A losing champ shouldn't be able to make rematch clauses like what Fast Eddie did.

Not to the extent the loser gets to set pay, time and venue and probably, ref, judges, dope tests and glove choice too now.

This contract has already been partially renegotiated you do realise this? And my point is not to hate on Joshua it is to get people to understand that contracts are broken all the time when there is greater value to do so.

The real issue is to make it worth it to abide by the contract. Joshua would also suffer if this became a court proceeding.

No, most of us don’t. Many claim to know exactly what’s in the contract, others are guessing, and some (like me) openly admit to never seeing a boxing contract, and having no idea how much detail goes into a rematch clause. My assumption though is that they aren’t all the same. My line of thinking has always been that If EVERYTHING was ironed out in the first contract, then we would already have this fight set.

The fight is set, Ruiz is shouting emptiness of nothing on twiter ,but seems only the gullible believe him. It's weird that Haymon signed off on all of the power being in Matchroom's hands in case of a rematch. They must have had no hope of a Ruiz victory. Shows how big of an upset this was.

You're getting $200K a fight, you get a chance to fight for 3 belts and 20X your highest pay day, but you have to accept a rematch clause (which any champion will have in a voluntary), for 40X your highest pay day, and they get to choose the location.

The sanctioning bodies would rather have AJ is their champ as he commands higher purses and their fee’s are a percentage of that.
If Ruiz decides to fight this he would be on the shelf for a few years.
The sanctioning bodies would gladly strip him and let AJ fight for a vacant title then see the champ fight nobody for at least 2 years and probably more.
