The more I see Plant the more I think he probably outboxes Canelo

I think its gone from Canelo struggling vs movers/slicksters being a touch overplayed too him being overrated vs them. Maybe not overrated but given the benefit of the doubt a bit too much.

Plant is a better boxer from a technical standpoint at least, than BJS for example. BJS to me talented sure but for me he never really translated well to the pros despite achieving a fair amount. He is one of those that is very very good for the first four rounds after that he just losses the snap on his shots, looks laboured and just looks like your average run-of-the-mill southpaw. Double jab, double jab, double jab left hand zzz
    Basic.

BJS appears slicker because he bends at the waist a lot, a bit more herky-jerky and fights with a bit more ''swag'' but I don't think he's as slick, as polished or fundamentally sound as Plant just more cagey/jittery,
I'm not sure he is athletic either maybe on par for 4 or so rounds. That isn't to say I am 100% sold on Plants stamina I did think he faded in a few of his earlier fights notably against Uzcategui.
The more I see Plant he more I am impressed. I think there are a lot of unknowns/questions but the more I see him the more he reminds me of Andre Ward, SMW Ward minus the inside fighting & roughhouse tactics. Not the visibly slower, less sharp LHW version. I don't think SMW Ward gets the credit he deserved, he was a beast at that weight.

That is no gimme or easy fight for Canelo.

Toughest fight for Canelo since Lara imo and I think he is actually a tougher fight than Beterbiev and Benavidez. They would try walk him down, you don't pressure a Mexican counter-puncher. Its like Marquez you go too him he will light your ass up.
You box him, you make him lead and that is Plants MO.

Plant has the tools to win this, skillwise, stylistically. He does a lot of what recent opposition have done well vs Canelo but better.
He has a faster, sharper jab than GGG. He has the versatility and feints GGG lacks. The athleticism and defensive footwork to get back out of range with better glove positioning and reflexes.
GGG just has a power jab. Just a hard thudding jab he really commits too, he steps in very hard with it. Plant can hook off the jab. He has a good stab-jab, sets it up well fakes it and will walk you onto the check hook and tie you up, classic Floyd. Constantly feinting with purpose now like these mimickers out there, these endless amount of copycats that are doing certain moves with no real purpose behind them.
He's a good boxer, very educated lead hand. He might have the most educated left hand lead in boxing right now.

I have Plant outboxing him. 116-112 type fight

I'll go a step further and say I don't think Canelo has any real advantages apart from power, experience and probably the chin. Fundamentals, skills, Plant all day. He's a better boxer than Canelo, period.

I don't understand a lot of comments about Plant.
People questioning his defense, that guys slicker than an oil spill. His defense is right up there with anyone at the minute. He's a great defensive boxer!

What does he do better than Canelo? Hmm everything?! Real talk, no trolling.

Canelo has fought much, much better opponents but idc, Plant will outbox him and make him look bad. He'll expose a lot of flaws Canelo gets away with.
People will say Oscar was bitter but an angry person that is usually the only time they'll speak the damn truth.
When he went on a tangent about Canelo's flaws, he wasn't wrong or talking cr4p.
Not to say he isn't a great fighter but there are some pretty bad flaws and tendencies there he gets away with far too much.

I respect your opinion. I think Canelo is on another level. We can put some friendly points on it if you like. I see Canelo tee offing on Plant in less than 8 rounds.

Body punching is key for Canelo.

Do points still work as before? I'm happy to take a friendly wager on it.

You've actually just made me miss betting points back in the good old days, it added a little fun/bragging rights to it.

Unless Canelo is crippled that night, Plant has no chance. I see it as a punishing mismatch. Canelo is pissed off now and is saying if Plant persists in talking about him and past drug accusations, he'd cancel the fight (DBN).

Not sure if it still works. I think the rep system is still under construction, or forgotten about.
