.
Reminds me of another fighter who would have seemingly done well on paper tell margarito to his face that he would fight him aka money man
