Who is more overrated: Mike Tyson or Muhammad Ali?

Tyson with ease. I dony even have him in my top 50 p4p. He was known for his violence, not his resume.

Mike, probably the most hyped athlete of the modern era but he didn't quite live up to the billing unlike Ali.

His status came from beating every heavyweight that mattered during the best era in the history of the division. It's why Lewis and Holy rate so high despite losses too. They fought in the second best era ever. Times matter.

Neither is over rated! The went as far as their talents could take them. Tyson could have done more but he needed his team to get over the challenges from a great Evander at that time and a very well prepared Buster! Its not an excuse its a fact!! After that its like anyone else just hanging out there "picking up the pennies"! Even the very best get beat at their end, for the heavies it can get dangerous. Sugar Ray traveling the world and loosing close decisions isn't the same result as Mike or Ali getting beat up by guys they would have destroyed in their pime!!! But hey, thats boxing! Ray

I tend to think Ali because he lost a few fights while still in his prime. Yes, he had a chance to fight the best on a regular basis but I just think Joe Louis was the GOAT. When comparing Tyson to Ali, it's not even close. Ali is hands down the GOAT HW, and in some people's list, like mine, THE GOAT. That doesn't mean Tyson was some bum. In his ABSOLUTE PRIME, he would've been a handful for any HW boxer in the history of the sport. Exactly, but as usual...some fanatics believe that post prison Tyson is the best Tyson.
