Mike Perez I think was the name of the prospect he took out...I'm not sure but it was a good fight while it lasted...I'm not sure when he developed the habit of turning his head when he throws but that is a bad habit...I love his work ethic tho...there is no way this kid won't make noise if he fixes the head turning...the defense etc. will come with time...its kind of hard when you aren't getting rounds in...
In no particular order:
Guillermo Rigondeaux - See fight against Kennedy.
Thomas Dulorme - Explosive.
Adrien Broner - cocky mothefucker but definitely cannot deny his in ring abilities.
Saul Alvarez - Thudding combinations with patience.
Gary Russell Jr. - Fucking fast.
Abner Mares - The dude is a machine.
Omar Figueroa - This dude is way under the radar... his body combos make me cringe.
David Price - Impressive hand speed for a heavyweight.
Mikey Garcia - Technically sound.
Anselmo Moreno - I don't see how anybody can beat this guy in the future.
The commitment to the body and the work ethic...this kid will be making noise soon if he keeps improving.
Darchinyan's fights are becoming drinking games at this point...I'm swigging every time he throws and misses those telegraphed bombs...Del Valle wins the fight as soon as he frustrates him.
Apparently boxing is like highlander and when you beat a hyped fighter you get their hype?...the way people are tired of Garcia already, you'd think he was the one that was overrated for years...
Probably not...I'd damn near expect promoters to hack into their monitor feeds and give them the scores they are expected to have...
I like younger judges...what is the point of having 80 yr old judges if they aren't helping teach the newer generation of judges? 35 and up...Honestly I wouldn't mind them going through tests themselves...eye exams...hand/eye coordination tests...and retiring when they can't pass them. If my health and career is in the hands of a judge, I want to know that they can physically judge what is happening in front of them.
With most its just being a victim of the hype. Hearing a fighter's name linked with another so often that they actually believe the promotion. I like to see a fighter going for a payday to at least scalp a head or two on the level of the boxer they are calling out...Take out the next in line...eliminate the other options and MAKE yourself the only clear challenger...being a mandatory didn't work out for Aydin...doesn't work out for GGG...
It's nice to talk about workman like fighters but how many are there these days? and how many Gatti/Mayweathers or Gatti/DLHs are we willing to sit through because 'it would be nice to see a guy with heart make a few dollars'...at the expense of their motor skills?
Some of these self proclaimed contenders should talk to Hagler, and hear what he had to go through to get a shot...nowadays you get your record in the double digits and you can challenge for a belt...
You saw that lead left hook he landed. Like Floyd does, shoulder roll, similar fighters. Both, very skilled.
And, Benton ring IQ was very high as well. He knew what to do. And, it's a reason why after his fighting days he became such a good trainer. Helped trained Whitaker, Holyfield, McCallum, Meldrick Taylor.
Not sure why the disrespect of past greats.
Yeah. Idk how many times I replayed the right to the body/left uppercut combo in round 1...I don't know if its as much disrespect for past greats or current fighters as much as ppl reacting to the crazy statements the opposing side makes.
My beef is a champion having it in his contract that he won't fight a contender...Personally after his last performance I have no desire for K9 to fight anyone or anything but retirement....His desire to cash out is nice...but I'm not interested in K9 versus ANYONE...not Lara...not Canelo...
I'm not advertising Lara-K9 talk...having it written into your contract that you won't fight an opponent is the most official duck than anything anyone else is being accused of doing...I don't need to personalize it by saying 'who wants to see that fight'...
Lol...Donaire cannot win...If he fights and beats Nish then that won't be enough...if he actually fights BEATS Rigo...(I know that actually SAYING that is blasphemous...) then he'll be accused of ducking Mares and suddenly hes the new savior...there are only like 4 real challenges for Donaire at this weight right now...and its not like he only fights once a year but fight fans want Donaire to fight tourneys that Froch wouldn't accept.
In alot of threads on here other champions are shatted on for avoiding and getting their belts the easy route...but for K9...who makes Kimbo Slice look like Sweetpea...its fine?
I don't care how old K9 is...no one is saying hes too old for Canelo...but hes too old for Lara or any other challenger? He takes tests and exams to keep his boxing license...so he's fair game.
