Rewatching Andre Ward Fights During This Lockdown? JK. THAT DUDE WAS A CON JOB!

    HOLY **** L M F A O

    Biggest disgrace in boxing history.

    1. not entertaining

    2. all of his skills are illegal tactics (headbutts, clinching, roman greco wrestling, double legs, head butts, nut shots)

    3. boring as ***. all his fights are literally 2 dudes hugging it out. you have got to be a **** to like his fights.

    4. 0 wow factor. no athleticism. no power. just a lot of fouling.

i scratch my head at how this dude even carved out a career for himself in pro sports. and now he critiques people who actually fight within the rules of boxing. This dude is the biggest con job in boxing history. Period.

I'm just glad he ripped Jay Z off. PUAHAHAHAHAHA holy ***. that's poetic justice.

And yet he'll be a first ballot hall of fame fighter and one of the best to do it at 168. Great accomplishments for someone with only illegal tactics as skills.

      not written in stone yet.

his fights and legacy have not aged well. nobody even speaks of him in historical terms.

he was propped up his entire career. even in the olympics he had dubious fights where he clinched nonstop but i guess they dont have rules in the amateurs? the boxing establishment saw an opportunity to make money off an american gold medalist. its the same playbook they always havea had and they thought they could make money(lol) so they gave him every advantage and boy oh boy did he exploit it. for example he refused to join the super six unless every single fight was in his home country, meanwhile froch had to fight in 4? ridiculous. this wouldnt matter so much if his fights were on the up and up...but they werent.

some of his fights like kessler, bika, kovalev were pure farces. wrestling and holding and hitting nearly nonstop. did boxing do away with rules in the oakland jurisdiction or something? did you ever wonder why he fought clean against guys like paul smith and alexander brand and not against the other guys? because he had to just to stay in the fight! if he had great skills he would have been able to use them against the better comp.

now imagine if he was some random boxer from kazakhstan. yeah that would have propelled him to the top
boring boxer, cheating style, doesnt speak english, yeah lets make sure he wins all his fights! prmoters would be throwing contracts at him!

he won the genetic lottery by being born in the usa and having enough skills/smarts to exploit a very broken system. they were dying for new home grown stars to promote and they thought well lets try to sell this guy to the public...never really worked and all their hard work didnt lead to anything but lots of money for ward, good for him but bad for boxing

Andre Ward is like cancer to boxing.

one of the reasons why the popularity of boxing is shot these days.

i dont think you can blame him too much i mean it wasn't too popular before he came along, although you are right and boxing is a zero sum game meaning the promoters and networks spent some of their resources on ward fights when they could have been showing some good quality stuff instead, but like i said before they were chasing money and ratings which ultimately never came because of his horrid style.

ill put it this way. if ggg was born in the states he would have been a star boxer, actually even faster since he would have gotten more notice earlier. if ward was born anywhere else he probably never even has a pro career, and if he does no one would give him any notice at all, best case scenario would be that he builds up a shiny undefeated record and gets a big fight and gets dq'd henry awkindade style. unfortunately when you are the a-side you can do anything you want. henry you were born in the wrong place!

Excellent thread. A very big sore loser also. He still talks like he destroyed Kovalev, but he knows that he lost the first fight. His ego is bigger than his house.
