He needs a no nonsense trainer aka:
Anne Wolf
Emanuel Steward
or
someone like a Pedro Diaz or Nacho Beristain
However I think if Ortiz wants a real shake up he should consider training with Bernard Hopkins(I know he is not a trainer but I think joining him in a training camp along with nazeem richardson would do wonders) because if there is one guy who can rattle Ortiz in every single way it would be Hopkins who will not coddle nor baby Ortiz you can believe that and in the long run it may even help him.
Who knows, but until Ortiz makes an official announcement I guess it's a matter of wait and see.
It's a shame that it had to go this way
Morrison should have gotten the assistance he needed when he was first diagnosed with aids but now he is a shell of his former self.
hmmm
I would rather see Gamboa vs Soto at 130 or 135
that would be an interesting fight
Rios/Gamboa has too much size disparity imo
but I would enjoy it regardless:boxing:
I might get shot down for this one but I think the only two fights of intrest in my opinion regarding Oscar is either against:
1.Trinidad
2.Chavez Jr
I think a Hoya/Trinidad rematch would blow the roof of the MGM grand with all the Mexican/Puerto Rican/American/ fans in the stand and plus you get to watch two legends go to war for at least one more time.
Chavez Jr. The implications for Chavez jr are as the following:
Revenge for Chavez Sr
Big PPV event for Jr
All in all though I perfer the first possibility since I think it would have an easier time getting made as opposed to Chavez jr/Cotto/Margarito since they are all under Top Rank and so forth.
Well
825k to 950k
This fight will be huge on the east coast 50/50 everywhere else.
It all depends on how well Top Rank and co promote the fight but if they are doing a 24-7 I guess it will be interesting to hear both fighters opinions on the controversy about the hand wraps and so forth and hell with a solid undercard maybe it can be a sleeper hit on ppv.
of topic but I just want to say that Margs eye still looks nasty and even if the fight is months away a good punch from Cotto could possibly blind him on that eye.
Most will say he got what he deserved others will be more sympathetic
we will see on fight night.
Hmmm
I don't think James Tony was insinuating anything against Puerto Ricans nor there fighters.
Tony chose poor words but all he was trying to say was that Ortiz did not fight like a Mexican fighter despite the fact that Ortiz is infact Mex/American and the refrence of the Puerto Rican flag was Tony's way of saying that don't represent your country unless you fight like you give a damm and if you cant bring it come out with some other flag. Too bad Tony did not pick better words however but he was not ripping ricans.
It was altogether illogical (especially his refrences to the Klitschko's) and it's unfortunate that people like "La Migra" and others will take great offense over something so petty and small from a desperate fighter but since Mex and Ricans will always fight over boxing supremacy and what not, it feels like it's just a bunch of noise now.
Let's get along Hermanos the real enemy is Ignorance and Poverty.
This is Boxing
Pacquiao COULD have won via a KO or perhaps Marquez could haveADJUSTED and KO'd Pacquiao the latter rounds.
Anything is possible
Both men delivered an epic entertaining fight and we as fans should be proud of that and threads like this are all about excuses about what could have been to salvage ego and hurt feelings.
Lets assume hypothetically speaking that Marquez got knocked out BUT he lead in the compu box with most punches thrown and connected but he still lost by KO in the 11th round or so and Pacquiao is bleeding and was dropped a few times but still managed the KO victory. Does that mean that Marquez/Boxing fans should declare "Oh Wait Marquez was on his way to winning Pacquiao connected with a lucky punch!" How would you or other Pacquiao/Boxing fans feel about that???
I respect both fighters but this is why Boxing is so special because ANYTHING can happen win lose or draw.
Of course we are all entitled to our own opinion and all sides have the same equal rights to express them on a public forum.
Take care all
Was Nacho Beristáin exposed after Kirkland knocked out Angulo as an average trainer?
How about Freddie Roach? is he average after Linares lost to Demarco?
Neither of those men are average trainers imo.
And you know what? neither is Wilfredo Vázquez sr who had a solid game plan for the most part.
Garcia is a good trainer because at the end of the day it's all about results and thus far Nonito Donaire and Rios and Mikey Garcia and others in his gym are doing quite well. The Seckbach videos have created certain ideas of Robert and the methods of his training but he is really solid and a good teacher.
I think that the problem for Nonito in this fight was that perhaps he was trying a little to hard to please the fans and went in recklessly with a broken hand no less to give a show. Nonito did not respect Vázquez nor his power and simply went through the motions showing off and playing to the crowd while trying to get a knockout while Vázquez was following his own game plan and trying to avoid the knockout and trying to win as well.
Nonito needs to relax, listen to his corner, and he be careful because we have yet to see how well his power will carry over to 122 but as always it will be fun to watch cause Nonito is a hell of a fighter. He will be fine though because if he ever fights the Gamboa's or Rigondeauxs of the world you know he will follow a more disciplined and intelligent game plan.
Of course you are entitled to your own opinion as that is your right and I applaud you for it because we all have different opinions and perspectives and that fact alone for better or worse is what makes boxing such a unique sport.
Just adding my own two cents for whatever it's worth.
Have a great day all.
I voted no not because of the weight which I think is fine but because I just feel that this is another win for Mayweather at the expense of fans both casual and hardcore alike since we know that neither Mayweather nor Pacquiao will lose until they face each other and quite frankly I am tired of appetizers.
Still I will root for at the very least an entertaining fight and I wish good luck to both Cotto and Mayweather.
Anything can happen in boxing.................
and I will put my faith in that and hopefully a good undercard Mares vs Darchinyan at the top of my head? Maybe Canelo vs Mosley as well? who knows????
This would make a great regular HBO or Showtime card but PPV???
