James Kirkland to have surgery on his right shoulder next week.

Funny how people say Kirkand is a bum when he went into fight with a shoulder injury, got held 118 times (every 15 seconds), had arm held the entire fight, got hit with Molina's head all night, got held anytime he was within 5 feet of Molina......and he still managed to win 3 of those 10 rounds, and almost stopped Molina win the 10th, had it not been for Molina holding 16 times in that round. real talk!!! I wish Kirk a speedy recovery....dude is the REALEST mofo in the game!!!

Kirkland looked "off" the other night. His punches weren't as fluid as usual and he looked slow and lethargic. The HBO crew stated that he was more muscular and jacked up than in his last fight - which could be reason for his off performance.. Also, what became of Kirkland not submitting a urine sample? Kirkland peed right after the fight. Kirkland injured his shoulder in or before the fight. Explains why his jab was non-existent and why he didn't push Molina off him.

Makes you wonder if Ann's extreme training with Kirkland might had him injured going into the fight

I kept thinking to myself. "Why does Kirkland looks so weak?" It can't just be Molina. This would explain a lot. Incredible that he came on late with the two tears. Molina wasn't even close to being stopped in the 10th. I wasn't even a very clean kd, it happened at the end of the round, and Molina got up right away and had his legs under him. That's not close to being stopped. Close to being stopped is what Sanchez did to Wilfredo Gomez in the first round. I do respect Kirkland for fighting with the injury. But injury or no injury I doubt kirkland is ever on top of 154. He hasn't looked good against Ishida, Angulo, and Molina and I don't see him doing better against Alvarez, Trout, or Lara.

I think a healthy Kirkland gets to PW early and often. The southpaw stance happens to be PW's kypyonite as well. Paul might be able to heart Kirkland early. Stun. But not enough to KO. Kirkland gets closer and KO's Paul late. Agreed. If Paul hasn't learned defense by now, he never will, and Kirkland will eventually get to him. Should be a really fun fight if it happens.

I'm just hoping that Kirkland's performance the other night was more about his injured shoulder and Molina holding every 15 seconds than what he's going to bring in the future. I was screaming for him to just throw Molina off of him and kick his a$$, like he did in 10th. Molina was holding again and Kirkland just pushed and shoved him off into the ropes and went at him. Obviously, he had an injured shoulder, which probably played a roll in why it seemed like Kirkland was just letting Molina hold him all night. I had Molina up 88-83 going into the 10th. So, with the KD, Kirkland would have been down 96-93 on my card going into the last two rounds.

Paul Williams beats Kirkland. Way too much hand speed. I don't think Williams would be holding all night like Molina though. I think a healthy Kirkland gets to PW early and often. the guy is a warrior. but i kno how that is, to have tears and not want to complain about them. but for an athlete, it could be dangerous. hope he get back in the ring soon, i dunno what this meant for the molina fight, but at least he didnt complain about it and use it as an excuse. Paul Williams is a brave motherfucker. I'm surprised a Kirkland matchup was in the works because Williams seemed hesitant about it in his last post fight interview.

James Kirkland to have surgery Updated: March 30, 2012, 10:56 AM ET By Dan Rafael | ESPN.com Junior middleweight contender James Kirkland suffered two tears in his right shoulder during his controversial 10th-round disqualification victory against Carlos Molina last Saturday night and will undergo arthroscopic surgery Monday, co-manager Michael Miller said. Kirkland will be operated on by San Antonio shoulder specialist Dr. Phil Jacobs, Miller said. Jacobs examined Kirkland because he had been complaining of pain in the shoulder following the fight at Reliant Arena in Houston. "James was complaining after the fight about his right shoulder a lot. James is the epitome of a non-complainer," Miller said, "so I was thinking there has to be something to it. "I said if it's just sore, that's one thing. But if it's really hurting on Sunday, call me. James called me on Sunday and said it was hurting him like crazy." Miller arranged for him to see Jacobs on Tuesday in San Antonio. "They did an MRI and, sure enough, he needs surgery," Miller said. "He had two tears. They think it happened in the fight." The injury certainly could be an explanation for Kirkland's poor performance and general lack of aggression, which he is known for. Molina had dominated the fight but Kirkland, who was trailing on two scorecards, dropped him just as the bell rang to end the 10th round. However, Molina was disqualified by referee Jon Schorle in a highly controversial decision when one of Molina's cornermen entered the ring, even though the bell had rung and Molina had easily gotten to his feet. Schorle, however, was still giving the mandatory eight-count. Miller said Kirkland (31-1, 27 KOs) would be out for at least three months following surgery. The wait kills the plan for a Showtime main event against Paul Williams at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., on June 30. Williams-Kirkland had been in the works under the assumption that Kirkland defeated Molina and would be ready to fight in June. "The doctor said there was some damage and some parts of the shoulder that needed to be tightened up," Miller said. "It's supposed to be a 45-minute surgery on an out-patient basis. James is supposed to show up at noon, surgery at 1 and he should be out by 5. He'll have his arm in a sling for three weeks, and then after that he's supposed to have a two-month physical therapy regimen. "But Dr. Jacobs said, 'I anticipate three months until you're back doing what you were doing before the surgery.' The doctor knew something was wrong because he could feel it in James' shoulder even before the MRI, but he said James would be good as new." Warriors Boxing promoter Leon Margules, meanwhile, filed a formal appeal this week on behalf of Molina (19-5-2, 6 KOs) with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which oversees boxing in the state. He is seeking to have the result of the fight changed to a no-contest because he believes Schorle did not apply the rules correctly and that the round should have been over as soon as Molina had beaten the 10-count, which he did before his cornerman entered the ring.

Props to JK he is a certified warrior in my mind, I don't know if he could had stop Molina in the 11 or 12 round but I'd watch a rematch, specially with a ref that will hold the rules, you know the clinching ones, get well soon JK...

his shoulder was blown going into the fight................. he didn't want to pull out or complain because he prides himself on being a warrior. he still refuses to mention the surgery that he's having on his shoulder to the media. how in the world could anyone hate this guy is beyond me..............
