Didn’t watch it live but remember it well. A month after Tyson was upset and a couple weeks after Hank Gathers died. I would have been banned from boxing because I would have beat the hell out of Steele. He was known fir showing favoritism to King fighters. Had he been officiating Tyson/Douglass, he would have stopped the fight in the 8th after Douglass was knocked down.

I couldn't believe they stopped the fight.

Meldrick had earned the right to see the finish line.

Absolutely watched it while it went down. The house was going wild at the end.

Fact is meldrick prolly should have been given the benefit of the doubt. But he took a serious beating that night that goes unnoticed.

I felt bad for him but dude took a beating. They said he pissed blood for multiple days after.

Boxing is serious business and bad calls are made all the time and the beating he took makes one feel bad he didn’t get the benefit of thr doubt. But it is what it is and I have no issues with the decision. Fact is if that knock down happened a minute earlier Taylor may have never walked out of that ring that night.

Nobody earns the right to potentially be killed in the ring.

Taylor was cruising but in the last rounds he was getting it.

Even when it was a few seconds away from winning it, he could've been killed by another shot.

You should watch the ending a little more carefully... Taylor was holding onto the ropes the whole time during Steele's count. He was absolutely in no condition to continue. By the way, Steele waved the fight off with 4 to 5 seconds left which was plenty of time for Chavez to landed a coma-inducing shot on a defenseless Taylor. Taylor took a ton of clean single shots all night even though he outworked and outlanded Chavez for most of the fight.
