Outside of this forum, I never hear anyone talk about MMA/UFC.Combat sports are very niche, most people aren't into that stuff at all.

I'm in a fight city & folks definitely know more about & talk about MMA/UFC more than boxing. Outside of Canelo fight week or some big fight in boxing anyway.

The worst one is Tim Sylvia losing to a 48 yr old shot Ray Mercer in an MMA fight. Silva was UFC HW champion only 2 years prior to that fight.

That’s like in 2 years Tyson Fury losing to Mirko Cro Cop in a boxing match- it would just never happen because elite boxers operate at a far higher level within their discipline.

I’m a fan of both sports but boxing is clearly superior in terms of talent, depth, history, lineage, global influence etc etc. Professionally organised MMA barely has like a 30 year history. The only guys who think it’s killing boxing and all that sh** are just MMA stans or just generally illogical people. Both sports can co-exist fine.

Sh^t bruh I saw Floyd win the Michigan Golden Gloves when he was "the kid who's dad fought SRL". That don't mean boxing isn't a horribly ran sport & nothing makes sense outside of the ring. The UFC runs MMA like a real sport. Boxing is ran by a bunch of mfers who can't see how big the sport would be if they ran it properly. Thats just the reality. If you don't like all forms of fighting like I & many others do fair play, but plenty of mfers like all forms of fighting without hating boxing or MMA or whatever lame theory you have about that sorta sh^t.

Floyd & Manny woulda fought 3 or 4 times if they were MMA guys in the UFC.

Except its not like that at all is it, because Tim Sylvia had been dropped from the UFC and had been stopped in 36 seconds in his previous fight. Youre also ignoring things like Mercer and him having an agreement to box only (it was originally supposed to be a boxing match), the concept of punchers chance and how its more of a factor in 4oz gloves, Mercers other MMA fight being him getting outboxed and tapped out by Kimbo ****ing Slice, or that time Ray went to K-1 and quit in 20 seconds because he didnt like being kicked in the head. Or the tons of other examples of boxers going to MMA or kickboxing and looking terrible.

Its pretty simple - boxers will get embarrassed in MMA 90% of the time and land a good punch the other 10% for the upset. While MMA fighters will probably never beat an equivalent boxer in boxing, but wont look anywhere near as bad in losing either.

Not sure the bolded is necessarily even true these days btw. Especially considering elite boxers are often not fighting other elite boxers to definitively prove who is actually elite. It feels pretty hard to be like "yeah Jon Jones is a bum compared to Canelo" "Khabib aint **** compared to Crawford".

At least you admit that this is exclusively down to boxing having a massive head start and basically being the only game in town for most of its history. The gap is closing quickly in pretty much every respect though.
