This is the correct list:
1. Gene Tunney
2. Rocky Marciano
3. Jack Dempsey
4. Jim Jeffries
5. Max Baer
6. Ingemar Johannson
7. Jim Corbett
8. John L. Sullivan
9. Vitali Klischko
10. Jim Braddock
Well, Pac already beat Rios. Then he dominated Bradley after Bradley won the title by beating Marquez. If Algieri goes on to do well against future competition, any win of his would add to Pac's legacy due to how easy it was for Pac to beat him. Algieri's win over Rusyan was Ring Mag "Upset of the Year."
For having done this, Pac moves up to top 15 pound for pound all-time. If Mayweather ducks him again, that could be counted as a win for Pac - hence putting him in the bottom half of the top ten greatest pound for pound ever.
he beats Rios
rematches and beats Bradley or Marquez convincingly
then fights Mayweather as his final fight and beats him before hanging up the gloves
Let me see your top 20 list
Robinson
Ali
Pep
Armstrong
Greb
Louis
Moore
Ray Leonard
Duran
Roy Jones
Langford
Wilde
Gans
Pacquiao
Benny Leonard
Chavez
Monzon
Gavilan
Ezzard Charles
Canzoneri
Roy Jones?
Can Rocky Marciano beat Roy Jones at 185 lbs.? No way.
Can Hagler beat Roy Jones at meet in the middle catchweight? No way.
Can Tommy Hearns and Sugar Ray Leonard beat Roy Jones at Super Middleweight? No way.
Can Michael Spinks beat Roy Jones at 175 lbs.? No way.
Remember, prime Roy Jones beat both James Toney and Bernard Hopkins and won a minor heavyweight title.
You idiots must not have seen the video. Floyd was choosing from a board of 10 specific fighters and out of the 10 available that's how he chose to put them in order.
IDIOTS!!!!
Here is the video of Floyd picking his Top 5.
https://youtu.be/RdVWu00UsSY
Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard, Joe Louis and Henry Armstrong were in the 10 available list that Mayweather had to choose from.
:lol1::lol1:
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooppppppppppppppsssssssssssss!!!!! LOL

Anyway, here's how the All-time P4P list should look like if made intelligently.
Robinson
Ali
Pep
Louis
Duran
Armstrong
Greb
Sugar Ray and Benny (tied)
Moore and Langford (tied)
you just made this thread to diss!!!!!!
ain't nobody getting free tickets for TBEs last fight!!!!!!
no matter who he facing, this fight is LEGENDARY!!!!!!!!!
stop acting like it aint a big deal!!!!!!!!!
It may not be a big deal for you but watching this fight live is a big deal to me. I'm not that big of a Mayweather fan but I've never really had the experience of being in a live major fight. Any fight would do. And I think that this is really a big event. Posters are everywhere in town. And in many billboards, especially the big one near UNLV near the airport on Tropicana.
The Four Kings refers to Duran, Leonard, Hagler and Hearns. They have been collectively given this title because each one fought the other 3. Specifically...
Hagler fought Leonard, Hearns, and Duran
Duran fought Leonard, Hearns, and Hagler
Hearns fought leonard, Duran, and Hagler
Leonard fought Duran, Hearns, and Hagler
Benitez only fought Duran, Hearns, and Leonard. He never moved up to middleweight to fight Hagler. Had he done so it would have been the Five Kings.
Unfortunate, really. And the primary reason he is not mentioned with the above fighters despite soundly beating one, barely losing to the other one, and fighting a technical classic chess match with the third one.
Update...sad for Floyd...Pacquiao was the draw...in the absence of Pacquiao, it was the Mexican undercard/holiday (along with the false promise of action) that was the real draw...

Well, I guess I was wrong about it being Roger.
But at least we now know who should be playing Roger Mayweather in a movie that would have Roger in it....like a Floyd movie, for instance.
Very good left hook.
It's good that he is trying to use his left jab. This shows that he may be training with people that teach good fundamentals.
He has a nice long range right lead.
His weakness is in the short rights (both the straight and the uppercut).
