A change of venue is a considerable change. Unless it was stated in the original contract that the venue was to be determined.

Not the legal term... But definitely under duress. The guy had no bargaining power, he went in there a sub. he was lucky to get the fight and he knew that. I will concede that the choice of this word is confusing because of the legal term "duress." So lets say he went in with no leverage what so ever. Nobody likes to be in that position. And for the sake of clarity lets say this lack of leverage would be troubling to anyone in that situation.

The point is that it is foolhardy to think that when he won that fight it did not increase his leverage regarding performance (i am using this term legally in this case) in the fight to come. Ruiz should be expected to try to have a better bargaining position and renegotiate provisions in the contract...it happens all the time with contracts.

My point is that this interplay is part of the negotiation. Ruiz does have to perform for the fight to happen and Hearn is not just being "nice" to accomodate him any more than Ruiz is being untrustworthy by trying to increase his position in the rematch.

If this were to go to court there might be all kinds of things bare and it is in Hearn's interest to put certain things back on the table due to Ruiz's change in value.

And he’s certainly not giving Andy the chance of a lifetime AGAIN. Last I checked, Andy Ruiz Jr is the heavyweight Champion of the World.
I’m with you on this argument. There’s always been carpet bagging in boxing, and there’s always been contract disputes. The courts are full of contract litigations. What if AJ demanded two? Three? Four? Rematch clauses? Winning the belts should afford u sum sort of stroke like u imply. AJ picked the time and place the first time, then got rubbished. Now as the loser he gets to tell the champ when and where again? That looks pretty lame for boxing. Every fan on here has seen unfair hometown bias. I mean it’s written in the nes Punch Out Manual!! I just think measures should be made to avoid situations like this.

I can agree to that. Thing is Ruiz is small for modern era HW so he’ll def make money but I don’t think he’ll ever top the win over AJ

He’s got the tools for sure. Separate question, what are your thoughts on his weight? If he was to lose weight and come in at 220 Ibs, do you think he’d be better?

One one interview he said he intentionally stayed at that weight to keep his power
I personally think he should trim down a bit, but I have doubts that he could get down to 220lbs. I think trimming down to 250lb could be great for him, but he knows his body. Against AJ, he would seem to have the advantage in stamina at any weight (AJ himself needs to drop 10-15lbs of muscle), but the more mobile and energetic he is the better his chances IMO.

Beating AJ has made Ruiz into a star in Mexico and raised his profile tremendously world wide. If he fought Wilder next he would earn more than $9million, even without his titles.

Retiring for a while would get him out of his contract with Hearn and AJ, but would Wilder still be WBC champion when Andy came back?

It would be a risky strategy. And of course, he wouldn't be earning anything during his "retirement".
Ruiz could fight the last guy standing from the Wilder Fury Joshua triad 2 years later. He'd be promoted as the uncrowned champion. He would be the last piece of the puzzle for the ultimate undisputed heavyweight champ. That's all pending lawsuits do not stop him from fighting ever again. In addition if Joshua comes out on hop, then there's more money to be made with Ruiz. That won't happen because Fury would outbox Joshua and Wilder will eventually land a punch to Joshua's head. All speculation and assumptions of course.
