how does Pac vs Floyd play out?
Tough question to answer becuz I honestly dont know. Everything favors Floyd. He is the only fighter I have watched who has never been hit clean. His record explains itself. If I say Pac its only because I'm a big fan of his more than Floyd but I'll answer it being non biased and say I dont know. Floyd never seen anything like Pacman before with the speed, the volume of punches and the extremely hight work rate but at the same time Pac never fought a fighter as crafty as Floyd and when he did against JMM he had a hard time.
I have reviewed Cotto-Clottey fight so many times and go back to review his likes vs Judah, Ricardo Torres and others fights and believe me, he is no longer the same figher he used to be.
Now he looks at times confused, concerned, slower and hittable. In his last fight against tough Clottey it was not just the enormous gash but all this variables. I saw him wining the fight really but the only reason why he won was because Clottey dedicated himself to mimic Margarito and forgot punch... bit time mistake!!! Cotto was there for the taking and Clottey was just chasing and chasing and doing nothing, I think Ivan Carderon or Malignaggi would have finished Cotto at that stage.
Now expect on Nov. 14th Manny Pacquiao to once again show how to finish your man when is there for the taking.
I agree. In the Clottey fight he had visions of Margarito in his head. The ghost of Margarito was haunting Cotto that night just like Teddy Atlas says on a youtube interview I watched. The openings will be there for Manny all night. You will see a cautious start but once Manny realizes he can land pretty much at will then it will be good night Miguel. I like Miguel...he's a class act but this fight will probably send him into retirement or at least drop his stock.
Tszyu wasnt a super fast type fighter but he probably had the quickest punch in boxing. No one threw faster from point A to point B. His timing was exceptional and he was strong like an ox. He's a bad style for Pac and he's one of the few guys who always looks good against Southpaws because of that quick straight right. I think he catches Pac one time and that could end it. He hit like a sledge hammer and he's a much better overall boxer than Pac. Much more techniqal and fundementaly sound. Dont get me wrong, Pac is a beast and because of that I still give him a shot but Tszyu was a bad boy. Dont forget that
I agree yes and the power Kostya had in that right hand could end fights I'm just saying the speed...the volume of punches and the tempo of the fight all favor Pac. Hey I like Tszyu...he was one of my favorite fighters. I give him the best chance out of everyone except for Shane Mosley who beats Pac everytime I just think he comes up short due to the amount of left hands eat will eat.
Absolutely. Actually think it's a bad style matchup for Manny. Tszyu could take a shot and he could dish one out. Plus, he worked extremely well from the outside. Miss that guy..
Ya me too. He was a great champion and a respectable person outside the ring. He could have beat Hatton but IMO Hatton fought dirty and just outwrestled him. Nonetheless...a Tszyu/Pac fight would have been intresting.
Youre certain that Pac wouldve won against Tszyu? You also have the nerve to ask if Tszyu couldve went more than 2 rounds against Pac? I think Tszyu wouldve knocked Pac the **** out
Can you explain this theory seeing as Pac's speed would be the defining difference in the fight. Of course he could go more than 2 rounds...I'm saying he could have gone the distance and perhaps even stunned him a few times but the end result is Kostya gets knocked out. I like him to I'm just keeping it real.
Sure Oscar was weight drained but Manny still beat the bigger man. Oscar for the first time in his career was thoroughly beaten up. Not decisioned...but beaten up for 8 straight rounds. This was Manny's eaisest fight. Juan Manuel Marquez gave Manny fits...Oscar was basically a mobile punchbag.
Two questions here, and the answers shouldn't be simple as "Clottey is better, and he'd beat Cintron" or vice versa.
I think it could be that one is the better of the two, but styles wise a fight between the two could produce a different winner.
IMO Clottey is the better of the two overall with his defense, chin, and strength. But I think I would favor Cintron in a fight. Kermit has the power to back him off and better boxing skills that could win him a decision.
What do you say?
I honestly think your wrong. I think Clottey is the better technical fighter with the better boxing skills and defence. IMO he is also the stronger of the 2. I think Kermit is a great fighter with heavy hands but I'd pick Clottey in a victory should they ever fight.