No thanks:lame:
I am not buying this card especially since the opponents against Marquez and Donaire stand little to no chance of winning.
Someone mentioned that this PPV is being done in order to get Marquez a big purse correct? Marquez deserves it and Nonito deserves more exposure but a weak PPV event with weak opponents ain't it.
Hopefully Arum somehow changes his mind and makes it regular HBO.
I think that Molina much like Alexander before him did a smart and yes "boring" but smart strategy to neutralize the "brawlers/all action fighters" and while it may not be ideal we all know that in Boxing you either come to win or lose and both Molina and Alexander came with strategies to win.
For my money I think Molina did more than enough to beat Kirkland who was outclassed and out boxed however I realize that Kirkland was making a comeback in the tenth round so who knows what could have happened.
The ending to this fight was disgraceful! I could only imagine what a competent referee like Tony Weeks or Kenny Bayless would have done with the situation last night but oh well "RULES are RULES" I guess.
I hope there is a rematch if not I hope Kirkland/Molina land a fight with Lara or Williams.
You still got that video? Maybe Elie posted it on facebook or something? Elie and Rios beef is very strange, why would Rios cut ties with Elie but allow other interviewers to interview him in camp? Elie was always giving Rios tons of exposure, only thing I can think of is Elie really betrayed his trust and took advantage and posted something two face that ticked Rios off.
But Elie will never answer why he can't interview Rios anymore also Elie never answered why he can't go to Wild card or Martinez gym, he never answers. Rios gets pissed when anyone brings up Esnews, some Filipino kid was interviewing him and he got mad at the kid for talking about Elie the kid didn't know Rios and elie were no longer cool.
Do you have the link to the vid with the pinoy kid interviewing rios?
I feel sorry for Gamboa but this is an unforgiving sport/buisness
The Snakes always get what they want while the Boxers get screwed
He won't be the first not the last.......
It's time for a Boxing Union dammit!
I am the most objective and fair kind of boxing fan but this was a disgrace tonight.
Marquez was more intellegent and at times made Pacquiao look frustrated and angry and this is coming from someone who thought Pacquiao would KO Marquez in the first "four" rounds but that was not the case, Marquez was plain and simple the better fighter tonight and no I have nothing against pinoys nor Pacquiao I find the culture to be beautiful and Pacquiao to be a p4p great fighter but TONIGHT Marquez won this fight it was close but a clear UD for Marquez.
My opinion of course.
Hell No
What's done is done
no need for a third fight since let's be honest, can Margs eye handle anymore punishment?
If Margarito fights on, all his opponets have to do is target that eye and then that's all she wrote.
But it IS Top Rank............... oh well
Decent fight night
Yeah I knew Arreola was going to win just not in the first round lol but yeah I think he looked sharper and he fought with a little more bravado but Abell wow he had nothing to fight back against Arreolas bombs but I really wish the fight lasted a little longer than it did.
I think the Kiss was a little off because Arreola acted like he won the heavyweight championship but no he did not I enjoy Arreola's enthusiasim and heart but he needs to fight RANKED competition before we see anything definte.
As many have already said:
Samuel Peter would be awesome fight for Arreola maybe even David Tua but he needs to back up that bark we will all see what happens next.
hmmmm David Haye? Stay tuned
Yeah Hopkins did a little of this but Pascal also did a little of that, so it cancels out and I was in Awe of Hopkins tonight he once again shut everyones mouth and proved he is a ATG.
Kudos Hopkins
Hmmmm
If he wins his upcoming match he fights Cotto, its all ready been sign by Cotto and Julio César Chávez Jr. Cotto is just waiting for september to come around skip to 2:45
At 160 Chavez JR may beat Cotto because it is ridiculous to see Cotto fight at 160!
If this fight was at 154 then I would give Cotto a better shot.
Arum is throwing Cotto to the pits.
With that said though Cotto would still present Chavez Jr with his stiffest test beyond Duddy or Zbik. And let's be honest, Cotto always has a punchers chance but in this case you know what Arum has already planned.
Cannot wait for this fight despite the BS
http://www.worldstarhiphop.com/videos/video.php?v=wshhwPj68WV790OV2uc5
Damn for real this is why you should all learn how to box so you don't get split like this.
That is a disgusting vid this and the tranny beatdown vid are clear signs that the world is falling apart! Two guys are getting beat up and everyone there starts hollering and then they take out there phones to be the next youtube/hiphop vid sensation???
genovese syndrome run amock
Ricans or Mex or Blacks it don't matter this is still sick dude.
This is Bad for Ortiz IMO
He has finally regained his confidence and the next logical fight for him would be Maidana to increase his reputation and build him up as a star at welterweight.
I understand that if Ortiz fights Floyd the financial ramifications will be huge and no doubt Ortiz gets his biggest pay day.
BUT let's be honest here
Ortiz stands little to no chance against Mayweather
If Berto was able to stun Ortiz imagine what Mayweather would do?
Then again if 2011 has taught us anything it that UPSETS DO happen and a Ortiz win makes him an elite fighter but does anyone honestly believe he can?
Prove us wrong ortiz
Prove us wrong
but then again the fight might be BS in the first place so maybe none of this matters.
Tinta what does this prove?
Come on man I get that it's harmless fun for some in this thread but we all know that some douchebags will muck it up and make it hateful.
Do what you gotta do but remember the ramifications.
Manny beats all of them imo.
But if I had to pick I would go with and I voted for Marquez just because I feel that it can be somewhat competative for as long as it lasts.
However if they do meet up and it's at 147 the longer it lasts (which might happen) the bigger chance that Manny KO's Marquez.
But the fighter I really want to see Manny face is.........
Sergio Martinez
It won't happen but personaly I think it would be an even better fight than with Mayweather.
