I have never seen a fight promoted more than this from what I have noticed from movie theaters, commercials, 24/7 on TNT, radio ads, and ads in the newspaper. From what I have heard it is impossible to miss the advertisement for this fight while in Las Vegas. This is going to lead to massive PPV Buys and movie theater ticket sales and closed circuit sales.
This fight may of had a lot of advertising but the hype isn't there. I havn't heard anyone talking about this fight. I hear more about the Avenger movie by far.
I expect floyd to do something at the weigh in to gain attention. Similar to how he choked ortiz at the weigh in which should be punished with a fine or suspension at the very least.
I personally saw more ads for Mosley. Not saying it was more heavily promoted, just what I saw. I do dvr more stuff now so that probably is part of the reason I havent seen much for this fight.
IMO Floyd/DLH had much more promotion. That one was crazy. It was even being promoted like crazy on the radio. The last time I heard an ad on the radio for a Floyd fight was Floyd/Shane.
Just imagine if Floyd and Manny were fighting on Saturday. HBO would be having a 24-hour Roadblock program.
I see this getting 1.4-1.6 million PPVs.
The promotion may be massive, but there are plenty of tickets out there at discount prices. I think perhaps the public is finally turning against both Mayweather and Pacquiao.
Also, in an economy as tough as the US is right now, I wonder how many people are really going to keep lining the pockets of a multi-millionaire who "fights for Floyd Mayweather".
Mehhh tickets are ridiculously priced for most Floyd fights
In the Ortiz fight, more then 3000 tickets went unsold. Same in the JMM fight

Really? I really haven't seen or heard anything out here in VA.
I saw a Pac ad on T.V when he was going to fight Marquez on adult swim... last time I saw a boxing advert... and I keep that on on the regular
That was crazy when i was going down the highway and Floyd and DLH were on a billboard, heavy promoting for that fight.
This fight is also getting a vicious amount aswelll, a lot of prime time commercials too, they really want this to be a high seller.
Just imagine if floyd and manny were to fight each other
The most I've seen to this day is De La Hoya-Mayweather. Everywhere you turned that fight had a plug and the first 24/7 had the whole sport talking

I love it. alot of ppl I know that never watch boxing are coming up to me offering predictions...its hilarious...its great to see promotion everywhere for such a 'dead' sport.
I've heard it said and read before that Mayweather-Marquez was the costliest promotion ever and that pulled a little over a million PPV viewers and fell well short of a sell-out. You can't gauge for sure how great it will go on how many ads you come across I don't think. It will depend on whether casuals will think it could be an exciting fight and can be drawn in because of Cotto's name. Cotto has had more PPV exposure than most other fighters today, and rarely been in a dull fight, so chances are it probably will do quite well. You also have to factor in a backlash from the ending of Mayweather's last fight which could effect some sales from people who bought that one and were left dissapointed.
That's because this fight needs the promotion. Anyone with a brain knows that Cotto has no chance.
Easy work for Mayweather. He has to do all he can to sell this fight as though it'll actually be competitive.
It's a huge fight. I don't think the hype has been all that over the top.
What other fights have gone off in the past three years or so, that match the general level of expectation that this one has?
Because Mayweather is the biggest draw in boxing by far, and the world will be watching. Are you just figuring that out? And of course Cotto will pull a crowd, of the Cotto fanbase for this fight, 15% of them are legit Cotto fans, the other 85% are Pac tards on the bandwagon hoping for an upset.
