Rocky couldn't carry my jockstrap, funny but far from the truth. Larry was jealous that Rocky was getting more attention than him. He knows that Rocky was legit, he beat everyone they put in front of him over 7 years. Anyone that thinks Rocky is a bum, is either a ret@rd or has never watched his fights. Floyd runs for 12 rounds, Rocky beat you down for 15 rounds. Rocky almost killed a man, he was one of the strongest punchers ever, but some think he was a bum. What I see happening during the speech is that Holmes was DEEPLY disappointed and shocked at his loss to Spinks on fight # 50 which would have put him over the top of Marciano. He gave a very emotional speech which started in anger and disappointment. But if you notice, towards the second half of the speech, he was already trying to backtrack in his insults of Marciano, possibly regretting having insulted his memory as well as the presence of his surviving brothers in the audience. As to Holmes vs Marciano prime for prime, my pick is Holmes... ...but Marciano was no doubt the greatest Cruiserweight in history. Rocky would have been tiny in today's division. Most of those fcukers are 210 on fight night and juiced to the gills.

Larry Holmes was a great heavyweight hes actually underrated. He's one of the most overrated underrated heavyweights in history. Everyone and his mother claims he's underrated.

Larry Holmes may have the right to say that. And it is true that Marciano's signature wins came against less than prime opponents. Personally, I do not see Rocky as a top 10 heavy, iconic mark or not. Yes, Larry has the right to call Rocky that. But, I don't. And I wont.

I'm not so sure Holmes is underrated. I kind of thought every one rated him..as he was a top quality fighter. He's wrong about Marciano though. Marcinao wasn't a bum in the slightest.

Holmes was like 16 yrs older than Tyson when they fought as well. He beat a young Ray Mercer too....trolled him and taunted. He was in his 40s. Even that Mercer would beat little ass Marciano Marciano was great for his era and time but he is not a top ten ATG heavyweight in my book. He didnt beat good enough competition and his skills dont compare to the likes of Jack Johnson or even Joe Frazier who was aggressive but had a very good defense and showed he could hand with guys well into the 200s. Marciano would get blitzed by beltholders and contenders of the past.

Larry Holmes hates white people, nothing new here. kinda hard not to in america when you grew up during segregation and during the civil rights movement. All the work he put in and fighters he beat is waaaaaaaay better than Marciano. Marciano would have took an L having to face Ray Mercer, Norton, Shavers, Witherspoon, ETC. When he was champ he didnt get much love because he followed Ali. I can understand why he'd be a little irritated because in his time he was underappreciated and Marciano was highly overrated and beloved Lets be real....Marciano at 185 and 5'10" with a less than 70' reach wouldnt be able to compete with the greatest heavies era. He fought in a thin era dominated by former light heavyweights. Ali, Holmes, Liston, Foreman, both Klitschko's, Frazier, etc slaughter the Rock.

This guy always thought he was much better than he was just because he beat an old, broken-down Muhammad Ali. He has **** to say about almost everyone. in Larry's defense, he was one of the most dominant heavyweight champions of all time. Larry was a much better fighter overall than Marciano and if you look at who both of them fought its obvious who fought better competition. Larry If you want to bring in a broken down ali, you cant forget Marciano's best wins are over past prime fighters. Moore and Walcott were closer to 40 than 35 and Charles was an ATG but his best weight was 175 and he started at 160. Louis was washed up and a shell of his former self.

Marciano was a great heavyweight. It seems if you aren't a jab, jab type fighter you r a bum? God built us differently, so we fight different . Larry would beat marcviuasno but rocky would have his moments.

.......... I just ran into him last week at Burger King 25th st. Easton, Pa. He could not be any more of a nice guy with everyone. There was a mixed race of people waiting in line and he shook hands and said hi to everyone. Ordered some nuggets and walked out again saying good afternoon to everyone. Racist? I say no way! Tuff MF yes. I say he is very under rated with 20 successful title defenses, victories over Earnie Shavers, Ken Norton, Muhammad Ali, Mike Weaver, Gerry Cooney, Tim Witherspoon, Carl Williams and Marvis Frazier thats a great resume. 48-0 just short of Marciano's record by one fight.
