When I saw his legs shaking on the ground I kept thinking of Stanley Ketchel-Jack Johnson. I also thought when he got up he'd be flailing like when Zab went down against Tszyu.
What a heart he's got. Going against Hasegawa I thought he'd get beaten because of his performance against Valdez. But he faced two quality opponents in a row, as has Donaire.
Hasegawa is a fighter whose become so unpredictable. The string of decision wins to start off his career then the first round knockout run recently and now these two losses where he took monstrous lefts and then a right last night. Hope he can recover he's one of my favorites. Congrats to Jhonny.
He should fight more often if he wants wider respect. But I've rarely heard anyone who follows the sport talk down on his skill and technique (which I feel are excellent), so he does get the respect he deserves in my mind.
He's not the kind of person that would want to be a showman anyway, just wants to do well enough in the sport and retire young anyway. From what I've read he's not interested in wide acclaim and notierity, he's more of a family man.
Cuello is supposed to fight Roman Gonzalez, which is a huge step up in competition. It should be explosive though.
Oh yea, I've heard this would be on the undercard of the Erik Morales fight on July 17, I hope its on television or the internet should be interesting. A real baptism by fire for Cuello going in with such an elite fighter like Gonzalez.
Some people are so butt hurt about Pacquiao winning the fighter of Decade Award. Just move on it shouldn't effect your sad life.
Come on we're in a new decade just move on.
Pascal's a fine opponent, proved it against Froch and then Diaconu twice. Looking forward to that fight. Fighting Bute and Pascal will do almost identical things for Dawson, money will probably be similar too. He still won't be marketable or known in the United States fighting either opponent.
One other thing to remember Pascal is semi proven at LHW, Bute would be a wild card
Definitley a fight to set the dials for. Hope Berto also uses other means because I just don't see Miguel logging into twitter tonight to follow Andre Berto's daily routine. But thats just me.
Well....he has been getting up to 130 in between fights and had to lose a decent amount of weight the week leadi0ng up to the fight.
Yea I think the days of him bringing fried chicken to weigh ins and taunting his opponents with it may be over (at least in the Flyweight Division). Imagine if he fought Darchinyan. That fight would need some sort of 24/7 series. The lead up would be must see TV. The fight wouldn't be bad either.
Off topic, but I'm totally bummed about Arjen Robben's injury I was gonna pick Dutch in WC pool. aaaaaaaaaahh...
When you imply you want to take 1-2 year breaks during a big fight negotiation, you have to be able to take the heat, which I'm sure he can, he doesn't need all of these fanboy threads, he's a grown up.
At least he should start up of a movie career like Dempsey.
I personally don't think Cotto ever lost "it." Keeping it close with Clottey with one functioning eye proved to me that he still had the skill and warrior spirit that many thought had been taken in his first loss. Losing to Pacquiao in my eyes was just losing to a great fighter and nothing more than that. When you fight great opposition eventually you will lose and win.
Foreman was a game opponent that has a significant size advantage a good boxing performance against him further proved that Cotto has what it takes to remain at the elite level. Bring on the lions Miguel's only 29 and he's hungry!
"Pacquiao vs Cotto 2: Redemption" at Cotto's new weight limit 154 pounds. This is a fairly attractive matchup if others are unable to be met. And I think this is probably going to end up happening.
Cotto proved to me that he still had an elite career when he fought closley with Clottey with one functioning eye. Last night also proved to me his future is bright, he looked spry, quick and his jab was on point.
Should rematch Wonjongkam
I agree. I think a rematch would not only be entertaining and competitive like their last fight but could benefit both guys careers alot. It also seems like the most possible quality fight in that division because of the Japan-Thai connection and relativley close proximity.
Not his first offense, the Father for the Kameda's is a bit of a douchebag anyway
Yea, that scene in the corner during the Daiki-Naito fight seemed to tell it all. They basically told him to foul and elbow to get back into the fight (Koki was caught red handed, dunno about Dad.) Because of this its hard to muster up sympathy even for a harsh sentence.
Floyd said every one of his fights was like a Super Bowl, so he'd only fight once a year. Now he thinks each of his fight is like an Olympics so he's taking a two year break. I hope he doesn't watch the World Cup and get any ideas.
Yea I have to agree these reports about HBO dropping the Klitschkos are really a footnote rather than a front page story. They makes so much more money with their RTL deal than anything than anything HBO was throwing their way anyway.
Thats pretty much why their promoters have been making no effort to market them in the United states. It hasn't been as profitable as in Germany and theirs no niche to fill.
There's a reason the National Football League only has one game a year in Europe and European football clubs only play a few friendlies in the United States. Same goes for most in boxing.
Frank Carwin will be playing the role of the great white hope.:lol1:
Can't believe it'll be 100 years ago tomorrow, feels like yesterday.

So I guess Ina Lost. I'm guessing it was an upset, but I didn't know much about her opponent. From this video she looks solid as a tank.
Thanks for the post I forgot about this one.
