Didn't Floyd get ****ed up by Spence in sparring? No one talkin about that doe. Sparring is sparring, nothing more. There's a reason many will spar G, but not fight him.
The only heavyweight in history that I can confidently say would beat a young Tyson is Ali. Even then, Tyson would have a chance to land a big shot, especially if Ali partied too much the previous night or something. Tyson's combination of speed, power, and underrated defense would be a problem for anyone.
Just watched the replay of the fight. Gotta admit...I thought Spence was gonna get exposed. Looks like the hype was justified! I want to see Thurman vs. Spence next. I give the slight edge to Thurman because of experience, but Spence is a stylistic problem for him. Can't wait!
....and so it begins
:lol1:
Didn't you learn ANYTHING from the fight you just watched????
Experience isn't a force-field...it won't keep Spence off those ribs.
Thurman couldn't even handles Luis Collazo's body attack.
did you miss the second part of the sentence you bolded? spence has the tools to beat thurman, but i just don't think he is ready yet. thurman has the speed advantage even if you call the power even. should be a great fight, and i hope boxing delivers another one!
i'm picking thurman because i don't think spence is ready YET. a full year from now, i might pick spence. i like spence's style more than thurman's, and i think it could be a match-up problem for thurman. this will be a great fight!
Since the Mayweather era, people love to harp on losses. Then, those same people turn around and question why the best aren't fighting the best. If Sugar Ray Robinson and Ali have losses on their record, that should tell you all you need to know. When you routinely fight the best, you WILL lose at some point, but the fans will always respect a fighter with heart who continually puts his balls on the line to prove he is the better man REGARDLESS of how many losses that fighter takes.
OP reminds me of my friend's bf, who thought he was a tough guy. He jumped in the ring with her (an amateur boxer), and she promptly put him on his ass with a swift 1-2.
P.S. Eff Pandas, your damn sig always stops me in the middle of a thread while I'm at work
OP says GGG hasn't dominated his competition at MW. Prior to Jacobs, over 20 straight fights ended in KO. Maybe OP is expecting GGG to commit murder every fight.
If OP wants to bring up the Jacobs fight being "close," that's fine. However, Danny was put on his ass in front of his home town, out landed the entire fight, given the benefit of the doubt by the judges in his home town (similar to AW's gift), and he STILL lost.
I love Bud. However, I would question whether he would have the speed/experience needed to beat Floyd. Bud takes a few rounds to figure out his opponents, but I get the feeling that he would not be able to figure out Floyd who would make adjustments throughout the fight until Bud stopped throwing. Put Bud up against a couple of top welters first. Then, we can revisit this discussion.
say whaaaat how do you figure that? mayweather let cotto who he says was one of the hardest punchers ..punch him in the face?
Pretty sure either Floyd himself or Sr. said he was trying to entertain the fans by letting Cotto put in some work (after facing a lot of criticism for "running"). You can say he was lying. However, judging by how badly he schooled Guerrero and Canelo in subsequent fights with his usual style, I think it's pretty plausible.
He may not be easy to beat, but, at the same time, he never won a big fight other than against a one-legged Sergio (unless you want to count a past-his-prime Mosley). Are we supposed to remember him as a destroyer after seeing what Pac did to him? The only reason he fought a somewhat close fight with Floyd is because Floyd let him. I thought Canelo clearly beat him, so I am not among those who thought it was that close of a fight.
That really weirded me out. Gave me chills actually. Hmmm.....
I honestly think he's a psychopath. I don't think he feels any emotions, which is why he enjoys inflicting pain in the ring, but he's bizarrely nice outside of it. I think the nice guy persona is an act to make him more likable to be honest.
Do u think Manny Pacquiao a psychopath? I don't think so, him n GGG have similar personalities.
Possible, but Manny does a lot of charitable work and seems genuinely nice. What charitable work does GGG do?
Like a sociopath? That was legit strange to me.
Yep. I think he's faking all of the emotions we see in interviews, which is why he smiled when he heard Canelo said he's gonna KO him. I don't think he knows which emotion to show at any given moment since he's faking them all. Maybe, I'm reading too much into it, but that's what I see.
Who knows? Just because it isn't reported doesn't mean he doesn't give back. Gennady came from the dirt also, he knows what it's like to struggle.
Look, I'm just pointing out an observation I made. I am not a psychologist, and others seem to have noticed similar things about G. Manny lets off the gas when he hurts people; he's been doing this for a while now. I love that GGG does not do this (as a boxing fan). His story is also impressive from where he came from. I am a huge fan of GGG the fighter, but I honestly do not know much about his life as a person (probably because he is very private about those details).
I'm amazed people aren't talking about this. He looked like he was about to fall over.
Video looked a little weird, but he's probably fine. Maybe slightly affected by the weight cut since he has not done the other weigh ins to keep him on track for a healthy cut.
