he's still hot right now but wait till he gets beaten by BUMs and upcomers, lots of people would be ****ting on JMM..
though he is up there already with the likes of MAB and EM, i believe history would still favor terrible and MAB ahead of him..
He is one of my favorite boxers and his combinations are insane but he makes some dumb ass decisions. Like taking the john fight instead of pac. And also passing up the morales fight recently. And now this he has a chance to make history in a winnable fight against judah or a third fight with pac where he will get a big paycheck but unfortunally loose.
The decision to fight john was dumb but the rematch still happened, which imo he won. Passing on the Morales fight was the best thing he could do, why fight a past prime shot morales? that fight does nothing for his career. At this point, the fight with pacquiao is not a good look since hes on a whole different level now. That trilogy should have happened in 2008, and imo I think if they would give him the fight at a catch weight it would be more competitive.... but thats not going to happen.
Yea i think he is in the top 20 but people wont consider him better than morales or barrera bc he is lacking that one great win. But his career aint over and he could still make his case by fighting judah and getting that fourth tittle. And if he wins he could unify with the winner of bradley khan and if he would win that would be a hell of a resume especially at his age and to me i would consider him better than the other two but thats just me. But knowing marquez he will take pac
yea I agree, I think he should fight Judah and the winner of Khan vs Bradley.
His age is starting to catch up with him, but still pulls off a great performance everytime. :boxing:
The loss to John is debatable. The sh*t was real close. Hard to call. Also one could argue that he had a split with pac.
When history looks back, JMM's rank among Mexico ATG is gonna go up like Larry Holmes ranking went up in the HW.
thats the only problem with Marquez's career, his losses were real close fights and debatable. Only Real lopsided loss was to Floyd Mayweather, and that fight was a joke to begin with since Marquez wasn't a proven welterweight and the advantage Floyd had with the extra pounds he came in with during the weigh in. Marquez's resume is not that bad but imo he needs atleast one more good career defining win to rank up even more higher. Still, either way he has already established his legacy regardless.
No the dent is not having a career defining win. Like barrera did with hamed and morales. Or morales over pac. Also that loss to john.

:dunce:
oh stfu, I seen your constant hate on Marquez.... but yes your right, his resume lacks compares to morales and barrera but IMO he is/was the most skilled out of the 3 (counter punches, combinations etc.)
Yep I agree. The real dent for Marquez is his loss against Floyd but that was partly due to the weight he had to put on.
Who the fukk cares if he gets knocked down alot, when has he never gotten back up? Huh? 3 times by Pac in 1 round by Pac and still arguably won the fight. How that theory workin' for ya? KNockdowns don't mean shiit.
To completely count out a fighter like Marquez is almost a fukkin crime.
Bro, about your bets: 1. Nice call on Ortiz over Berto; 2. Knicks over Celtics?? I'm a Knicks fan, but...yeesh....; 3. Shane over Manny? Mmmmm...not for me, brotha. But I can see the rationale, with the odds.
wow first of all he's 1-1 with pac with no win just a loss and draw 2nd of all barerra was robbed in that fight and was faded and LMAO @ diaz HAHAHAH he was the fav
Go watch the fights anybody with 2 eyes can see Marquez whooped him in the 1st fight winning 10 of the last 11 rounds. While the 2nd fight was closer Marquez still clearly won 8 rounds
He clearly beat Barrera
And yes Marquez was the underdog against Diaz and knocked him out

Oh by all means it's debatable and I have no quarms with someone saying it's Marquez. I personally think it's Morales.
But these new fans seem to have this idea Morales and Barrera were face first brawlers with no skills. And act like JMM is lightyears more skilled than them.
Which really isn't the case.
Morales generally eats a lot more punches then Marquez and Barrera
I agree and its arguable, but IMO he was more skilled but not by alot.

LOL at Marquez resume lacking??
Beat Pacquiao twice
Beat Barrera
Knocked out Juan Diaz as a big underdog, then destroyed him in the rematch
Knocked out Casamayor
Oh and Barrera is the most skilled Mexican of all time and a top 3 most skilled featherweight/superbantamweight of all time
JMM being so much more skilled than Barrera and Morales is a myth that has been formed over the last few years.
The skill level really isn't that wide between them, at all.
Morales and Barrera are tremendously skilled fighters

Most skilled?
Whoopdee****ing whoo.
With all of his so called great skill,
he sure has tasted the canvas often.
With all of that great skill,
why is his resume lacking?
:dunce:
did I say he was a perfect fighter? look at my previous post idiot. Morales and Barrera rank higher then him but your just a fucken hater if you think the two of them walk right through him or were more skilled.
why is his resume lacking? I don't know, bad career decisions? why are you asking me dumbass.
Mothafukker I didn't say his resume was better. I said head to head in a fight it's not a fact they would beat him because it's not. He's more technical fighter. He's technically better then them IMO.
If you think anybody nevertheless Morales or Barrera would walk all over Marquez then your a fukkin hater obviously. Their's a reason Marquez is Pac's worst nightmare.
Hes technically better?
but gets dropped more often.
Explain to me how that works.
In a head to head fight, based on their histories,
Morales and Barrera beat him, convincingly.
Tactical fighters, don't always come out on top.
Vernon Forrest was a million times the technician Mayorga was,
but guess who won?
