The point is that it is rational to expect that Hearns renegotiate the contract. It simply is the case that it might be better for Ruiz to break the contract under these conditions, like the cookie example.

People keep talking about the rematch clause in the contract as though it is set in stone...it has already been renegotiated considerably. Again, this will be considered as well.
The contract is set in stone in terms of where team Joshua decides everything basically. Ruiz own trainer has said they must follow whatever was in the contract for the rematch they signed into Boxing scene is once again cutting out important things here because its non AJ friendly site with misinformation a lot we get that but this was tried to be explained to you guys on here but you'd rather believe falsehoods that don't make sense ? Hearn just did a press conference and confirmed the amount Ruiz has agreed to stays and he has been signed. Ruiz hasnt come out and called his bluff and that's because its the truth.

Theres so many wrong things in your post but im going to stop here ,its the same old argument for a month now. Ha

      That's absolutely right.

      • Eddie has the Saudi's agreement and has negotiated for their agreement for non-revealing of AJ's PED post testing! Bottom line for taking this fight to Saudi desert..

None of us have seen the contract, but common sense should tell us that neither side wants AJ and Ruiz to end up fighting each other in the courts instead of in the ring. That's why Hearn said he was going to show Andy "respect" and negotiate with him, instead of just trying to force him into anything.

There are also 3 sanctioning bodies to take into account and 2 mandatory challengers waiting for their shots at the WBO and IBF titles Ruiz is currently holding.

Even without Arum badgering them on Pulev's behalf, the IBF will strip Andy in a flash if he doesn't go through with the rematch immediately, as contracted.

          • Ruiz should just pull out with a broken back, 72hrs before fight night. After only training at home and not showing up to Saudi Arabia at all

Courts have the power to stop Ruiz from defending them though. The sanctioning bodies will then do the "vacating".

This contract has already been partially renegotiated you do realise this? And my point is not to hate on Joshua it is to get people to understand that contracts are broken all the time when there is greater value to do so.

The real issue is to make it worth it to abide by the contract. Joshua would also suffer if this became a court proceeding.

Oh and Ruiz is drawing this out... last i heard it is still not official, then it was official, then it was not lol. Im only partially joking.

I can appreciate your point about Buster Douglas, but I don't see things shaking out the same way for Ruiz; whether he wins or not. Buster shocked the world against Tyson, then lost in a dismal showing against Evander and then he retired for 6 years. He did eventually make a comeback, but way too late to make money. Even if Ruiz loses bad to AJ in the rematch, I would argue that he is still a highly marketable HW fighter. After all, the HW division is never very deep so name fighters who want to make money have to fight other name fighters.
                  ——-

I can agree to that. Thing is Ruiz is small for modern era HW so he’ll def make money but I don’t think he’ll ever top the win over AJ

He’s got the tools for sure. Separate question, what are your thoughts on his weight? If he was to lose weight and come in at 220 Ibs, do you think he’d be better?

One one interview he said he intentionally stayed at that weight to keep his power

These are all issues for sure. I feel like people take the issues with this contract personally lol. When you try to get them to consider the whole situation they demand that "The contract is the contract!!!" Well it isn't that way at all.

Getting someone to sign a contract under duress creates the potential for this type of situation to manifest. Obviously Ruiz had to sign the contract in front of him for the first fight. naturally Ruiz wants to better his position and knows he is a valuable part of the rematch. I don't claim to speak about who is right, or wrong... What I just stated is a fact.

Ruiz will naturally do what favors his position...He knows that Joshua needs him for this rematch and if he will benefit from breaking the rematch clause, he shall do so.

Forcing performance contractually is only easy when contracts are written benefitting both parties at Arm's length. THIS WAS NOT AN ARM'S LENGTH CONTRACT...It was a contract benefitting the champion. Ruiz was negotiating as one who was being given an opportunity. Writing the contract is half the battle isn't it? Now with so many things in play, like the things you mention, Hearns has to find a way to force performance.

That is my take. One cannot simply say "well a contract is a contract." It does not always work that way. I agree with you just explicating my take.

Stand by your guns and don't be like other people we know.
AJ and Ruiz didn't even split 50 Mill between them the first time, but you want Ruiz to be paid that just for himself? You have no concept of money or business and behave like a child would. Get off the internet because you're just too ridiculous. Ruiz signed a contract he had no problem with before so has to honour it. God you're pathetic in ways that should be illegal.
