So Bob Arum is going to have "A good long talk with Manny when he gets to the U.S."??? First of all,...it's none of Bob's business. What if Manny had a problem with Bob's Liberal beliefs? I'm sure Bob Arum is a pro choice progressive Liberal kind of guy. That's his business. I always thought it was funny when Bob Arum introduced Manny to Harry Reid and Barrack Obama. I figured Manny was a little out of place around this group. He is more than likely a pro life conservative based person. So now he's going to have these nosey, condescending people giving him the third degree about his beliefs? Right before a fight with Timothy Bradley? This will be very disruptive to the camp. I hope Freddy Roach steps up and talks to Bob first. He should have Bob save his words until AFTER the fight. This is not an easy fight at all. I feel sorry for Manny!! He's stuck with all these douche bags!!! I don't think he realized the company he was with. Maybe all this crap will get him agitated and nasty. He could use some zip and killer instinct.

I just watched a you tube video that has Floyd Sr., Roger, and Jeff together giving commentary on Manny Pacquiao. The 3 of them are just utterly dismissive that this fight will be even remotely competitive. Roger is the most disrespectful of the 3. It almost offends him if anyone even suggests that Manny would last a round with his nephew. He has a venomous snear on his face as he says these things. These 3 guys are going to look like fools if this fight is even half way competitive. But my larger issue or question is this: Why do they have so much contempt for Pacquiao. They are all(especially Roger) almost visceral in their tone towards Manny. Is it because he's Asian? Is it because they think he's a steroid cheat? Is it because Floyd Jr. is percieved by many as being afraid to fight Pacquiao? Is it because of Roach(and his being a 7x BW's trainer of the year recipient? OR IS IT ALL OF THE ABOVE?

I have seen some footage of Manny hitting the mitts extensively in orthodox stance. I have never seen him do this before,...and I've watched a lot of footage of him hitting the mitts. Could this be a part of Roach's plan? Manny did look explosive and powerful in orthodox on the mitts. This would be kind of Marvin Hagler-ish. Not sure what to think on this one. It's somewhat unlikely. But I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to do it in a few of the rounds with Floyd just to switch things up. He would then have a hard straight right to alternate with the hard straight left. Seems to be a risky move against a brilliant fighter like Floyd.

Can anyone on this forum name any fighter on Floyd's resume where he has gone to such lengths in the negotiations to fight them. Someone please name one. I've never seen anything like this from someone who calls themselves TBE,..and the current P4P fighter on planet earth. And he is doing it with someone who is supposedly "an easy fight"..... In my opinion if Floyd does not sign for this fight,...then he should lose his P4P status. No one in boxing history has done anything like this.

I believe that Pac/May fighting isn't just about these 2 fighting each other. It's about the sport of boxing's credibility and integrity. You keep hearing fans on BS talking about who's ducking whom. I look beyond that. I believe it's about greed. Pacquiao certainly is not afraid of Mayweather,..and I believe the opposite is true of FMJ. But I do believe that Mayweather is worried about the zero. His Zero has translated to many zeros over the past 7-8 years. Again we go back to the "greed factor". I believe Bob Arum is actually an obstacle in this fight,..more than many would know or believe. I also believe Mayweather's ego and greed is another big piece to the problem. I think Pacquiao is a pretty simple man. I don't mean "stupid" but just simple and humble. I really believe it when I read his pleas for Mayweather to get in the ring. At this point the ball is in Mayweather and Arum's court. I believe that it is reasobable for the $$ split to be 60/40 in Mayweather's favor. The PPV sales should be 50/50. These are reasonable splits. Pacquiao got laid out 2 years ago,.....and he's gonna pay the price for this. It's still a competitive and compelling fight to me. It would have been better 4-5 years ago. No doubt. But neither fighter has ever faced anyone like themselves. They are both still among the 5 best fighters in the world. The world is watching and waiting. I believe May 2nd is about the sport of boxing,...not just May/Pac. This is a crossroads moment.

