The Gatti-Ward series got more attention, but I prefer the Gatti-Robinson series. More consistent action throughout (although no rounds quite as great as Gatti-Ward 1 round 9) and closer competition.
Robinson-Gatti 1 = Gatti-Ward 1 > Robinson-Gatti 2 > Gatti-Ward 3 > Gatti-Ward 2
I also like those fights more than the Ward fights. But Robinson just raped him, only the kds made the first fight competetive.
Do you guys think those fights took something out of Robinson?
Or was he just a tough guy with much better skills than Gatti, but not good enough for the world szene?
Gatti was threwing like 60 punches on the belt line and below.
Watching those highlights reminds me why I'm not suprised Gatti had problems outside of the ring. Just that 1 fight on it's own (Gatti-Ronbinson 1) would be enough to render a fighter shot.
I dont agree. Gatti-Ward 1 was the best fight ive ever seen. watch this,
The fight was great but the ref... What a jackass. Thought the whole fight centered around him and wouldn't let'em fight inside.
I was actually comparing more as a whole. I guess it's not the fairest comparison since there's 3 Gatti-Ward fights and just 2 Gatti-Robinson fights.
Again, the first fight of each series are about equal to me, with Gatti-Ward having that epic 9th round, and Gatti-Robinson having more consistent, sustained action throughout the ten rounds.
I'd probably rate the Gatti fights like this:
1) (tie) Robinson 1 and Ward 1
3) Rodriguez
4) Ruelas
5) Manfredy or Robinson 2
And Ward fights like this:
1) Gatti 1
2) Burton/Augustus
3) Neary
4) Diaz
5) Green
Those other Ward fights besides Gatti & Burton don't get mentioned much. They were really good fights.
