The ref asked the corner if they throw the towel and they say yes.
But I agree Yuris corner was mess, total lack of leadership.
Why they didn't stand up after throwing the towel and do something.
Those guys should go back to amateur boxing where they belong
Foreman deserves credit for a brave Rocky Balboa-ish performance, but his corner should be reprimanded for their indecisiveness and failure to protect their fighter who was only boxing for pride at that point. If it really was them that threw in the towel then they should've owned up to it to referee and put their foot down and told Yuri, enough is enough. It's great that he showed guts and heart, but he was risking permanent injury to himself but fighting on.
Speaking of towels. You'd think the boxing commission would've come up with an idea that maybe every trainer should be given a special towel with some kind of special insignia or color that distinguishes it from any other towel so when the ref sees a towel land in the ring, he knows right away if its legit or not.
Gained more respect for Yuri, when he had to he went toe to toe instead of quiting. That is not in his game and I have never seen him do that before. Very impressed by both fighters performance that night
Find Uriah Faber/Mike Brown 2 before you say that.
dont ever disgrace the sport of boxing again by comparing 2 mmgay fighters to it
ive seen that pathetic fight...it was nothing special...whenever the going got tough, they took the easy route out and wrestled...not to mention that none of those guys can throw a proper punch for their lives, so the punches that DO land arent hurting anywhere near as much as a boxers punch
It was crazy watching it, I just remember Hopkins putting on those shameful antics against Calzaghe and Roy than I look at Yuri getting up from his busted knee face all bloody ready to fight....he didn't eve take the full 5 minutes, mad props to him
I completely agree with this thread.
This is why boxing is the best sport. Many people thought this was going to be a boring fight and it turned out to be a dramatic fight, with excellent skills by Cotto and tremendous heart by Foreman. With boxing you never know what's going to happen that's why I love it.
yep. boxing is the only sport that can provide that because its tests a persons character/soul
not basketball
not football
not baseball
and ESPECIALLY not MMGAY

Round of the Year candidate. Encompasses so much of what is great about boxing. The resilency, sheer guts. I was baked as fukk and it was amazing to watch.
Yo Mary J. Love that you can be impartial like that here and there. Green K.
with that kind of performance and heart, any of you guys looking to see foreman again?
in my honest opinion, foreman should retire and give up boxing
not because hes bad or anything, but because he has a future in his religion ahead of him
he had his moment to shine, and he shined. he would always be remembered as a "fighter" and a man with a tremendous heart. thats a great way to go out and go on to your future endeavors. i dont see him winning against any of the big name fighters so theres no point in continuing this brutal sport for him, especially since he already has other plans for his future

Sadly he doesn't have much of a chance against upper tier guys. If this was a competition of courage he'd blow half of them out of the water, but skills wise he's a limited fighter with a limited future I hate to say.

Hell yeah! I mean I love basketball but it can't compare to how amazing boxing is. Boxing shows us what men are really made out of. In basketball, you can have a bad game, miss shots, and still have your team win. But in boxing its all up to YOU, the guy in the ring.
Boxing is a badass sport.

I agree. I want to see the round again. When I was watching it live I thought it might be a contender for round of the year, I doubt Ill have the same feeling watching it again.
Ionno, Reggie scoring back to back 3's against The Knicks was pretty dramatic, but I mostly agree.
was reggies face busted up? was his knee busted up? was he faced with a man in front of him whos intentions were to inflict as much physical pain as possible on you (whos highly trained at doing that too). was reggie tired and spent beyond his wildest dreams? was reggie's character as a MAN being tested?
the answer to all the above is NO. he was sitting down drinking gatorade on a ****ing bench half the game..
no comparison whatsoever
