For all the talk about his stamina, from rounds 7-10 his punch output and accuracy increased. He seems to bleed easily though, which is a worry, but he definitely showed a lot of grit in that fight. People talk a lot about this fight but Uzcategui is much longer and throws from weird angles but it's not like he actually landed very many clean punches on Plant. And when he did, Plant took them well. Canelo is not unhittable or unbeatable. We've seen that time and time again. I watched the Kovalev fight enough times and saw Canelo uncomfortable whenever Kovalev saw chance to land in moments of lulls or counter and throw punches other than half power jabs while adding a bit of movement. Either way, I know it will be more competitive fight than most expect.
People also forget that Uzcategui is actually a good fighter too lol. Canelo would lose rounds to him as well.

His skills, high ring I.Q those come from experience.

Get ready to bump this at the weekend, I can't wait.

He's going to outbox Canelo and make him look inexperienced.
It should be interesting. Canelo has been outboxed in many fights. Wasn’t a shot Kovalev up on points? He can definitely be outpointed

I don't see Plant as an elite level Boxer based on what I've seen of him in his last few fights. He's a good fighter but simply inexperienced and not on Canelo's level. Is Canelo unbeatable? No, but it's going to take an exceptional fighter to beat him right now and Plant ain't that guy to me. Canelo stops him within 8-9 rounds.

Plant will win some rounds. Canelo has become a master in maneuvering the fighter where he wants them and they don't even know it. Plant will gas out and get caught in the later rounds.

Can he get a fair shake? I highly doubt it.

But for the record, for bragging rights I'll go out on a limb and say I pick him to outbox Canelo and quite surprisingly comfortably. It'll be competitive I'm certain but I feel Plant will be a clear winner in most peoples eyes just probably not the judges.
The thing is Plant does what he does with B graders, this is a class above where he has been, yes he has the tools but can he keep it up for 12 rounds with Canelo hunting him.and capable of stopping him at any tick of the clock, that constant pressure and power game will make for a very long 36 minutes for Plant..

Man, Canelo is very experienced now. Plant has very little chance to make this thing interesting.

Plant is not Mayweather of 168. You must be a big puncher to trouble Canelo.

Plant's got fast hands and feet but I don't know how he'll be able to leverage that against an opponent that he can't back up. Canelo's got a combination of chin, head movement and defensive nouse even when he's advancing that pretty much guarantees that he's going to be on the front foot on a permanent basis. Plant can keep moving and boxing and probably win fairly long stretches of the fight, but when you're under pressure like Canelo puts you under you're more likely to make mistakes, and Canelo is already one of the best fighters in the game when it comes to forcing his opponent into errors as it is. Eventually Plant's going to be forced into close quarters and once he is it's not hard to see him being swiftly cut down. I do think Plant's the most legit challenge to Canelo in the division and as the underdog I'm rooting for him to win, but not only do I think he needs to fight the fight of his life, I also think Canelo needs to have an off night just for him to have a chance.

I think so often we put too much stock into power and also fighters chins or lack of conditioning rather than focusing more on skills, styles and the things that actually probably win fights 9/10.

Plant did fade but Uzcategui is a gigantic SMW, he'd be a big big LHW, very aggressive and that was just Plants second 12 rounder and it was 3 years back. He found his second wind and ticked a lot of boxes, has gone 12 since without any issue.
I think its going that initial 12 for a lot of fighters, learning how to pace yourself and such.
While Canelo pressures well he shown far more issues I'd say going 12 rounds albeit not as much recently but I think its mainly because he is more economical even then he faded horribly for me after just 3-4 rounds vs GGG in the rematch, similar story vs Jacobs. He's not a guy like Uzcategui that will make you fight every minute of every round. He fights in bursts.

Plant is a gymrat I wouldn't bank on him fading. He is always in the gym, never out drinking, never blowing up in weight.

He may well fade and get stopped but I have to give a guy like that the benefit of the doubt. It does give me a little cause for concern but its not like BJS where he gasses out after 5 rounds in every fight then losses his shape completely.

I see this going the distance

I feel Canelo tends to do better on the whole vs big punchers actually.
Possibly because they tend to be a little slower albeit a lot more heavy handed and he can see the shots coming. Its fast twitch guys who generate a lot of snap that seem to make him most uncomfortable and whose pop seems to bother him more.

Plant is definitely fast and accurate enough to get any ones respect in there.
