No way did Pee Wee beat Chavez Sr. - expectations were low for Whitaker because Chavez was being touted as unbeatable, so when he was able to neutralize Chavez's attack casuals mistakenly concluded that must mean he won the fight. Whitaker never took it to Chavez; all he succeeded in doing that night was avoid getting beat up. The draw was the proper decision. You let the 'expectations game' spin your head around.Comment

- - It took Frankie Randell to beat JC Sr pillar to post, and the people cheered.
Pea had some top natural attributes for a fighter, but finishing a fighter he ducked for years after Sr completely wrecked Taylor, well, that's too difficult and not in Pea's DNA. Clowning was his forte that he got away with vs lesser opponents.
End of the day their nose candy finished both, but Sr held on for a swan song. Pea didn't even have that in him.Comment

No, I wasn't making a statement on that fight whatsoever (thats why I noted it as an "aside").
I just hate the premise that when a favorite wins (or draws) a fight by a closer margin than anticipated, that people use that as evidence that he actually lost. A fight is judged by what happens in the ring, not expectations prior to.Comment

But, at 160-168-175 I'd still take Toney over Hopkins.
Thanks.Last edited by tokon; 01-09-2022, 02:01 PM.Comment

Christ, what a goon you prove to be. Hagler would walk right through GGG, chopping him up fine. I see you really DO know nothing, Nash outlandish, and were even dumb enough to include the phrase "with ease." Hagler faced bigger punchers, and they could not hurt him. GGG made a career of feasting on scrubs and waiting for Canelo, whom he admittedly beat at least once.Comment