When I envision the two of them walking to the ring I get goosebumps. I think Pacuiao will display his smiling and happy affect as he walks to the ring. Whereas Mayweather will be more sullen and serious. For he is the one with far more to prove. He and his uncle and his father have told us all over and over and over and over again how easy this fight will be. Just my 2 cents worth here. I want to know what others think on this one.

I watched Pac/Algieri 24/7 last Saturday. I couldn't help but to think how domestic Algieri is compared to Pacquiao. Watching them train or even fight is like watching or comparing a domesticated dog to a wild animal. It's not going to be pretty. I really thing Pacquiao is going to really beat up Algieri. The only way he can win is if Pacquiao grows old overnight and has nothing left. I don't think we are there YET. Pac still appear to be in near top form. Algieri has no idea what he is getting in the ring with. I think Provo underestimated him. I also think Provo is very one dimensional and lacks the toolkit that Pacquiao brings into the ring. Algieri is fast,...but he isn't even close to as fast as Pac. The jab might give him some moments,...but his eyes are going to get hammered shut. Especially by Pac's zinging left hand. I also expect Pacs right hook to neutralize the jab(I think they really worked on this in camp) The feints are going to be catastrophic for Algieri as well. He doesn't have Marquez's skill set and toughness to deal with the feints. This fight should end in a TKO,................maybe a Ko,... If it doesn't then it indicates evidence of Pacs decline.

Just wondering if anyone can send a link/video if this is true. I thought I saw a post on facebook that mentioned Steven A. Smith now favoring Pac to beat Mayweather. This would be a mind blowing change for him. He has always picked Mayweather historically.

I have seen the replay of the supposed hurtful punch that Bradley landed on Marquez that made Marquez "backstroke backwards"..... This was a balance disruption more than being rattled. Just my opinion!! I'm not a Bradley hater but l just don't feel like he zapped Marquez with that punch. I don't believe their is much probability of Bradley hurting Pacquiao,..unless he hits Paquiao with a "perfect" punch as Pac rushes in(like the Marquez disaster). But the probability of that is pretty low. I believe Pacquiao will be very aggressive in this fight but will do so responsibly. Bradley does not have a big gun to checkmate Pacquiao. He has activity, great endurance, good recuperative powers, a good left jab, above average handspeed(not as fast as Pac), and pretty perceptive and tricky footwork.

Manny Pacquiao always fights bigger fighters. Even Marquez was slightly taller. At all their weigh-and photo ops Marquez appeared about an inch taller. Pacquiao seems to be about an inch taller than Bradley. Pacquiao is often called a "midget" on these forums. If so,..then what is Bradley. Furthermore,..how is Khan being thrown around as a legitimate challenge and match for Floyd,...and Manny supposedly isn't. Khan is a "never was"...Everytime he had a big fight he got knocked out!!! Manny is an elite level fighter who hit a speed bump when he was hit by the perfect shot at the perfect time by another elite fighter. Forget Bradley,..that was not a loss. How can Floyd Sr's argument be taken seriously. IMO Manny is the ONLY fight that makes sense for Floyd. IMO this is not even an argument. Manny is an 8 division champion. Look at his resume. This would be the Meldrick Taylor that showed up to fight Chavez in 1990 vs. The Manny Pacquiao that showed up to fight Ricky Hatton. I actually think Taylor was just a bit quicker handspeed wise. Not by too much though. This would be the fistic equivelant of a fireworks display. This would be one of the most entertaining matchups I can imagine. I think it would be very competitive and back and forth for about 6-7 rounds,..but Taylor would begin to lump up and swell up like he did with Chavez. Pacquiao has the power to do this. He would bring this to an end a little quicker than Chavez did..Because he would keep up with Taylor and punctuate exchanges with his superior power. So I have Pacquiao TKO in rds 8-10.

I suppose it is typical of the Floyd camp to take their time with selection of an opponent. Does anyone else on this forum believe that he may be looking at the Pac/Rios fight and how it plays out?? I think he wants to make some $$$$ and no one will enable him to rake it in like Pacquiao.

