If MMA had really overtaken it wouldn't have to restate the claim every week or so.

2018 was a quieter year (until the Conor/Khabib fight) but i dont think that really constitutes an actual pattern of decline. I mean 2014 was an even weaker year numbers wise but then the following year Conor and Ronda blew up and the year after that was the peak. Likewise 2020 killed it and 2021 has been doing great so far. If you look at the 2010s as a whole the UFC was legit at least 3x as big as it was in the 00s (especially internationally) and in the 00s it was much bigger than it had been in the 90s.

Boxing has its issues, but MMA is not one of them. The UFC and MMA are threat to boxing as much as the NFL is to the NBA...

See the difference in athleticism and art. It's the reason boxers get paid so much more. People pay more to see it. Meritocracy.

ok, ill set you a challenge, from the last 3 months give me a list of cards/dates and fights to prove the best were fightin the best.
if this was true there'd be no one else left to fight except repeat fights.

i don't buy that at all. unless you have a top 5-10 list and it's more like 'two top ten fighters fighting each other' in which case we get that in boxing all the time on all major promotions.

              examples
              the past month from matchroom.

              main event fights
              povetkin vs whyte
              okolie vs glowacki
              estrada vs choclatito
              rungvisai vs sithmorseng

the above is all from march alone, only the rungvisai one in thailand wasnt a huge fight but still it was rungvisai. the rest were big fights, inc the okolie fight because it was a world title fight.
              that's just matchroom boxing.
there were decent undercard fights on some of those cards too.

top rank had beterbiev fighting the other day. There was the valdez vs berchelt in feb.
goldenboy had the hooker vs ortiz fight just the other day.

so the level of boxinging very recently alone was Very very good. the content in terms of quality and levels, every bit as good if not better than what the ufc gives us. the difference, mma is more centralised with the ufc, therefore easier to market.
they sped a ton marketing it.

              it's like this
i have a website that ranks number 5-10 in it's relevant market.
it is FAR better than the number 1 and 2 websites. i offer far more than the competition in options, in content, everything. yet they are locked in at nujmber 1 and 2 and they get x100-200 as many hits per day than i do which in turn means that due to volumes they do, they are far bigger than me and in turn they put that money back in to google ads and even youtube ads.

that's ufc's position to say, matchroom. they've been in that market longer and were dedicated to growing in a sport they have a monopoly on. they have bigger revenues and spend that on marketing on levels matchroom can't compete with.

example, fury vs wilder, the networks spent $20m promoting it. it did 800k ppv buys.
what do ufc spend? $100m a yr on marketing.
              lol.

Best fight the best, surely you jest?

In the last 10 fights for Cerrone before he fought McMuffin he lost 6 fcucking times 4 of which were by punches. Cerrone was the best?

Poirier, a guy they threw to him as an easy meal - a guy he hammered 7 years ago like a nail totally backfired on him and got wrecked.

UFC is a bunch of no names, all the fighters I been seeing suck d.ick.

I hate Spence and Crawford, you guys got like a standardized reply sheet or something, too easy! Start reading my posts instead of pidgeon holing me into sh.it you don't know about.

McGregor wasn't the champion. The champion always has to face the best. If you are the champion you are not allowed to pick your opponent the way boxing "champions" are.

                      Never has and never will...

MMA will always be the red headed step child of boxing.