He needs to move his head more. Makes him look like an MMA boxer that he doesn't.
He should move up to a world class gym once he gets past his 10th pro fight -- perhaps at Wild Card or at Mayweather's. Avoid Algieri's trainers at all cost.
Came up with this order off the top of my head, really hard to call it between em.
This is why I started this thread. These 6 fighters are really really close.
Plus which criteria to use is very difficult to determine.
Pac was at peak moving up the lower weights yet he lost to Floyd at a relatively high weight 5 years after they should have fought.
Floyd retired undefeated and you can't take that away from him.
Roy beat B-Hop when they were at their physical peaks and subjectively, he was one of the greatest athletes (with god-like) reflexes of all time.
B-Hop beat George Foreman and Archie Moore in terms of longevity, two fighters that are easily somewhere in the top 20.
Whitaker constantly gets ranked with Benitez, Floyd, and Pep as one of the greatest counterpunchers ever.
Chavez could arguably KO anyone his size in boxing history including Pac, Floyd, Duran, Armstrong, etc. Plus, he had that long winning streak. He may be have the weakest claim, though, among these 6 fighters.
Just a tough call among these six.
My opinion is this.
He's wrong about Rocky compared to him. Period.
But something else he was saying resonated. He made it seem like he was just talking in order to keep the name of Rocky Marciano alive? Why? It didn't make any sense.
What I see happening during the speech is that Holmes was DEEPLY disappointed and shocked at his loss to Spinks on fight # 50 which would have put him over the top of Marciano.
He gave a very emotional speech which started in anger and disappointment. But if you notice, towards the second half of the speech, he was already trying to backtrack in his insults of Marciano, possibly regretting having insulted his memory as well as the presence of his surviving brothers in the audience.
As to Holmes vs Marciano prime for prime, my pick is Holmes...
...but Marciano was no doubt the greatest Cruiserweight in history.
Now threadstarter I am calling your bluff. If you really have a list of the top 25 pound for pound best boxers of all time in order from best to worst then let's see it. I'll be surprised if you put up such a list.I really doubt you have one. If you do it shouldn't long at all to post it.
1. Sugar Ray Robinson
2. Muhammad Ali
3 to 10 are equal: Roberto Duran, Sugar Ray Leonard, Willie Pep, Henry Armstrong, Harry Greb, Sam Langford, Archie Moore, Joe Louis
11 to 15 are equal: Tony Canzoneri, Benny Leonard, Mickey Walker, Jimmy Wilde, Gene Tunney
16 to 25 along with Pac, Floyd, JCC, Sweet Pea, B-Hope, R. Jones: Ezzard Charles, Rocky Marciano (greatest cruiserweight ever), George Foreman, Kid Gavilan
Salvador Sanchez was beautiful. He was a sight to behold. Artistry, speed, power and intelligence in one package. Every second of his every fight was a masterpiece.
Start with his fight against Wilfredo Gomez. Its on Youtube.
I really was so happy when I heard the news about Floyd coming back to box.
He really saves me money on sleeping pills!
WELCOME BACK FLOYD!!!

Floyd is a cute puppy!
So when he said TBE he wasnt even close to the top 10.
what a sham, I hope all his fans who fell in love with his persona ask for their money back, false advertisement. They bought his product beliving the sales pitch "TBE" smh this is actually illegal.
I think Floyd can actually hold his own but there all time great fighters that would have him totally outclassed.
Time to rank Mayweather. He has had a great career, often rated among the best defensive boxers ever. He does not hold any records (Pac has 8 titles in 8 weight divisions; Ricardo Lopez retired 54-0 (1 draw); Armstrong held 3 titles in 3 weight divisions simultaneously; Robinson won and recaptured middleweight title 5 times; Joe Louis had 26 title defenses over almost twelve years).
But Mayweather, when it comes to fighter vs fighter skills comparison, was near flawless. It is for this reason that I rank him this way in my all time great pound for pound rankings.
