So you never noticed when Steele asked Taylor a question and Taylor looked to his corner, for some reason, right before the bout was stopped? ............Rockin'

Not to disregard the physical beating he took but the mental side of victory/defeat is a factor.
I've heard Eubank speak on how the joy of winning overshadowed the punishment he took against Nigel Benn, but the defeat to Thompson left him aching.
Ken Norton also said his confidence was shot after the third Ali fight where he didn't get the decision.
On the fight itself, at the time I felt Taylor was robbed. On reflection, I can see why it was stopped.Comment

Personally I think the ref should have threw Taylor a bone and let him continue being that there was only a couple seconds left. That's just me though I have a heart as big as Alaska. Historians always go back and forth on whether it was a good or bad stoppage. Touchy subject for sure.Comment

The rematch was 4 years later and after Taylor had suffered two brutal TKO losses to Terry Norris and Espana. It wasn't an immediate rematch. The fact that you're taking it out of that context shows you weren't watching boxing at the time or you're just dumb.Comment