First of all Pac is an 8 weight division champion. Second,..Pac occupied the p4p for a few years. Third,..physcially and skill wise he is the best at 140-147. Fourth he represents huge money,..more than any other fighter,...period..Not even a slight argument here!!! Fifth,...it will be such and easy, easy fight for Mayweather,..He might not even have to train for Pacquiao. So why not make it. Let's assume Pac not only wins on Nov. 23rd but looks very good doing it. Then let's make this fight for May of 2014. Come on Floyd,....it will be sooooo eassssy. and you will make 50 million doing it!!!! No excuses.

Imagine the Meldrick Taylor of 1989-1990(his prime was pretty brief) VS. Floyd Mayweather at 140 lbs. Handspeed edge: Taylor,...but not by a huge margin. Power edge: Slight edge to Mayweather,...again,..not by a huge margin. Defense edge: Mayweather,...by a HUGE margin. Taylor,..not hard to hit. His opponents were usually busy dealing with the blistering speed. Footwork edge: Mayweather,..huge margin here. Ring generalship: tossup. Endurance: Even. Variables: Mayweather. Has lots of ways to win. Taylor didn't have a lot of looks in the ring. Just overwhelming. Boxing ability: Mayweather,..However,......Taylor was a very good boxer,..just not great like Mayweather. I see Mayweather winning because he takes over after some very difficult rounds trying to time the blur that was Taylor. He will lose most of the first half of the fight and then gradually get some timing down. I don't see him potshotting in this one. It will be very, very close. Taylor was way too fast to potshot on. Mayweather will just land the harder more eye-catching punches in the last 3 rounds.:usa:

I believe Rios is going to load up on his right hand in this fight and try to produce the same results that Marquez got. Unless Pac becomes Roy Jones(vs. Glenn Johnson),...This will backfire badly. I'm actually very excited to see this fight. If you watch the last Marquez vs. Pac fight,..That First knockdown/Right hand by Marquez was NOT a really well timed shot. He just led with it....and it worked. The second right hand that laid out Pacquiao was a more "perfectly timed" shot. Pacquiao needs to be on point for this fight. He needs a solid 8-9 week training camp. No politics or multi-tasking. If he's unfocused in this fight,...he will feel that right hand. Rios has definitely got a punchers chance in this fight.

First of all this fight is too late,..assuming it may happen. But let's say Floyd gets a good solid decision over Canelo(I think he will),..and then Pac beats up Rios in November(not so sure). But Pac must look more impressive than Floyd just because of the 2-3 minute nap that Pac took last December. But let's assume that Pac does look impressive. I think the fight between them picks up some momentum. I'm not saying for a minute that it brings the magic or excitement that it would have 3 years ago. But it will still be good for boxing and would still be interesting. Everything I saw from Pac(except for him getting knocked out) against Marquez 4 would have been competitive skill-wise with Floyd. Let me hear what you think. I am not a Pac lover. Because I would lean towards Floyd in a fight. Too much boxing ability, to much defense and his right hand may be Pac's Kryptonite. Just think of Marquez' right hand in that last fight. Floyd's Right hand is like a laser guided missile!!!:lurk::lurk:

I am a huge Mosley fan as well as a huge Pac fan. I see this fight as a wash. Pac will never let Mosley into the fight. Sure Mosley may tag Pacquiao in the opening 2 rds. I believe Pac will take it(might wobble) but will tag Mosley bag several times before the end of that round. Pacquiao is just way too much for Mosley at this point. Mosley is a flurry fighter. His jab is not very instrumenta. He paws with it. It is not crisp and precise. Pacquiao will go around that kind of jab all night long. I don't think Mosley will survive to the 10th round. I think the ref will stop it. I don't think Pacquiao can knockout Mosley or even drop him. But he will beat him up. Nazeem may even throw in the towel.

