Rubbish. I can see why some people thought Dirrell won a close fight, but Froch was the aggressor who did all the inside work. Dirrell ran like a b**** no way he did enough to take away the champions belt that night.Comment

You just said that Froch had to travel all the time in the Super Six. You were obviously wrong about that.
Being the aggressor shouldn't be enough by itself to win a fight. It has to be EFFECTIVE aggression...then there is also clean punching, defense, and ring generalship to consider.
Dirrell won that night in England but they jobbed him.Comment

I didn't mean all the time literally, but it's a fact that Ward had significantly more home advantage than anyone else in the Super 6.You just said that Froch had to travel all the time in the Super Six. You were obviously wrong about that.

Dirrell completely stunk the joint out that night and came to run and steal a decision, imo he didnt do enough to take Froch's belt but I have no problem with anyone who scored it to Dirrell in a close fight, it was no robbery.
I'm not having a go at Ward like others in this thread, I think he was a very skilled fighter who beat my man Froch fair and square when they faced off. He was a bit dirty but this is the fight game, you do what you have to do.Comment

- -Wart stinks, the way it was, is, and forever shall be.
One brief moment of divine comedy when he called out money man, TUE 51-0 at a 162 lb catchweight for sheets and giggles and mo'money than the peanuts he was saddled with.Comment

Ward is cool, he wins by any means necessary and is a smart man's boxer.
Having said that...if he wasn't from the USA he would be a nobody with a few losses on his record. Only fighters from the USA, UK and sometimes Mexico get away with doing whatever they want. If he was from Cuba, Africa, Eastern Europe etc. And had to fight in other people's backyards every fight and the ref would deduct points/enforce the rules he wouldn't be too great .
Same can be said for most fighters we consider as greats from the US or UK. A great example is AJ and Fury who get away with murder because they are the A-side. Would love to see how AJ/Parker and Takam would have played out with the rules enforced, Fury as well and Klitschko too.
All that said, Ward fills a certain niche that attracts a decent sized fanbase. For those who may not be the best athletes ever I think he resonates through his heart and determination to win by any means necessary as I've already said. It ain't cheating if his opponent can do it too but chooses not to, all's fair in love and war as the saying goes. At the end of the day this isn't a sport, it's a war or a fight to the death and a win is a win. It's good to see that mentality.Comment