What a sham Arum has put on with Cotto. Cotto owns Arum his kids! It amazes me that cotto still is YET TO BEAT A CHAMPION!! The only time he's EVER won a championship is when it was vacant and against some nobody. He got ko'd and showed no heart against margarito and he got ko'd and showed no heart against pacman. He wanted out of the ring against margarito and even more against pacman. Now he's going to fight yuri foreman at 154!! what a joke. This guy is the most protected fighter in the sport. If Cotto wasnt with Arum who is as good as it gets making fighters cotto would be just another fighter.
Your a fool.
Miguel Cotto for sure. Hatton is overrated and always was. He's tough and can bang but he's too one dimensional. Cotto showed me in the Pacquaoi fight that he still has the ability to fight a few more recognizable names.
This is a serious thread so dont troll it or think Im joking. Im also not asking what Cintron "will" do but what "can" he do.
Like, do you think he can hurt Floyd. Do you think he can make Floyd work or force Floyd to be more active. Do you think he can land clean shots on Floyd. Do you think he can bully Floyd around the ring. Do you think he can keep Floyd from landing by using his own jab constantly. Do you think he can land on the inside if Floyd went into the pocket? One good thing about Kermit is he's one of the few big guys who dont need alot of room to punch. He's very good with short inside punches and can get alot of leverage on them unlike some other long guys who need to hit you at the end of there punch to get power
I'm a Cintron fan but I honestly dont think he has the tools to do anything to Floyd and I cant stand Mayweather Jr. I'm just keeping it real. He's too tall and awkard and his mobility isnt really that great. Floyd will also never stand in the pocket with this guy. He'll fight him the way he fought the tall Corrales and potshot from the outside. I dont think he'll knock Cintron out. He will win a rather close decision.
I cant see Clottey pulling upset but alot of people who dont know boxing are underestimating him. Clottey is no joke. He's as strong as an ox and doesnt leave any openings. I dont see him winning but I dont see him getting blown out or KO'd.
Doesnt matter, style and size makes fights.
After 3 rounds Floyd will put the hurt on him!!!!
lol
How can Floyd hurt JMM he runs from his opponents.
These are both technical counter punching crafty boxers.
I cant see either guy hurting the other.
Should go the distance with Floyd probably getting a decision in a fight that is going to be controversial.
This board can be disappointing on several levels. Here's a guy coming up on 3,000 posts. So, presumably, he's a dedicated boxing fan. And that is what he posts.
???
Whats wrong with my post ??
Floyd does back up and fight backwards. He is almost always on his bike...
He usually wins close and controversial decisions against elite opposition.
Do you really think he is going to hurt a fighter like JMM ??
Bro thats the great Fernando Vargas. I was a regular in these forums years ago but havent been around since. I dont care what anyone says about Fernando...he was was a warrior.
Oh yeah that safety back up quote that people put in every post to cover their asses. It doesnt help your argument if you dont explain why one style works better then the other, especially when cotto beat both mosley's speed and power.
In my opinion the Cotto/Mosley fight was a draw. I would love to try and explain it but Im having a hard time finding the right wording. I just think Cotto barely made it past Shane but wont have the chin to hold up against Manny.
I also think Shanes speed and powerboxing ability inside will have what it takes to beat Manny. I also think Shanes chin can absorb Manny's power.
I cant believe people actually believe pac will beat cotto.
cotto is an intelligent pressure fighter. pac does not have the style, strength, to set a pace that would tire him like margarito and clottey did.
pac is an in and out fighter. he dashes in with his speed and gets out. the only fighters that were able to set a pace that cotto could not keep up with is margarito and clottey. mosely could have had more success if he would have realized sooner that cotto was the better boxer between the two.
pac speed and power has been his saving grace against his fights with Marquez, not his technique
Against cotto, pac will not have the overwhelming advantage in power that he is used to when fighting fighters his own size.
simply put physical tools will not be enough to carry him through his match against cotto.
cotto will pick him apart and break him down.
I dont know how you could question cotto chin. He took shots from 160lb margarito and 170 clottey. There punches might not travel with the same velocity as pac but they get there with plenty of force.
