Wasn't an outright fix, but the way Khan-Barrera played out was rigged. MAB had blood spurting out of his head from about the second round, the doctor kept taking a look but doing nothing. Literally the second the fight has gone far enough for a technical decision - BAM the referee stops the fight without hesitation.
Like I said, the cut itself isn't something you can rig, but once it happened it was blatantly fixed to avoid the NC and give a win to Khan.
Pacquiao gets the press, firstly because he's appealing and secondly because he's active.
Floyd gets the numbers, because he's American, obviously.
I don't get why this argument is 'valid' when talking about Pac and PBF. If someone was to ask why Haye gets bigger PPV numbers in the UK than Wlad, is it really not that obvious?
I don't disagree Floyd should get more of the PPV split if they were to fight, if he is getting the higher numbers. But for people to asking why he's getting bigger numbers in his own country, really shouldn't need asking.
You know Ike beat the man that beat Vitali?
Beating someone and "beating" someone are different things. ;)
Don't think Byrd won a round before Vitali retired. I would envisage Ike versus a Klitschko as turning out a bit like Lewis verus Tua.
I really don't see how people can be so sure the Mosley Floyd fought is any different to today's Mosley.
"Coming off 2 KO wins" says nothing to me, because the fights in question were 16 months and 20 months before the Mayweather fight. That's not "coming off" anything, it's history.
To me, the most likely scenario is that Mosley was a beast in January 2009, and by May 2010, something had definitely gone, and that's not at all surprising given his age and the length of time. I wouldn't call it ringrust - just a man's skills permanently ebbing away with age. The Mora fight only seems to confirm this.
I really believe there is probably not that much between the Mosley that Floyd fought, the Mosley that Mora fought, and the Mosley that Pacquiao will be fighting. But that all three are a country mile away from the January 2009 Mosley.
I wouldn't say journeyman, just a couple of echelons below elite. I consider a journeyman to be someone that's always around but never really achieves anything big and just seems to be there to be a step-up win for a prospect.
Khan's already got some decent names on his resume and he can box albeit with the question mark over his chin. I think if he loses (which I can't see him doing), he'll be around PWill's status level (ie not close to elite but still a tough opponent for most very solid boxers).
Are those numbers just from the US? Because that would be a ridiculous comparison surely. If Floyd failed to get more viewers from his own countrymen than someone who hails from the other side of the world, that would be downright embarassing.
Who do we think would get more views in the Philippines?
If the majority of TV revenue comes from US PPV's (which I'm guessing it does), then obviously Floyd should get more of that pot if they fight. But just quoting the numbers just shows the obvious, that an American is more popular in the US that a Philippino.
PPV is only available in America though...
Still, are the comparisons not pointless though? Of course Americans fighting in America are going to garner higher viewing figures in America.
Are those numbers buys in the US or worldwide?
I hope they're not just US because comparing an American's PPV figures in America against a Philippino's makes no sense to me.
Example:
Floyd Mayweather v Shane Mosley = US fighter v US fighter in the US = clearly of interest to Americans
Manny Pacquiao v Joshua Clottey = Philippino fighter v Ghanaian fighter in the US = clearly of much less interest to Americans
Such comparisons are pointless because of the nationality of the fighters and the audience. For Floyd to lose that would just be embarassing to be honest.
Few remember the rock concert after the actual fight. Liston was overcome by the guitar solo and was KO'd again.

Either he's declined fast since last September (he still showed good speed and reflexes against Arreola), or he didn't take this fight very seriously.
Although still, when he finally decided to open up in rounds 9 and 10 he looked pretty potent. Just up to that point he looked slow and a bit disinterested to be honest. Guess none of us know for sure but if it is age, he should retire before someone beats him that really shouldn't.
I'll probably watch the fight, but I'm not really expecting much. Don't know much about Mendy, but from what I can gather he was fighting people with losing records as recent as 4 fights ago (even though he's 37) and was saved by a DQ in the first round of his last fight against Sakio Bika (of all people).
Looking forward to Bute stepping up the level of competition a bit.
what u got? for me this is the dumbest line of all time:
"I want to make his face into a pepperoni pizza with salami and ketchup on it."
Klitscho
Dumb boxers? Do you hold a PhD, speak several languages and play chess to a high level?
phd doesn't make you smart. it's just an achievement. any of us here can attain it with hard work and dedication just like everything else.
ask rene descartes if he plays chess at a high level.
Point is, someone who has achieved all the things I said clearly isn't dumb. It's not hard to see what he meant if you think about it. Imagine a cheesy pizza with pepperoni/ketchup - the cheese being the skin and the pepperoni being bruises/blotches and the ketchup blood.
It sounds a little odd but that's what happens when you talk in a language that isn't your mother tongue. Things don't always translate that well. Anything but "dumb".
Lewis vs Vitali and Lewis vs Tommy Morrison are both on his official record as TKO 6.
Watch both the fights though and make your own mind up if the result was the same in both fights. ;)
WTF are you looking at , they have fought very poor opponents in the worst era of HWs in history , a young Tyson or a Ali would embarras both on the same night Joe Frazier would have tore Briggs a new in 2 rounds , it seems with you guys if one guy beats the other thats all you see .
We're not talking about position as ATGs or how they would do against past heavyweights. The subject of the thread is about them being 'boring' - which is absolutely, completely irrelevant to the their opposition. Make sure you read the title of a thread before you post in it. There are tons of garbage fighters who are far from boring.
Both brothers have among the highest KO percentages in heavyweight history.
Vitali boxes with his hands by his side, throws about 800 punches a fight and has never been knocked down. I read Wlad has been put down 11 times in his career and has remarkable one punch power.
You tell me who's 'boring'.
