I've been a fan of the sport since December of 2012, so to say I've missed a lot of great fights.
I'm 22 and I want to enjoy the careers (the best fights) of the great boxers I've missed chronologically.
I've thought to start with these:
-Óscar de la Hoya
-Julio César Chávez
-Mike Tyson
Please I need advice of the fighters that I should watch. Which ones do you recommend me?
Thanks in advance.
All good choices. But why only legends?
Watch the fights of their opponents too. That's how you really learn about the sport and get a better perspective on why those fights were so highly anticipated at the time.
casius clay/muhammad ali.....
one and the same boxing greatest of all time....
the young casius/ali have predicted with uncanny accuracy the rounds he will take out his opponents...
he is still the most revered and well known boxing figure...
Bolivia, Remember this: HVY.-wt. div. is the Crown Jewels of all Boxing. So, dig into that history, and you will be fascinated. Other than that you should aa) follow the current scene. And (bb) try and get back issues of Ring magazine/ Any Boxing magazines. Read one magazine. Find your story! Boxing IS a "Name game" so........
I'm -LUCKY- I have my "personal interactive" history! That's unique/ personal.
Back to HVY.-wt. champs.....AFTER MICHAEL DOKES-MIKE WEAVER TITLE GETS HARDER TO FOLLOW . HVY.-wt. history you have J.L.SULLIVAN -thru- TOMMY BURNS & THEN, JACK JOHNSON THRU MUHAMMAD ALI. Believe me I have that history memorized!
Text me at times I'll reply during the day when I have the time and switch you up or off on FIGHTER NAMES IF YOU LIKE! Mention us to start here at BoxingScene 860-515-7680 John Wilkinson name04@iCloud.com.
Last: my top-5 mega stars on now: (No order) Andre Ward 175lbs., Sergy Kovelev 175lbs., Saul Alvarez 160lb., Gennady Golovkin 160lb.*//
Manny Pacquiao 147lb. ("Retired")
*this boxer "slight problem" Admin wise the guy isn't "advised well" & is holder of =illegal= ("fake") Ibo bauble
Roy Jones Jr. was as close to untouchable as you can get, in his prime. Barrera, Morales and Pacquiao deserve an entire section of their own (obviously Morales was the best idc idc)... I always like Terry Norris despite his chinny chin chin
I recommend Sugar Ray Leonard, ATG, involved in multiple FOTY contenders, and in my opinion the best fighter of the modern era.
The greatest fighter I have ever seen also
I've watched the trilogy against Pacquiao, the trilogy against Barrera, the fight against Maidana and the 2 fights against Danny García.
Any more fight worth watching of him? Thanks.
Both fights with Guty Espadas.
As good as Toney is. People forget that Nunn was ****ing him up in that fight. Was making easy work of him and....... bam Lights Out lol. He was a great fighter and imo one of the better ones I've seen in the ring. Sad to see what happened with him.
most definitely....damned drugs!!!!!
Looking back, he was playing with Toney and that was his downfall. He languished in front and was punching with him instead of using his legs, angles and jabs like the begining.
even then toney had a great defense. I watched it recently and a lot of shots were hitting shoulders, gloves and elbows.
highly underrated and forgotten. Growing up he was the middleweight champ and that toney ko was a shocker. Thought he'd be one of the greatest ever. He was like a southpaw, middleweight Ali.

lol, Tapia is one of my favorites & Toney is a good pick, loved the way he clowned people in the ring (tongue out), heard his gym wars were better than some of his actual fights.
I wounldnt say Johnny Tapias a legend but I wouldnt say he isnt either but HBO did a cool lil docu/movie on him, check it out than watch a few of his fights, they were fun to watch and after watching the documentary youll appreciate them more.

watch Roy Jones in his prime. Innovative style, had the basics down, and one of the rare fighters with speed and legit one punch power. Only fighter to not get hit in a full round. KO's behind his back, etc.
Also.....hector camacho, meldrick taylor, Terry norris if youre into aggressive speedsters
hilario zapata, willie, pep, niccolino locche if you into defense specialist
punchers check out earner shavers, joe louis, bob foster, julain jackson
for the other styles ricardo lopez, henry armstrong, tony canzoneri.
If you need more let me know
Tito Trinidad, a skinny dude with no muscles knocking guys out. Will make u wonder where the hell does fighters power come from. Watch his career in this order, vs Blocker then campas then vs dlh and every fight after that one.
