It’s pathetic how people think Chavez was not landing at all. He was crushing Taylor with the shots he landed throughout the fight. Taylor just had faster hands throwing more making it seem like he was dominating. He wasn’t though, Chavez was putting in serious work as well. Not quite true Chavez was putting money in the bank with body shots and was making the fight closer as the fight wore on and I have no doubt if the fight was a 15 rounder he would have stopped Taylor.
Taylor should have ran in the 12th round but he was too much of warrior for that and that probably contributed to his early decline as a fighter as after this war he was basically shot.
He was able to win the WBA welterweight title but he never looked the same and was annihilated by Terry Norris and Espana.
His state these days is beyond sad.Comment

Chavez-Taylor 1 might be the most dramatic and exciting fight of all time. Boxing was the s h i t back in the day, they don't make'em like they used to.Comment

Chávez holds records for the most total successful defenses of world titles (27, shared with Omar Narváez), most title fight victories and fighters beaten for the title (both at 31), and most title fights (37); he has the second most title defenses won by knockout (21, after Joe Louis with 23).

I have no issues with the stoppage.
It if was any other round no one would have a issue with the stoppage but because the OPTION of ignoring the rules and giving Medrick Taylor the victory was there people are mad it didnt go that way lol.
I like the way the ref put it in the Ruiz vs Joshua fight where he was speaking on AJ spitting his mouth piece out looking for my time and I am paraphrasing here but he says "I know what he was trying to do and thats look for more time but the rules dont allow me to give him that" heres that documentary about that fight thats a real good watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9ZcXVnmWxQComment