I think Pacquiao would actually box a little if he were to fight Mayweather. He has such good footwork to get in and out. This would be a good strategy as long as he didn't get to carried away with it. Floyd is a master boxer and would ultimately have the supreme advantage but I could see Pac using it in spots. I still think that Pacquiao would win the fight with high volume punching. This would be the present the biggest problem for Mayweather. I'm just saying that Pac is fast enough and talented enough to box in spots just to Mix it up a little. I would like to get people's thoughts on this.

Pacquiao was spectacular last night. He showed it all. I believe that Pac has got a great shot at beating any of the WW's. The only guy I would solidly pick against Pac would be Paul Williams. But Williams would have to amputate an arm to be a WW again. Pac proved that he can take a punch from a hard hitting WW. Cotto hit him good in the body and head and Pac took it and fired back. If he can take Cottos artillery then he should be able to take Mosleys shots and could definitely take Mayweathers. After Mayweather fought Marquez I was worried that Pac wouldn't be able deal with Mayweathers defense and ring generalship. My opinion has changed after last night. Pac keeps getting better. He has enough speed to hang with Mayweather. He has enough power to hurt Mayweather. He has enough unpredictability and angle to get to and through Mayweathers defense. Mayweather is an all time great defensive boxer but Pac is a freak with his angles, explosion and constant energy. I think he is a nightmare for Mayweather. Pac would more than likely win a UD against Mayweather because Mayweather would be moving back almost the entire fight. I believe if he stayed on the rope and did the shoulder roll with Pac then Pac would get him out of there in 5-6 rds. This defensive tactic would be a disaster against Pac. Another thought on Pac vs. Mayweather: F**k Mayweather and his 70/30 or 60/40 split on a potential fight with Pac. That arrogant f****r. He likes to go on about "My house is bought and paid for,......is Manny's, is yours??" I'm so tired of hearing about how he is IT. "I'm the attraction in boxing, nobody sells tickets like Money Mayweather". That is bull. Pacquiao's weigh ins are more exciting than Mayweathers fight. I'm serious. It should be a 50/50 split or even 60/40 for Pacquiao. Pacquiao is the draw. People may want to see Mayweather but it is to see Mayweather get beat up. Mosley is too old for Pac. I love Shane Moseley. I'm a very big fan of his. But Pac will retire him. Pac would beat up Mosely. There's no way a 38-39 year old fighter is going to beat Pac. NO WAY. Mosely doesn't throw enough punches to keep Pac off of him. Mosely looked great against Margarito. But Margarito is slow and Pac is a speed freak with frightening power. Oh, and by the way I find it humurous how DeLaHoya said "Pac can't hit hard". LOL. He was hurting ODLH in their fight. ONe more round and that would have been TKO or even KO. I'm not trying to be a nuthugger for Pacquiao but I just appreciate what he is doing for boxing. He is a CELEBRATION OF BOXING. At a time where MMA is getting so much attention, Pac represents boxing in such a remarkable way. My MMA friends that watched Mayweather vs. Marquez kept telling me "This sucks,.....this is why boxing is in trouble,.....who wants to watch this loud mouthed ego maniac be defensive for 12 rds??" My MMA friends have a point. So Manny is a good thing. Hat's off to Cotto. What a warrior. I had a tear in my eye at the end of the fight last night. I love both of these fighters. It's too bad someone has to lose when there both good guys. God bless Cotto.

I think the fight will initially resemble Cotto-Judah. Pac's handspeed is similar to Judah's and he hits almost as hard as Judah. Cotto will definitely taste some leather initially. For me the big question will be "What happens when or if Cotto survives the storm and starts to chop away?". This is going to be a great fight. The fans will be winners on this one.

