It's a commercial/marketing tool often used to sell fighters placed this mythical scale by comparing them to other champs of other divisions and thereby selling off strong points of a certain fighter such as resume or how many titles they own. In essence, it doesn't mean much at all. It's subjective nature negates any real sense of clarity and credibility and is a poor barometer imo to compare fighters from other divisions as other divisions may be much more competitive than those pre- and proceeding it.
I hope Fury beats the living fuck out of Haye because Haye is nothing but a cheap con artist who has deceived millions of the paying public into falsely believing he's the saviour of the division when in fact he's nothing but a part time boxer, part time whatever else.

Chelo gave as good as he got and going to war in that 7th round took everything out of him. It was pointless and he expended waaaaaaaay too much energy going for finish. He needs to pace himself better so he's not wasting energy when things are going his way.

I cant agree with you guys more on your definition of P4P but imho now that weight jumping is almost a norm, some bigger jumps than the norm like Manny and Floyd, strengthening further their P4P caliber, but this also put shade of grey on the equation as some perform a lot better going up than others...
I wouldn't put much stock into jumping weightclasses because look at it this way - between 105 pounds (minimumweight) to 140 pounds (light welterweight) is a difference of 32 pounds which equates to an astonishing 9 weight classes in between. Add 30 pounds to 140 pounds, equating to 170 pounds, and there's only 4 weightclasses in that span.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is that it's too easy for someone in the lower weights to rise through and dominate the competition. They gave to gain from as little as 4 to 7 pounds to move up. I respect someone who goes from 140 to 168 as opposed to 105 to 140
