In the 70's, it's called the GREAT WHITE HOPE. I think so far Vitaly Klitschko has got what it takes to be the greatest white heavyweight boxer of all time. (Do we consider John Ruiz, who has been a title-holder for sometime now, a "white"?)
A number of white sluggers in the past also comes to mind. They provided life, excitement and top-caliber challenges in the black-dominated heavyweight division.
Rocky Marciano
Joe Bugner
Tommy Morrison
Gerry Cooney
Duane Bobick
Henry Cooper
Jerry Quarry
George Chuvalo
Gerrie Coetzee
Chuck Wepner (who inspired the first Rocky movie)
Randy "Tex" Cobb
James "Bonecrusher" Smith
to name a few.
Who's the greatest white HW boxer of all time for you?
Harry Greb, Bob Fitzsimmons, Willie Pep, Mickey Walker, Jimmy McLarnin, Tony Canzoneri, Jimmy Wilde, Gene Tunney, Stanley Ketchel, Carmen Basilio, Rocky Marciano, Benny Lynch, Jack Dempsey, Marcel Cerdan, Freddie Steele, Ted "Kid" Lewis, Terry McGovern... and the dozens more that escape me right now.
Wladimir Klitschko
Vitali Klitschko
Alexander Povetkin
Lucas Browne
Tyson Fury
Glazkhov
Andy Ruiz
Artur Spzilka
Joseph Parker
David Price
Sultan Ibragimov
Tommy Morrison
Andrew Golota
Francois Botha
Chris Arreola
Ruslan Chagaev
Kubrat Pulev
Francesco Pianeta
Marius Wach
Corrie Sanders
Axel Scultz
Tomasz Adamek
Manuel Charr
Juan Carlos Gomez
Albert Sosnowski
Timo Hoffman
This is the most exhaustive list of names ever produced of white boxers of any relevance to what we would TODAY consider the most formidable boxers in any championship, in no particular order from great to decent.
The most obvious standouts are that the Klitschko brothers, are far and beyond the most dominant white boxers and probably the best overall boxers of any race of all time.
Runner ups would be something like Tommy Morrison and Alexander Povetkin for example.
Thread reported for racism.
not really racist though is it, if anything it portrays white fighters in a poor light, and only because they were poorer on the whole.
Marciano, then Dempsey, then perhaps Sullivan (but he wasn't really "undisputed", deliberately avoiding a substantial part of the population's best boxers) but more likely Baer.

Ali's great grandfather was also Irish. There's a video of him discussing that on a show.
That is absolutely correct.
