At a press conference this weekend at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis to hype Roy Jones vs Prince Amaju on July 29th, Jones suprised the media by showing up. Although Jones was 45 minutes late, he is famous for not showing up at all for press conferences. Roy Jones Jr made a startling revelation on why he lost the third fight against Antonio Tarver. Jones Jr blames his father for that loss, saying he made a conscience decision to loss. He made that choice in the fifth round of the fight. Jones says that is when he decided that he wasn't going to win the fight. Jones Jr is quoted by Tim Smith of the New York Daily at the conference as saying: "If I had won the fight my father would have gotten all the glory and he didn't deserve it. If I had knocked out Tarver they would have said it was because of him. My father don't deserve this. Where were you the last 12 years? He's a sharp guy. Having him was more bad than good. He's a good boxing guy. He taught me. But he's not good for me.''" in resonse to RJJ"bitch please"

glen johnson vs lacy would be a war I like this fight, but like ost everyone said, Lacy has limited boxing skill and makes no ajustments. terrible conner. tarver would knock him out easy. Ps. I hate tarver.

I just got a chance to go back on HBO On-Demand and was watching the MAB vs Rocky Juarez fight and was watching ther interview with Hopkins and Tarver....now ive got to ask the opinions of you guys.... Is Tarver as good as he says?...I've seen a few of his fights and obviously he is impressive, but calling himself the best light heavy ever, and the best fighter Hopkins has ever faced.... am I stupid for thinking if Hopkins comes out fighting that he has a shot at Tarver? or is he truly that much better than Bernard? Soda No No and hell no. He is a heavy wieght fighting at light heavy and that is the sole reason he is a problem for anyone in that division. If he moves up to cruiser or heavy against someone credible, he gets ktfo. He is 61 or 2 and walks around at 210 even before the rocy movie.Don't be suprized iflil old man bernard beats him.

Why does it seem that quite a few people show disdain for Antonio Tarver? I know he talks a whole bunch, but so do many other boxers. Although he isn't one of my favorite boxers to watch, I totally respect him for coming back from drug addiction. That is not a small thing to overcome. I think he is overated. I dont hate him because he beat roy jones. Styles make fights and he would have beaten roy 10 times out of 10 even in rouys prime. But other than jones he has not been impressive. but he continues to run his mouth. I am sure if he beats bernard he will believe he deserves cresit. Anyone who knows whats up knows he is a spot picker and is not trying to fight ligit chalenges.

I dont understand why this guy is ranked #3 on most p4p list, it seems that after beating Mosley twice and a BLOWN_UP WACK version of the Felix Trinidad most people came to love (when he was KOing MOFOs) the guy skyrocketed to the top, i dont understand it! If you look at his resume despite his 50 wins the guys he has faced are basically namless nobodies, this includes his 3 losses (Vargas is, was and will always be overrated,JCV was good for like a second and well Simon could have been a major force but ....)! It seems to me that the TRINIDAD fight left this impression that he was a GREAT FIGHTER, and even with that TRINIDAD had already gotten his block knocked-off and came back to fight Wright after fighting two defensivless BUMS! I mean Wright has a great defense, YES and can beat up on guys smaller then him YES, but what has he really done other then beating GUYS naturally smaller then him to be #3 or higher on P4P list? The fact is this SAT he will be exposed for the SUB_PAR fighter he is and i wouldnt be surprised if after the fight, he drains himself and goes back to the roll of bullying little people! I mean it was evident in the Soliman fight that he will have major trouble fighting at MW with guys his size and his strength, and even in that fight he was the bigger man(he was 171 Sam was 158), what do you think his gonna do when he comes in at say 170-174 and Taylor comes in a little bigger then that? I can't hate on europeans for wishing the best for Calzaghe... I remember when I was stationed in Germany for 4 years, the germans were trying to tell me that Dariusz Michalczewski was the best Light Heavyweight... and the Klitschko brothers were on every damn billboard in the country( this was before Vitali was even decent and before Dariusz had lost a fight)... Rooting for your country is acceptable...It's patriotism in it's finest... But Hatton and Calzaghe are not near the best P4P...let them prove themselves....I enjoy both of them, but reality has to play a part in your rankings.... I am not european and I put calzaghe in the top 3. its hard not to when people still place M.A.B in the top 5 and that is funny. I agree with you about hatton. With that performance alone he won my vote. I respect your opinion on joe but it is not fare to gage him based on his performance against soooooo green and sooooo one demesional and soooooo overated jeff lacy. he is however in the top three. winning that many fights without a loss is impressive 1. pbf 2.hopkins (he spit the fights the taylor) 3. calzaghe( until someone beats him he is in the same boat as hopkins was long title reign)

Whats up people. Im new to the board and don't post much but I have to say that i think most of you all are reading to much into the race thing. The way I see It Byrd has a great chance to win because he is the more consistant fighter. What you see is what you get when it comes to Byrd. Although Wlad is much more talanted, He is the definiton of a skitphrenic boxer. Germany gives him an edge even if the best Wlad does not show up.
