I remember the Jorge Solis fight where Manny went the 12 distance with a 122 fighter and he got shafted for it, for going the distance with a 122 fighter who lost via knockout just recently. Then Manny KO'ed Morales in 3 and the Solis fight was immediately forgotten.
That is the truth right there . Styles make fights tho and manny more than mad up for it in the coming years
Man, in Vancouver eh? That would be quite a treat for us Canadian s especially on the west coast!
Yes sir where in canada u from ?? Iam in vancouver myself
Manny somewhat avoided Guzman. But not what I mean by ducking. There were so many fights available aT Manny's weight class that Guzman was probably 5th or 6th in line, Manny had a chance to fight Guzman at 06 but choose to fight Solis whom he looked like **** in that fight.
Marquez-Morales-Barrera-Diaz-Campbell, Guzman was never really a first pick.
He didn't avoid Guzman. WTH are you talking about? It was Guzman's undoing the reason he didn't get the Pac fight. First of all, he was fighting low profile and limited opposition. Who was his best win? Sotto? And he's a low profile himself. He had his best chance for a Pac clash when he stepped up the plate and challenged Campbell but he screwed up and failed to make weight. That's where he was completely taken away from the picture. Manny's stock kept rising while Guzman's went downward from then on
And one more thing. I think you got some of your timelines wrong. You're confusing Solis to Larios. Larios was his tune-up fight before the rubber match. Solis fight was afterward
LMAO at people here talking about ducking as if they were following Manny's career. Did somebody just mention Raheem? The guy was never that good living off a single career accomplishment win. Plus Raheem was a 135 lber Manny just recently moved to 130. Should Raheem have gone down to 130 to make that fight? By the time Manny moved 135, Raheem ain't sh.iet anymore
I understand Guzman. But when you have the likes of Marquez and Barrera around, would you have given a pass on them to make a Guzman fight? @ 135 would have been the best time for their clash but Guzman was the one who f.u.ck.ed up as he didn't make weight against Campbell which would have been a nice LW unification between Guzman and Pac later on.
I guess ultimately Guzman lost the sweepstake s then. Basically that's what I call it when they get a shot at Pacquiao. Next up I'm anticipating Danny Garcia.
I think hes just new to the sport bro . Seems like a pretty humble guy . Yes manny fought solis instead they were talking about manny guzman is vancouver canada at the time at 130 that's right . My memory was telling me 135 . When the fight really should have happened was in 2000-2002 . That was a close matchup . That was just before manny moved up to featherweight and started his Apex tare with Barrera. one of the best runs in boxing history . But at super bantam I giv Guzman a shot for sure . Not saying he would win tho

they weren't even in the same division and now manny's ducking raheem lol. with enough time people feel comfortable making up anything.
as for guzman the fight should have happened at 130. they were both top 3 guys but manny fought jorge solis instead. that was probably the biggest miss of his career(not counting floyd since floyd didnt want to fight)

Guzman was a damn good fighter in the mid 00’s, I wish we would’ve got the Scott Harrison fight, I’m sure it nearly happened at some point.
I’d take Pac though, it would be an action packed, explosive fight whilst it lasted but Pacquiao has a deeper and more diverse arsenal. Pac by mid to late stoppage.
And I think it would have been highly competitive for 6-8 rounds and then Guzman slows while Pac does not.
I agree it would be competitive for the first bit I think prolly 4 and then Joan gets overwhelmed ...if we wanna go by common opponent manny drew with Sanchez and guzman kod him in his next fight this was back in 2000 I think it was unification so both fighter kept thie belts but back then none of us hardcore fans recognized the wbo . If it happened then guzman has a real shot . But if it happened at 135 when it was getting mentioned ( which is what I based my mythical prediction on ) then manny ruins him .
Robert and Mikey garcia were asked by top rank back then what they thought of a Pacquiao Guzman match up (Since Mikey sparred both) and they said Guzman beats manny.
they weren't even in the same division and now manny's ducking raheem lol. with enough time people feel comfortable making up anything.

You schooled me son!
Yeah, Raheem was the man back then right? He beat Morales as his claim to fame. Sounds like there coulda been some L's on Manny's record back then. To be fair he fought Shane Mosley.
Reminds me of another fighter who would have seemingly done well on paper tell margarito to his face that he would fight him aka money man

Don’t like getting into the “what-if” stuff but it’s not a secret that Bob didn’t fancy that fight for Manny.
Damn Bob Arun protecting his fighters I guess just doing his job then?
Guzman was only known to hardcore fans and he was only appreciated by about half of em. Pacquiao was destroying action fighters when Joan was a thing. Big risk, little reward. Never made sense.
Wow, that's what happened/ explains why, thanks for that!