Wow...so basically Steward doesn't have faith in K9...its obvious GBP has no plans on making Lara a star, which is short sighted with as many Cuban fight fans that keep an eye on him...just the story of how far he went to defect is a better story to hear than the Ortiz story they keep shoving every few months...
Steward needs a muzzle...he just made K9 look vaginal tissue if he was aware of that in his contract...
If it was something along the lines of 'no more final elminators' then thats fine...but naming an opponent by name that you refuse to fight? that is pathetic.
If he was then that was his fault...both fighters have time to prepare...if he doesnt use it wisely for whatever reason then its no ones fault but his own. was Marquez supposed to stop midfight and forfeit because it wasn't the best possible Pac?
I liked the vid...it really wasn't bad. Surprised I watched the entire thing because I don't really care for prediction vids but the bit about positive comments piqued my curiosity...You didn't pretend like you know everything about the sport, or like your opinion is gospel so it was easier to watch than most.
I'm going Mayweather. If he really pressures Cotto then I can see it ending by technical knockout or decision...the image of Cotto taking knees is burned into my memory so I cannot choose him over a mentally strong opponent...but I want it to be a good fight so if Cotto can do better than expected I'm all for it...although I don't see how Diaz could push Cotto to unforeseen heights against a fighter who trains as hard as he trained this time ALL the time, He has a reputation of a good trainer for a reason...so I'm just counting the hours at this point.
Seeing as how I don't expect the fight to happen for awhile I don't mind what Ward has said...Dawson shouldn't have opened his mouth...The challenge to Ward was enough...If he would have continued and said that Ward could pick the venue and glove size and ring size and Ward capitalized he'd be wrong for that too? If Dawson is that confident to say that he will go to his weight then he is going to take him up on that challenge because thats what it was...a challenge.
I love it. alot of ppl I know that never watch boxing are coming up to me offering predictions...its hilarious...its great to see promotion everywhere for such a 'dead' sport.
It doesn't help the argument for current ATGs that past champions fought against the backdrops of societal changes like WW2 and civil right movements and the like...Fans who grew up during classic fights associate them to their lives and remember where they were and the excitement they felt stayed with them more than now where if a fighter loses at all they are a bum...fighters were alot more respected...
But you can't forget about the corruption...fighters taking dives...fighters still ducked there just wasn't as much coverage to it as opposed to now...
You should look up and discover fighters for yourself sometime. You'll see similarities between current and past fighters if just in things that current fighters picked up from the fighters they grew up watching.
I am always stumped when it comes to this topic...especially with alot of the obvious prospects already named but I like Omar Figueroa so far...that kid has heart...
That is brutal...over an ex? he really didnt think this one through...when he's locked up she's still going to bed with someone else...and he won't have golf clubs to protect him in there either.
Rios does things like in that video so much that so much that the Roach thing was out of character if anything. He can make a bad first impression but hes shown himself to be a stand up guy.
Agreed. I didn't transition it well, but it was all relative to my point. To keep it short, a superior boxer spanks Maidana every time.
Yep. He has just naturally hit the limits of his current abilities. It may have been the weight or that he has just been scouted but his next few fights will have to be carefully selected.
Don't really see what Nacho could do for him at this stage of his career but at this point he needs a home gym and consistent trainer...not to become one of these boxers who switches gyms and trainers after every obstacle...
Not sure who I'd pick yet...
But I do not think that Pascal could emulate what Campillo did to Cloud...Campillo threw in combination and exposed Clouds footwork...but Hopkins just embarrassed Pascal....BOTH are in need of strong performances and Pascal has been out for awhile after a tough series against the old man...combined with the rust that may affect his mental
Cloud may not be the fastest fighter but Pascal does loop his punches a little much and Cloud's pressure could just be enough...might be a good scrap...
Sergio is at the age where he could get old out of the blue...he should probably take a fight if just to remain active...He could just 'get old' tomorrow...
I wouldnt mind Vanes...I'd look at it as just a tune up or an activity fight. GG would be high risk but at his age all could be but it doesn't matter who he fights if his payday is in Sept...
If they do fight tho and I don't see it happening but if Vanes wins it he wins it...its boxing...
