With listons long arms im curious how he deals with Rocky coming in so close. Rocky is pretty strong so I wonder if Liston can keep shoving him back and hitting him. Cause if rocky gets inside hell maul Liston who wont be able to fight back with an 84 reach. Against patterson it’s different because he was so much stronger and had no respect.

also Rocky in retirement was 235-255 lbs

Rocky's arms are so short, he must have had problems are the mens urinal. Liston's are much longer for sure, but I never saw the reported 84" reach measured out correctly. He looks a shade taller than Marciano who was about 5'11". I think Rocky was big enough to face Liston. Whether he wins or not is a different story. If Liston's intangibles came into play. I'll take Marciano. If not, give me Liston.

True. But if Marciano was younger and in his prime, he could get it done. Tough fight for either man.

I don't think either is 6 feet tall. Both in their prime, height would not be a factor.

It means that both of these guys walked around over 220... Either one could have chosen to bulk up, or... come in as light and agile as possible. The picture is revealing in this respect. it shows that weight is only one aspect of being a heavy weight. I tend to believe that liston was underrated. He was an incredible finisher, IMO the best @ heavyweight, he was mean in the ring, had agility power and that reach... hard to bet against the Rock but Liston imo was the goods and then some.

People buy into 6' Liston's reach being 84" which is ridiculous.

If Fury fought back then, people would actually believe he was 6'9 for the sake of mythologising him as an old era ATG.

I cannot remember which fight this was in, but it registered Liston's reach as 80.5" on the tale of the tape.
