basics! politics and business. dollars and sense. lots of those guys would have made career high paydays. eubanks, saunders, ndam, etc. and others would have made paydays up there with anything other than major fights on ppv. sturm, cotto, canelo, froch, martinez. it's not just a matter of golovkin handing them an L and the money not being worth it, it's the manner of the L. it takes years and fights off of your career. golovkin is one of the most avoided fighters of the last 10 years because he's a big puncher and has a style that will deplete you. it was not just about the money in the short term, it was about money in the long term.

In sparring, either boxer can make a rude choice to go stronger out of curiosity... the fact is that Hendrix had ggg take a knee from a body shot... Guys get dropped in sparring all the time, no big deal. When you're prepping for a fight you bring in fresh partners every few rounds who are trying to take your head off. Unless of course you are McGregor in which case you bring in fat out of shape 140 pounders and ask them to spar 12 rounds.

Didn't Floyd get ****ed up by Spence in sparring? No one talkin about that doe. Sparring is sparring, nothing more. There's a reason many will spar G, but not fight him.

I'm all for exposing hypetrains but I don't think getting knocked down in sparring is a big deal. And I think sparring **** is interesting from a fan perspective but overblown in importance.
