Some of you people on here are such noobs to boxing. That's the only way to explain this phenomenon.
Howard Davis Jr., Muhammad Ali, SRR to an extent, Pernell Whitaker, SRL sometimes, and Willie Pep are PURE boxers. Which means they'll dance around their opponent, with the jab popping all night. These fighters are not really reflexive fighters, although sometimes they are off the jab.
Mayweather is more of a counterpuncher, he's very unorthodox in that he leads with his right hand a lot, leaps in with the left hook, but sometimes he switches his style completely.
Even Max Kellerman partakes in this stupid phenomenon, grab a boxing book and watch some boxing. Kellerman doesn't know anything about boixng.
If being unorthodox means you can't be a pureboxer you should'nt name Pep..
I don't buy the dehydrated excuse. There's a few factors in this fight that made it this loop sides. on is Floyd is really that good. 2nd Mosley hadn't been fighting for over a year.
He had the same curse as DLH really. He's a strong fighter who lost most of his major fights. The fact that he got 2 wins over DLH and a good win against Margarito put him side by side with DLH IMO.
So much talk about Shane's energy and speed was better years ago, but so was Floyd. I watched the Shane vs Oscar fight 5 times today and i see Shane much quicker, but i also see a lot of load up right hands over and over and over. He"s not gonna beat 2000, 2001, 2002 Floyd off the same right hand over and over. He might land it early and stun Floyd and Floyd will be like damn good shot, now its time for 12 rounds of kickin yo ass.
2000 Floyd had more combinations and took more chances. Had he had Shane in the same type of trouble it would be OVER.
You watched the same 12 round fight 5 times in a row? You should learn how to be more observant..
Also I disagree, Mosley back then would've given Floyd much more trouble. He would've kept the pace he showed in the first couple of rounds going for 12 rounds.
I dont agree. Gatti-Ward 1 was the best fight ive ever seen. watch this,
The fight was great but the ref... What a jackass. Thought the whole fight centered around him and wouldn't let'em fight inside.
Of course he's a dirty fighter. Everyone saying otherwise haven't seen his last two fights with open eyes. Some like that style, I think he only gets away with that BS due to hometown cooking
I'm surprised that a trade writer, who is supposed to rise above the average NSB'ers knowledge basically says that lowblows is dirty while headbutts is just a little roughing.
I totally disagree.
Forget it Bat. These americans are so in love with their dirty fighters but cries like little babies when it's one of their fighters who gets roughed up like the Cobra did with Dirrell. Bunch of hypocrites.
Not dirty, he's just capable of fighting rough. When you are good at inside fighting, crap happens.
THat statement is flawed. When you're good at infighting that means such things does NOT happen. Check out Castillo for great fighting on the inside like in his fights with Corrales.
Ward is the new B-hop except Bhop started that shit late in his career to compensate for old age. I'm not gonna follow his career after the super six if he keeps delivering such dirty snoozers of a fight.
Ruslan Chagaev. Best resume of those fighters save for Brewster and Byrd, never been stopped, and the most impressive performance from Wlad imo. I think Byrd the first time was his best win though
Chagaev, Co sign.
That's a very good point you're making TS. But that's the double standard you see on these boards. There's one set of rules for american fighters and a very strict set of rules for none american fighters. The double standard around these parts are ludacris at times, but good observation.