This fight is going to be one of the best of the year. I think it is a stink proof fight. Unless the ref or officials ruin it!!! I am leaning towards Mosley in this fight. I have some reservations about his age though. If he grows old in this fight he is in deep shit. This fight reminds me of Chavez-Taylor a little bit. The obvious difference being that Cotto doesn't have the chin or inside fighting focus of Chavez. But the flow of the fight could be similar. Mosley resembles Taylor a little bit. The difference is Taylor was a bit more explosive but didn't have as much signiture on his punces as Mosley. I think that this fight will be fought primarily in the middle of the ring. This will be to Mosleys doing. I also think that Mosley's jab will be key. I think Mosley needs to be careful of flicking the jab out there. This could be a good chance for Cotto to land his right hand over the top. Cotto is heavy handed and could swell Mosley's eye if he lands enough of the right hand. I think Mosley is going to pull this off but will suffer some damage in this fight. I watched Judah-Cotto the other night and I really believe Cotto is going to fight a punishing fight like he did in that fight. For the first part of the fight it will be Cotto that has to deal with Mosley. For the middle and end of the fight it will be Mosley that has to deal with the consistent onslaught of Cotto. Mosley will be different than Judah because Mosley has 1) a better chin 2)Fights with more consistency over the course of 12 rounds. 3) Can rally late in a fight 4) Is a more educated and potent finisher 5) Doesn't get overconfident like Judah

Taylor just can't get it right. In alot of ways his skills are very above average. Part of his problem is he doesn't know how to follow through with a game plan. The way he fought Pavlik is the way he should have fout Ouma and Spinks. Those guys both should have been KO'd. He should have opened up and fought with agression and heart. Instead he fights this way with the dangerous opponent in Pavlik????? I never have understood Jermain Taylor. I don't think Steward does either. He seems like a good guy and has obvious talent but he just comes up short. I expected more from him in his career. I can't believe he was able to deal with Hopkins. :banana:

With the recent news on Mike Tyson it is just more reminder of how far this man has fallen from grace. What a waste!!! It has always bothered me that Tyson fought Lewis and Holyfield so late in his career(after his prison term). I think Tyson was completely gone after he did his time. This was a tragedy in itself because he was special before that. These are my thoughts on what would have happended if Tyson faced the following fighters in HIS PRIME: Holyfield: This always would have been a tough fight for Tyson regardless if he was 22 or 30. An interesting question here is which Holyfield would have done better...the younger or older. I think the older Holyfield(1996 version) was the best mathcup for Tyson. I think the younger(205 pound version) would have been TKO'd in rounds 5-7 by Prime Tyson but it would have been trench warfare. Lennox Lewis: Prime Tyson's hand speed,angles and power would have caught Lewis and that would have been it. I feel the younger Lewis(1992-1994 versions) had a better chance against Tyson because his handspeed was very good for a big guy. He may have caught Tyson coming in. He could have possibly beaten Tyson by simply catching him with an uppercut. The older Lewis would have fallen very early against Prime Tyson. Riddick Bowe: I feel Bowe(1992 version) presented the most difficult fight for Prime Tyson. He had inside and outside game. Tyson would have his hands full and if he didn't get his pound of flesh in the first 2 rounds he would gradually get drowned in the later rounds. I would bet on Bowe in this matchup. But only when Bowe was at HIS absolute peak(1992). Larry Holmes: If Tyson fought Holmes when Holmes was at his peak(1978-1982) it would have been different. However, I think Tyson would win this one. He would have knocked Holmes out much later in the fight though(perhaps rds 10-12). Tyson's style was created to beat Holmes and I think he would do that regardless of Holmes age and time in his career.

Mosley will more than likely succeed against Collazo. I just don't think Collazo has the right stuff to defeat Shane. The biggest liability for Mosley is that he is 35 years old and sooner or later he will look like an older fighter. If he does grow old in this fight he will lose pretty bad. Collazo is a very solid boxer and will make him pay if he shows up old and slower. Mosley has been a very "youthful" older fighter. He is always in shape between fights and lives clean(as far as we know). However, I don't see Mosley having any of these difficulties yet...so he should get a win in this fight...Maybe by a Ko(he's that much better than Collazo). PBF may be in Mosley's future....we will see. If it happens it better happen soon because Mosley is getting OLDER and he is a SPEED/FLURRY fighter. He has to have speed to be what he is.
