This is not even the best fight that can be made in either of the guys respective division let alone all of boxing.
your entitled to your opinion. this is the fight i want to see most in boxing though, it was ward-dirrell and now its ward-dawson. ppl like diffrent kinds of fights and diffrent types of fighters, this is what i love most about boxing. two fast, smart, technical fighters having a high speed chessmatch.
This would be so boring.
Boring and most importantly free and it's between two prime fighters.
Pacquiao vs Mosley cost 60-70 bucks. It was a prime guy vs an old ass man, and it was boring.
Give me the boring, but prime Ward vs Dawson all day, which will probably be more competitive.
so basically just relieve Dawson of the fact that he said he would be willing to come down? he said that in part of his call out, you can't just expect Ward not to hold him to that because Ward may not be ready just yet to move up and the one doing the calling out is Dawson not the other way around so it's on Dawson to come see Ward
Ward welcomes this fight with open arms but he didn't call out Chad to be responsible for moving out of his weight class for him, that's on Chad for saying that he could come down to 168 with no problem. you can't just run your mouth and go public saying something and not expect to get held to that. besides, how do you know Ward can move up just yet? he hasn't shown me an inability to make 168 he feels fine there and still has unfinished business there, no need to budge on his end if Chad wants some he has to go get it
This would be so boring.
this is probably the best fight that could be made in all of boxing imo. two young fighters just coming into their primes, both are highly skilled and in contention to become the p4p king of the next generation. fighting now when they are the most hungry.
both of them are poetry in motion in the ring, fighters you feel truly blessed to be living in the same era as. two boxing prodigys, two young atg's in the making squaring of in what would be a display of skills, intelligence and physical talent at the very highest level, boxing at its very best. im almost getting a froching broner just thinking about it, no homo.
If Dawson said he can make 168 (he's been saying this for years) then how the **** is that Ward taking advantage?
Dawson called him out and said this, Ward didn't go looking for the fight and use the weight to hold him to ransom.
exactly.. ppl forget dawson turned pro at 160. he a big guy but hes got those paul williams genes, right now hes bulked up but he could easily drop weight and fight at 168. alot of ppl assume bcuz he looks so big he cuts weight from like 190 but thats not true, chad is like 180 going into camp and usually makes 175 long before the weigh in.
most importantly chad said himself he was willing to fight ward at 168. he didnt say he wanted ward then ward said he had to come down to fight him. dawson said he was willing to fight at 168 and could make it with no problem. cant blame ward at all.
also some ppl brought up how ward was a light heavy in the ams, that was just for the olympics so dirrell could compete at MW. ward is that great a guy he moved up and fought much bigger guys to let a fellow american compete in the olympics. so when ppl say he looks for advantages i laugh, ward will fight anyone under fair circumstances. just bcuz he doesnt go out of his way to make things difficult for himself every fight doesnt mean hes looking for an easy way out.

175 or no fight. F**k that s**t. Just wait to fight him until 2013-2014 after you finish out your last few fights at 168, and let him avenge his loss to Pascal and rack up a couple more solid wins.
Seeing as how I don't expect the fight to happen for awhile I don't mind what Ward has said...Dawson shouldn't have opened his mouth...The challenge to Ward was enough...If he would have continued and said that Ward could pick the venue and glove size and ring size and Ward capitalized he'd be wrong for that too? If Dawson is that confident to say that he will go to his weight then he is going to take him up on that challenge because thats what it was...a challenge.
I didn't see anything about this in the first page, but I hope it has been mentioned that Chad Dawson offered himself "at 168 or 175". Meaning either or.
So if Ward wants to fight at 168, he's not doing anything that Dawson does not want to do/he's not forcing Chad to do anything. Chad offered himself at 168.
Please make this fight happen, no matter how boring it ends up being. Rather see it now than down the line, risking more losses, or one is too much better than the other/one fell from grace. They're both coming off really good wins, now is the time. Seems like they both want it too.
I like Dawson more, and would be rooting for him to win. But my boy Ward probably outfights him in a tough fight. Idk, it's 50-50 in my eyes.
Well if he can't fight Ward, there is WBA LHW champion Beibut Shumenov, lol. That is the perfect fight for Dawson right now. Dawson should get his rest and pick up an ABC belt.

People keep talking about Ward use to be a LHW but Dawson has had a ton of fights at SMW and even MW. You have to be fair both ways and remember that Dawson called him out, Ward is the bigger name, and Ward has other guys to fight. He dont have to come to LHW for Dawson.
I dont get why Ward should do Dawson a favor. Why the hell should Ward come to Dawson? Makes no sense at all. Dawson has to atleast come to 168 or dont come at all. Again, its not like Ward is screaming for the fight or that Ward has to move up right now or that Dawson is the name. NO.
I agree with you only because I don't want to see both boxers fight right now. There is a ton of fights for Ward at 168, and there is a ton of fights for Dawson at 175. Maybe a couple fights down the line after they are done fighting the best in their division, Ward can move up. Because I don't think Dawson will be at his best at 168.
I think Dawson should grab an ABC belt which is Beibut Shumenov for now, and then fight the winner of Pascal/Cloud.

Dawson should just wait for the winner of Cloud vs Pascal, he shouldn't go down JUST FOR WARD...he haven't fought at 168 since 2006 I think
in a year or two it is a good chance Ward will move up anyway, no need to rush it, these are two fighters in their Prime right now with plenty of years left
Great comment...they are acting like they want to negotiate this fight tomorrow...he needs to rest up, and fight a bum like pascal or cloud...after that, he can fight ward!