You have good valid points and I dont mean to sound like I'm being biased but Cotto is just not going to be able to handle the speed. I think part of Pacs power is the fact that his opponents do not see his punch coming and what hurts you most are the punches you cannot see.
Pacmans in and out pressure will make it difficult for Cotto to connect to the body. I the drop to 145 will make a bit of a difference too. I really think Cottos confidence has been affected thanks to Margarito. This will also be a factor. I just dont see him taking alot of left hands and still standing.
i dunno if pac gets past cotto. cotto is too big.
I think he can. Cotto is big but hes a bit damaged mentally from the Margarito fight. He didnt look good against Clottey. Pac is just way too fast...maybe not as big but he gona land those manila bombs on Miguels face often and Miguel gets busted up early. Cotto likes a slow lethargic controlled fight...Pac is a machine. I dont think it wil go past 8.
So what ur saying is that mosley is as fast as pac, except stronger and cotto beat mosley, but he cant beat pac?
I guess you didnt read the "STYLES MAKES FIGHTS" quote.
Shane Mosley and Miguel Cotto are fighters, they are very good fighters. Manny Pacquiao loves to fight, he fights better when he is put up against another fighter, Therefore, both fights won't be as tough as people think.
Mayweather is a boxer, Team Pacquiao/Freddie Roach don't like to put Manny against boxers-types. Floyd Mayweather would be Manny Pacquiao toughest fight because he will box Manny Pacquiao, not fight him.
Not saying Pacman would have a easy time with Mosley, just that Mosley is a fighter and he will come to fight Manny which Manny would love for him to do.
I actually think Manny will get to Mayweather should they fight. He will make Floyd fight becuz Floyd will eat so many left hands and want to trade with the smaller guy.
Your right...Mosley will want to brawl.
Easier said than done.
I think if your a Cotto fan you have reason to worry.
I cant see Cotto lasting to long after eating those lefts especially at 145.
This is an easier fight than most people think.
I never like Floyd. Hes a fraud. He's not a boxing draw. People come to watch his opponent in hopes they knock him out. If he fights Manny he will be put to sleep and he knows it thats why this fight will never happen .
And you're just as dumb as him. Paq doesn't have Clottey, Mosley or Margarito power man, lets be real. As for the TS... have you ever watched Manny fight? Please, tell me when ONCE in his career has he ever boxed? Against DLH? That wasn't boxing that was very well executed controlled aggression. When does Manny ever fight backpedaling, counter punching or show good defense? No, this IS going to be a back and forth fight, I'll be surprised if either man actually "boxes" but I'd expect it from Cotto over Manny.
I've seen all his fights you moron. When did he box ??? How about Barrera 2 ? You dont think the fight against DLH was boxing ? Did you see how many times he made Oscar miss ? Your a moron.
just because pac went to war with smaller fighters like morales and jmm, does not mean he is going to go to war with cotto. do you guys really think he is going to fight a bigger fighter that poses harm and is going to out weigh him by more than 10 pounds? hes going to box, the whole fight. pac wants to jump into politics after 3 or 4 more fights. pac is not going to stand there and trade with a guy he cant hurt. and im sure freddy roach would make a plan for pac that says "go out there and get into a war", the trainer that finds catch weights for his fighter(safety purposes).
pac by decision in a dull affair.
book mark this thread and stone me if im wrong.
That by far is the dumbest quote I have read tonite. Pac has the serious power to put Cotto in a coma that night. You clearly are being biased.
The more I watch, the more I feel that Cotto will beat Pacman. Cotto will hit you, even the most elusive fighters have been hit (and often) by Cotto and Pacman has never EVER been hit by a fighter as strong and precise as Cotto. This alone is one aspect of the adversity that Pacman hasnt dealt with, and we won't know how he will deal with it until he gets in there with Cotto.
Of course your gonna root for your Puerto Rican brotha...your name is Macho Time...lol
Having said that Cotto is too slow and lethargic for the Power Punching Pacquaoi. Cotto fights backwards at a slow controlled pace...he wont be able to do that against Manny.