1. Sugar Ray Robinson
2. Muhammad Ali
3. Willie Pep
4. Henry Armstrong
5. Joe Louis
6. Sugar Ray Leonard
7. Archie Moore
8. Roberto Duran
9. Harry Greb
10. Sam Lanford
11. Benny Leonard
12. Jimmy Wilde
13. Joe Gans
14. Carlos Monzon
15. Ezzard Charles
16. Manny Pacquiao
17. Roy Jones
18. Julio Ceasar Chavez SENIOR
19. Floyd Mayweather JUNIOR
20. Pernell Whitaker
21. Bernard Hopkins
22. Gene Tunney
23. Tommy Loughran
24. Carmen Basilio
25. Tony Canzoneri
26. George Foreman
27. Marvelous Marvin Hagler
28. Jack Dempsey
29. Salvador Sanchez
30. Kid Gavilan
That is a very solid 1-30 ranking and I agree with most of it actually. Few points I dont:
- I find it interesting Marciano retired undefeated at 49-0 and beat #s 5, 7 and 19 yet he is not even ranked in the top 30. I just find that very odd?
- Muhammad Ali is ranked too high. I know this is not a popular stance but I feel he is overrated and always has been. His famous name is what gets him ranked so high all the time I feel. I'd put him probably between 12-18.
- I think Pac should be at least in the high teens or twenties. That "8 division title" run is bs we all know that and I find it hard to rank someone as high as he is who has been stopped as many times as he has (3) and outboxed by people who are either below him or not on this list (Morales, JMM and Floyd).
- I would maybe consider LaMotta somewhere in the top 30?
I think over time modern fighters will be appreciated more to be honest. I think in addition to Floyd and Pac, JMM or even Wlad K. may break into the top 30 of all time possibly.
Rocky Marciano is ranked top 40. He beat 35 year olds. Joe Louis was old. Ezzard Charles was a light heavy. Lucky punch against Walcott.
Watch videos of Willie Pep, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Floyd Mayweather. Heavyweight Ali still looked faster than these three guys despite being 215 lbs. pre-Vietnam.
During boxing events Sugar Ray Leonard is always introduced as a "5 weight division world champion". This even though when he beat Donny LeLonde, he was fighting the number 4 ranked light heavyweight in the world at a catchweight of 168 lbs. He won two of his 5 titles in this one fight, namely, LeLonde's light heavy title and the brand new Super Middleweight title which was created especially for Leonard. Despite this, Leonard is and will always be a "5 weight division" champion. Pacquiao's 8 titles is even more sticky. It will be his calling card for eternity. Plus, he was Fighter of the Decade. This fact can never be changed short of having a time machine.
As for Jake LaMotta, I think he may be top 30. But who in my top 30 list would you fire in order to make room for LaMotta?
Marquez is top 40. Wlad would have a hard time breaking the top 100. Remember, he is winning because of size advantage. He is a super heavyweight fighting heavyweights. If he were the same size (weight and dimensions) as Haye, he probably would have lost.
1. Sugar Ray Robinson
2. Muhammad Ali
3. Willie Pep
4. Henry Armstrong
5. Joe Louis

25. Tony Canzoneri
26. George Foreman
27. Marvelous Marvin Hagler
28. Jack Dempsey
29. Salvador Sanchez
30. Kid Gavilan
This is the right list (from 1 to 10):
Leonard - best among the 4 plus Benitez
Duran - greatest lightweight ever
Pacquiao - 8 titles (4 lineals)
Jones - beat prime Hopkins and Toney and broke Archie Moore's age record
Holmes - second only to Ali at all-time heavyweight
Hagler - beat Hearns who was one of the GOATS
Mayweather - undefeated but played too much defense outside the ring in later years
Hearns - arguably beat Leonard in rematch, destroyed fat Duran, a better chin woulda made him one of the all time best p4p
Whitaker - no way he's better than Floyd at counter punching and defense
Chavez SENIOR - great record
If LeBron had been a boxer no one would have ever heard of the Klitschko's and the doping Russians.
200 plus pound High school and early college level Americans are going into football and basketball where the sure money is.
Had they gone into boxing, only Americans would hold the world heavyweight championship.
