The more I see Plant the more I think he probably outboxes Canelo

Plant had well over 100 amateur fights, kickboxing bouts and has 20 odd as a pro with many at championship level. He has been fighting since he could walk and is a total gymrat - that is where he gets his experience staying dedicated in the gym honing his craft.

His skills, high ring I.Q those come from experience.

Get ready to bump this at the weekend, I can't wait.

He's going to outbox Canelo and make him look inexperienced.

Yes, he will. Until he gets caught, exactly like Kovalev. I'm picking (and betting on) Canelo by KO between 9th and 11th rounds.

I'm absolutely convinced (doesn't mean I am right) but all the same I am convinced this guy will give Canelo nightmares.

I don't want to say its a bad style match up but he has the style and all the tools to do it.

How can we compare him to BJS whom many gave a chance and who was practically on even terms with Canelo until one punch landed but this guys wrote off almost as a no-hoper by many? If you want to compare him to BJS is out of the realm of possibility he could potentially do a little better?

So what you are betting on is a punchers chance?

I don't like Canelo one iota. But sure as hell, when he punches he hurts his opponent. And wastes very little.

Then again, anything can happen in boxing. But if Kovalev failed, I can't see how Plant succeeds.

If he was to stop Plant I imagine it'll likely be around that timeframe - late on but to bet on Canelo between rounds 9-12 is a pathetic 3/1 odds

Awfully low reward. If I am taking that play I'd personally be hoping for maybe 6/1 or so to make it worth the risk.
Just my opinion but good luck.

Kovalev was old, damaged goods and in desperate need of money. He also had a gruelling war with Anthony Yarde just a few months prior.
He had no time to recover and was straight back in camp which is very dangerous especially as you get older.

Lets not forget even though he avenged it Eleider Alvarez also whooped a better version of Kovalev in better fashion than Canelo did.

I'm betting on the single rounds, 9, 10 and 11, the odds ranging from 13:1 to 17:1 at the moment. I could fail, though.

The odds on every round for a Plant KO are 101:1. Tempting... but I'll pass.

I know, and in fact I was impressed by that lower version of Krusher easily outboxing Canelo for almost 11 rounds.

The fact is, I can't see anything in Plant that makes me believe he will keep Canelo off him for a long time.

Needless to say, I'll be messaging you with a hats off if you get it right.

Can't wait for this fight. The whole boxing world, casual and hardcore are drinking the Canelo juice, throwing analysis to the wind. I've watched the Uzcategui fight probably 10x over(as it's really the only relevant fight to watch of Plant's) but every time I watched I was less critical and more impressed with the layers to Plant's game. For all the talk about his stamina, from rounds 7-10 his punch output and accuracy increased. He seems to bleed easily though, which is a worry, but he definitely showed a lot of grit in that fight. People talk a lot about this fight but Uzcategui is much longer and throws from weird angles but it's not like he actually landed very many clean punches on Plant. And when he did, Plant took them well. Canelo is not unhittable or unbeatable. We've seen that time and time again. I watched the Kovalev fight enough times and saw Canelo uncomfortable whenever Kovalev saw chance to land in moments of lulls or counter and throw punches other than half power jabs while adding a bit of movement. Either way, I know it will be more competitive fight than most expect.
